Incorporating vocals from Dem Franchize Boyz’s ‘Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It,’ your body will be sure to contort in ways you didn’t know were possible. The whole song is incredibly well put together, with impeccable layering, thick kicks and tight snares; a major treat for the ears. A veritable ticking-time-bomb sitting in the middle of the tracklist on the EP is ‘Astronaut,’ a song that will test even the most seasoned of sound systems. Featuring low-end that leaves you cackling from the filth, this is a prime example of a song that should indeed be played at a high volume. An introductory trap beat lures you into a false sense of security before the vocals “me and my mans feel like astronauts” comes in and your consciousness is catapulted into another dimension via first-class bass. The menacingly trappy melody on top would be wild on its own, but coupled with not purring, but growling low-end, this is a song not to be trifled with.

The other 3 tracks on RESPAWN include ‘Telepathy,’ a psychedelic drum and bass affair, ‘Big Flex,’ a piece rich with variation in terms of pacing and arrangement, and ‘Swept Away,’ a piece rich with varying instruments, feeling almost like a portal straight to a jazz club.

If Sterling Scott has shown anything with his EP, it’s that he is a true renaissance man of music, capable of hitting broad ranges of genres in one body of work, all executed at a masterful level.
