PREMIERE: Shwirl’s ‘Together’ Radiates Importance Of Friendship

We’ve loved watching Shwirl‘s evolution as a producer over the past few months, growing from a young, confused 16-year-old in ‘confusion‘ to slowly yet surely finding a clear path ahead. This certainty is reflected in his latest track titled ‘Together’ that we are stoked to premiere today. When asked about his progress, Shwirl states, “I feel that ‘Together’ marks a point where I can say that I’ve set path for myself. I’m phasing out of that uncertainty that I felt before and things are starting to come together (lol), hence the hands touching in the artwork and the title.”

‘Together’ marks Shwirl’s fifth release on the Vancouver-based collective Crystals, and there’s no denying his music is a perfect fit. Elegant melodies are backed by punchy percussion in his latest work, with the latter reminiscent of Getter’s new vibe, yet easily unique enough to stand out on its own. These are further intensified through crisp vocal chops and reverberating basses in the drop section, highlighting Shwirl’s talents in manipulating samples and creating tasteful tunes.

The young producer thanks the Crystals squad for his growth, stating, “the biggest reason we push ourselves is because the idea of Crystals is to put the spotlight on amazing music that otherwise would not be heard. I think I can say it’s the first track that I’m really proud of, and I’m not sure I could’ve done it without the motivation and the support the Crystals squad has given me in the past 1-2 years“. PREMIERE: ELEX & Skepper’s ‘Nicotine’ Receives Massive Remix Pack

ELEX & Skepper’s ‘Nicotine (featuring Deathly Chill)’ was a strong standout from Crystals’ Vol. 3 compilation. So much so that ELEX was continually having producers slide in his DMs asking if they could remix it. Considering the demand, ELEX decided it would be best just put the stems out along with the track as a free download on SoundCloud. From there, he let producers work their magic and send him their final product. Given the amount and quality of submissions he received, he opted to drop a full remix EP for ‘Nicotine’ and today we have the pleasure of premiering it!

The pack features a wide array of talents including shwirl, sollbury, Soummit, Alter Natives, Soulse!, Aleksey Burn, and a fresh VIP from ELEX himself. Each remix packs a unique vibe ranging from Indie electronic feels (Alter Natives, shwirl) to hard-hitting trap (sollbury, Elex’s VIP), future bass (Soulse!, Soummit) and even some Rezz-inspired dark electro (Aleksey Burn). ‘Crystals Vol. 3’ Proves The Future Is Now

With the release of Crystals Vol. 3, Crystals has officially gone 3 for 3. Their latest compilation picks up where 1 and 2 left off, bringing fans incredible new music from under-the-radar stars . The project spans from stunning vibed out tunes (‘The Rest Will Catch Up To You,’ ‘Restless’ & ‘Callisto’) to straight bangers (‘Clutch’ and ‘dawk’). Every track is on point but my favourite standouts are definitely woodpile’s ‘Blow’ and Sanguru’s ‘Back 2 Life’. The pitched vocal tweaks remind me of trap’s early beginnings while the wild sound design keeps things futuristic on ‘Blow.’ ‘Back 2 Life’ bangs like no other, but it’s the slowed-up moombah-infused breakdown at the end the clinches it. PREMIERE: ELEX & Shwirl Connect For Slow-Burning Banger ‘Slow Hype’

Rising producers ELEX & Shwirl first caught our attention with their releases on Crystals Vol. 2. Today they return with a collaborative effort entitled ‘Slow Hype’. The track begins deceivingly slow and stunning. Birds chirp as powerful keys conjure a melancholy vibe. Militant snare rolls lead us into a much more fierce section. A laugh switches the scene as we’re dropped into a dark and pounding segment that bangs. They let things simmer from there, slowly rebuilding before hitting us with a final act of aggression. From the beating drums to the malevolent synths sounds, the final drop feels like a beast walking over crushed skulls. That dark visual is wiped away at the track’s close as ‘Slow Hype’ drifts out with a more somber and toned down conclusion. Stream the track below and be sure to scoop up that free download.

PREMIERE: shwirl Explores ‘confusion’

At just 16, shwirl, is yet another talented producer set to make waves online. His latest work ‘confusion’ is a true testament to his talent. It’s rich with vibes and packed with emotion. Anchored by a stellar piano solo, the track takes listeners on a journey that’s deep, reflective and abstract. Confusion is a universal emotion and shwirl manages to capture it in pristine form by drawing upon his own experiences, “I’m at a point in my life right now where I’m kind of stuck, and I don’t know what to do. My parents are pushing me to do really good in school so that I can get into college, and all I really want to do is produce and make a living out of it, but my parents don’t really see that happening. I constantly hear people say ‘follow your dreams,’ but then reality hits you in the face, so that’s where the title came from” he tells us. Though the track is riddled with uncertainty there’s an underlying optimism that helps contribute to its unique beauty. Stream ‘confusion’ below and try not to get too lost in the vibe (or just do).
