After a brief hiatus of just over six months, Quality Goods Records return today with the fifth instalment of their Quality Vibes series. Known as the softer side to the usually hard-hitting bass label, the Vibes series is intended to evoke emotion with its releases, and who better to so than FUXWITHIT favourites Floret Loret and Silva.

From releases on mau5trap to Bassrush, and collaborations with Zeds Dead to capshun, Floret Loret needs no introduction. His distinctive style is familiar enough to enjoy from a multitude of settings, but unique enough to carve its own lane in the electronic music scene. Similarly, Silva has adopted an infectious take on future bass that is equally emotive as it is invigorating, while recently expanding into trap and drum and bass to further strengthen his catalogue.

Together, the two unlikely collaborators join forces to create a cohesive intertwining of their respective sounds. Aptly titled ‘Glacier,’ the piece will induce spine-chilling goosebumps upon pressing play through its serene, almost mystical soundscape. As the track builds to its crescendo, the pair of artists unleash a hypnotizing barrage of chaotic chords that still somehow sound magical and beautiful. ‘Glacier’ provides the perfect balance between highs and lows, making this an easy addition to a ton of versatile playlists. Don’t miss it below.

Calvin Harris’ ‘You Used To Hold Me’ is a certified classic. Coming off his sophomore album Ready For The Weekend, the track was a standout smash alongside hits like ‘Flashback,’ ‘The Rain,’ & ‘Dance wiv Me.’ Combining emotional and catchy vocals with a driving electro-house beat made it a mainstay at festivals and in DJ sets. Released at a pivotal time when electronic music was beginning its ascent into the mainstream, this track and Calvin Harris hold a special place in my heart for helping me fall in love with the scene. Anytime the song plays it’s pure nostalgia. So when Silva hit me up and said he had a DnB flip with Luude on the way I was elated.

Taking on such an iconic record is no easy feat but the pair do it with the utmost tact and success. Still driven by Calvin’s powerful vocals, Silva and Luude retain all the key elements that made the original so special. Nothing is overdone but it still sounds unmistakeably fresh. I wasn’t in the market for a DnB edit of ‘You Used To Hold Me’ but now that’s it here, I don’t want to imagine a world without it. The drums will have you shuffling with a renewed vigor as you sing along and get lost in the feels. Blast this on repeat, I certainly have been.

Fans of FUXWITHIT should be quite familiar with Perth-based Silva, as the talented beatsmith has continuously impressed us with his unique take on trap and future bass, most recently with the release of his debut project, Motions. However, most are probably not familiar with sammythesinner, largely due to the fact that her first official release only came to fruition late last week. As you have probably guessed, this release is a collaboration with the aforementioned artist, and while we thought our level of awe with Silva had plateaued, boy were we wrong.

Out via ONELOVE, ‘Sweep’ is simultaneous proof of Silva’s undeniable production mastery, and sammythesinner’s incredible potential. In Sammy’s words, “the idea behind ‘Sweep’ was inspired by a vast range of genres such as future bass, experimental trap, dance/electronic and jungle DNB.” It’s truly mesmerizing to hear these seemingly distinct genres fuse so cohesively, but the pair of producers have executed to a tee. The underlying soundscapes that line ‘Sweep’ are undoubtedly Silva’s, with those serene, ethereal effects driving the emotion behind the piece. However, sammythesinner’s influence is heard through the controlled chaos that comes in the form of the intense drum and bass sections, with the pair showcasing a hypnotizing chemistry throughout. Honestly, leave all expectations at the door and just press play on this one. You will not be disappointed.

Australia’s Silva has become quite the staple in the underground trap community in recent years. Showcasing an otherworldly talent for simultaneously hyping up listeners while also firmly putting them in their feels, he’s found a steadfast home in the hearts of many. Cooking up saucy remixes like ‘Jungle‘ and ‘Mvvnlight‘, along with originals like ‘Escape’ and ‘Orchid‘, he’s touched hundreds of thousands of ears at this point, leaving each fully satiated. Now, he’s coming fresh out the ice box with his latest frosty concoction ‘Freeze.’

Feeling like the first stark-white snowfall of the season, ‘Freeze’ brings out a sense of new beginning. A fresh take on the world around you, your perspective changing much like the seasons of the Earth. With the change of seasons comes the hope that this new segment of time will be one filled with abundance and growth, with no time like the present to put your best foot forward. The production is impactful enough to keep you moving, but gently vibing back and forth is the name of the game. A light sway is all you’ll need to be fully entranced in the moment, lost in simply existing for the time being as ‘Freeze’ excites you at an atomic level. Precisely sprinkled vocal samples give it this immensely satisfying hip hop undertone that really gets the hips involved, really amping up the overall level of fun and excitement greatly. This piece is a true delight on the ears, and one I can imagine you’ll have on repeat for those late night bumps for some time to come. Check out ‘Freeze’ for yourself below!

His sound draws influence from future bass, trap, hip hop, bass music and whatever other obscure sounds that have him excited at the time of creation. Raw originality and emotion are carefully fused for a sound that’s boundary-pushing while remaining alluring and even approachable. It’s a delicate balance but tracks like ‘orchid,’ ‘Escape’ and ‘Unforgotten’ see Silva tip-toeing across this sonic tightrope with grace and poise.

After some time away from music, Silva is back and more focused than ever. 2020 is looking to be a big year with new music, collaborations and new genre barriers to break. To get a precursor of what’s to come we connected with Silva for a guest mix + interview. The mix is as diverse as his influences, ranging from Flume & What So Not, to Nipsey Hussle & Pusha T, not to mention some unreleased collab IDs with LUUDE, Leotrix and one unnamed producer. As for the interview we touch on his time away from music, signature sounds, exploring new genres and more. Dive in below.

You took a fair bit of time away from music before deciding to come back and pursue it full time this year. Can you speak to this period and what led to your return and renewed focus?

I felt the need to have some time off (just over half a year) to focus on studying, mainly for a change of routine. Now that I am back putting my time towards writing, I feel taking a break for study really benefited my music and drive for production in many ways.

What should we expect from you this year? Will you be releasing a lot more music? Any projects on the horizon?

This year expect; collabs (some are in the mix) more originals and more remixes. Also have been working on a lot of drum and bass, which we might see later on in the year…

Also really excited to play some shows again hopefully later this year or early next year :)

I found my own sound by working with the same basic drums and software since day 1, over and over again still until this day. It’s gotten me to the point where I can start to really shape them into my own unique sounds, simply because I know how to work with them all too well.

You have a pretty unique signature sound. How did you go about bringing this to life? Do you have any tips for up-and-coming producers on how to carve out their own lane?

I feel I found my own sound by working with the same basic drums and software since day 1, over and over again still until this day. It’s gotten me to the point where I can start to really shape them into my own unique sounds, simply because I know how to work with them all too well.

My biggest tip for a new producer would be to not completely produce purely from how other producers have taught you. Take all of their advice in and perceive it how you like but do not treat anything as that being the only way.

Everyone’s heard it, but there really are no rules to music.

Earlier this year you were exploring a completely different direction but decided to scrap it and lean back into your signature sound. Can you take us through that process and the ultimate decision?

Earlier this year I was going to completely move to drum and bass, but lately I have really enjoyed producing more “Silva” type music. At the end of the day I’m producing for fun, and I’m having an amazing time at the moment focusing on the sound I have always been working on. That’s not to say that I won’t be producing any drum and bass in the near future.

Your catalog consists solely of solo releases. Is there a particular reason why you haven’t worked with other artists? Are there any plans for collaborations in the future?

There is no particular reason to be honest why in the past I haven’t worked with other artists. Although as you will hear in the mix, there are some collabs I’m super excited about which will be getting released.

I have always found certain plants really beautiful (particularly ferns and ivy) especially the way and the conditions in which they grow in. I feel like a certain plants and natural green settings resonate a lot with my music in general.

Your music feels like it’s inspired by nature and the outdoors. Can you talk a little bit about your personal connection with nature?

I have always found certain plants really beautiful (particularly ferns and ivy) especially the way and the conditions in which they grow in. I feel like a certain plants and natural green settings resonate a lot with my music in general.

When we spoke around the release of ‘unforgotten‘ you mentioned that you were obsessed with Russian bass and rave music. What’s your current obsession?

At the time the Russian rave/music scene was all so new to me and I couldn’t help but entwine it into my own production. I love learning about different music cultures and where/how it originates. For me (slightly late to the party) but I am absolutely loving the UK music scene/ culture – and obviously the music. Everything and anything relevant to the genre “jungle” I find fascinating, There is so much culture behind it. I love how similar it is to western hip hop but at the same time (in my opinion) all of the drums themselves and the rhythms all seem so natural and authentic.

What’s the most Australian thing that you enjoy doing?

To be honest one of them for sure would have to be making beats for Australian rappers with them sitting down in person. The whole setting is so uniquely and strongly Australian and it is something I have recently started doing more and more over the last year. The studio has such a unique vibe when making a beat for an Australian rapper. while their cyphering lyrics on their note pad – i’m bouncing back and forth on a boom bap sample. Aus rap is a really interesting culture, and to be fair over the last year or 2 it has really blown up. Search artists such as hooligan hefs and huskii, that will explain it all.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received recently?

It is what it is. If it isn’t what it is, then it ain’t the one.

There are so many different genres I love to make, I guess its time to start crossing lines…

What is this mix the soundtrack to?

Based on all the different genres that I’ve touched in the mix, this soundtrack is a cohesive blend of diverse music. I was going to stick with one genre but I figured why not and find a way to blend it all together with it still having its own wholesome unique vibe. I guess that says a lot about where my head is at with music, especially the production side of things. There are so many different genres I love to make, I guess its time to start crossing lines…

At the speed that music moves these days, weeks feel like months, months like years, especially in between releases. With that in mind, it seems like it has been forever since we received new music from Perth producer Silva. His last release was a flip of the Dreamville smash ‘Sacrifices’ last summer. A lot has happened since then. As he took time away from music to focus on University, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh drop from the Australian. Back with a new single and a new focus comes ‘orchid.’

“This track to me has a strong combination of original/old elements of my production combined with more experimental aspects. For me personally I love the atmosphere I have created in the track – it feels really unique.” – Silva

The latest offering is what makes Silva so special; blurring the lines between genres and sounds while clearly honing in on the feels. Ghostly vocals and snappy percussion carry ‘orchid’ into a drop that’s simply spellbinding. Riddled with emotion and a multitude of layers, the track feels like walking through a graveyard on a late summer’s eve. Foreboding yet enchanting, its possesses a stirring allure while maintaining a slight sense of darkness. ‘orchid’ is finding beauty in the unnerving. A fitting return in these uncertain times.

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard from Silva. In fact, we premiered the promising producer’s last two tracks, namely ‘Unforgotten‘ and a remix for UZ’s ‘Leave It,’ all the way back in January. Nonetheless, the Perth-based talent never slipped under our radar, and we were quick to press play upon seeing his newest track in eight months appear on SoundCloud on Friday.

Silva’s whimsical, carefree approach to trap and future bass is what peaked our interest in him earlier last year, and his consistency is what keeps us hooked. His latest titled ‘Svcrifices’ is no exception to this statement and sees him tackle the star-studded ‘Sacrifices‘ from EARTHGANG, J. Cole, Smino and Saba. Opting to keep the acoustic essence of the original alive, Silva layers added effects and percussion to give the flip a danceable electronic feel in the introduction. As the seventy-second mark hits, the Perth producer’s influence really shines through in a minimal yet captivating way, transporting listeners to somewhere along the lines of the Fuji Garden in Japan – a place almost too beautiful to imagine. Soft and ethereal, Silva will have you floating on clouds with ‘Svcrifices,’ so don’t miss it below.

A formidable hunting territory for the production-oriented, Quality Goods Records have established themselves as both the first and final frontier for the modern wave of electronic trap music. Under the careful guidance of production icon UZ, the label has matured at an almost alarming rate since its founding in 2016, now providing homage and guidance to an extensive roster of veteran artists such as Hydraulix, Oski, Champagne Drip and sfam.

With exciting new additions around nearly every corner, 2018 may have been the most remarkable year for QGR to date. Bolstering the ranks with remarkable talent such as Krischvn, thook and Rome in Silver, the label capped off a diverse year of releases with the annual label compilation, which revealed yet another noteworthy batch of exciting young names to watch in the coming year.

Without breaking stride for an instant, Quality Goods Records starts the new year off on the right foot with the release of the highly-anticipated remix compilation from UZ’s coveted Rebirth, which debuted last spring. Teeming with creativity and innovation, the release compiles contributions from the label’s veteran constituents as well as a few new faces, each revealing a novel exploration from the direction of the original tune.

Kick up your feet, sit back, and enjoy as Quality Goods Records demonstrates yet again why they are the point of origin for all things trap.

Leading the pack is Rome in Silver with his take on the minimalistic track ‘Mad’. Orchestral chants are layered above an energetic revamp of the original track, before Rome in Silver jumps into the first drop in full swing with a barrage of wonky basses and tribal percussion. Don’t be fooled by the heaviness of the first half though, as the versatile producer adds lustrous beauty to the bass in the latter half of the remix.

Exploiting the tantalizing vocals from the original rendition of ‘Rebirth’ to his advantage, Los Angeles based Eliminate contrasts the floral, emotional melody of the track with a gripping, low-frequency drop. Sonic disparity gives the remix a raw, authentic appeal, while a deliberate emphasis on production smooths out the rough edges of the track for a silky smooth listening experience.

We know, you’ve heard this one already. It’s simply too good not to share twice, though. Silva’s dainty sounds have captivated the attention of many as of late, and his contribution to this remix pack is a perfect embodiment as to why. The Australian producer’s take on ‘Leave It’ will incept vivid imagery of nature with its whistling leads and ethereal soundscapes, allowing listeners to relax between bass heavy productions.

First making his debut appearance in the recently released 4th installment of the annual QGR compilation, Baajewala makes his return with a captivating remix of ‘Futon’. Enlisting fluid production enhancements, absorbing bass patterns and enriched synth medleys the latest QGR addition weaves an impassioned touch into a remarkable original.

Krischvn is another promising up-and-comer who is quickly becoming a QGR favourite. Tackling ‘Flash,’ Krischvn makes himself heard from the get-go, accentuating Bok Nero’s vocals with a raspy, metallic synth and a wretched sub bass. An elongated build-up leads you into an assertive showing of Krischvn’s pristine production talents, where contorted synths and glitchy samples shine.

In the vocal-rich ‘Cray’, Hydraulix keeps the original essence of the track alive in the introduction. After a short verse, the Sydney-based producer leads listeners into mayhem, adding a fat layer of bass to tickle all of your senses. The bombardment of resonating bass is enough to turn the vocal-driven original into a set-ready heater.

Capping off the wildly entertaining remix pack is Jon Casey with his take on the serene ‘Castle’. The talented South African takes Nevve’s calm vocals to build into a fury of trap insanity. In a real contrast from the original, Jon Casey uses penetrating drums and crushing bass to transport you to the depths of the Amazon, flexing his musical prowess once again.
