Things you do. For this week’s throwback Thursday track, we’re taking it back to the summer of 2000. The track “Fall In Love” from Detroit’s Slum Village is one that really captures the hip hop and neo soul groove perfectly; courtesy of Jay Dee (J Dilla) who produced the head-knocker. The song comes from the groups 2000 release “Fantastic Volume 2“. If you haven’t heard this joint, you can expect an old school flow and rhyme pattern over a beat that is sure to get your head rocking back and forth. As you may already know, Dilla passed back in 2006, falling to a rare blood disease. Looking back at joints like this, it’s clear to see that J Dilla had a timeless sound that many other producers may try to capture today. Peep the track below and reminisce on the good ol’ days.

February 7th marked Jay Dilla’s 40th Birthday. The Detroit hip hop crew dropped this new joint over this unreleased Dilla beat in his memory. Slum Ville is also releasing an LP with more unreleased Dilla beats on it in the near future. The beat is in classic Dilla fashion, a light sample with some laid back drums. The rhymes are also on point. Its good to hear from these cats. Yes yes y’all.
