Back in March Bay-area beatsmith THRPY blessed us with an incredible guest mix filled with originals and unreleased heat. Among the amazing array of sounds was one standout that featured a powerful guitar riff introduction and some crazy future bounce. We’ve been eagerly awaiting its release and today we have the pleasure of premiering ‘Lunch Money’. The track sees THRPY taking a break from the darker, harder, more sound designed focus and creating an upbeat heater with an incredible groove. “I was really inspired by like Chromonicci and dilip. I love the bounce and swing their beats have. I wanted to make something on the melodic side since most of my work is so dark. This song was more about a vibe and less about sound design for me. I just got a vibe and let it lead me. This track is pretty different so I’m stoked on releasing it. Especially with Surreal!” THRPY tells us about how the track came together.

The opening feels epic and commanding before the intoxicating groove pulls you in. THRPY proceeds to carefully add in elements from snappy snares to fat bass and cheery melodies. Continually progressing, ‘Lunch Money’ gets better with each passing second. It’s a laid-back groove that also slaps providing the perfect balance. Stream it below and grab it via Surreal.

CHROME and Jon Casey Bring Us A Brooding Banger With ‘Pneuworld’

Ladies and getlemen, this is what I call a true brooding banger. ‘Pneuworld’ doesn’t have the fierce violence of Dubstep but, with it’s own abrasive power, can easily compete for the dancefloor’s supremacy. Everything starts with the highly cinematic intro, that cleverly misleads listeners, suggesting epic but fragile atmospheres, the kind that you’d expect to hear at the beginning of a State of Trance’s set. This mere illusion is shattered in pieces in a handful of seconds, when a massive, sharp synth suddenly arises and takes control of the situation, bringing a blind fury.

Also the breakdown, which is pretty much a continuation of the intro, manages to find a perfect purpose. It restores the calm after the tempest but, at the same time, it switches the peaceful mood with a tense and nervous wait that feeds listeners greedy expectations for the second devastating drop.
