Over the last couple of years, dubstep has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to a few key players who have added unique sounds and influences to the legendary genre. Among these artists is California-based Syzy who, along with fellow artists such as Akeos, Neonix and Hukae, has set the foundation for a new generation of talent to grow within the scene. From projects on the gone-but-not-forgotten Never Say Die: Black Label, to official remixes for MUST DIE! and Moody Good and Slander, the young talent continues to evolve his sound with each release, and there is no better proof of this statement than in his upcoming Plz Enjoy Music EP, out Friday via Never Say Die.

Ahead of the release of the four-track collection, we have the extreme pleasure of premiering ‘Medium Rare Milk’ today, a track that shines Syzy’s undeniable talent in a new, refreshing light. Leave all expectations for a heavy dubstep brute at the door when pressing play on ‘Medium Rare Milk.’ Dive into the experience with an open mind, and trust that Syzy has created an epic piece that transcends genres. ‘Medium Rare Milk’ opens with glistening, vibrant synths that soon transform into an uplifting, high-energy melody. As the drop hits, an amazing combination of dubstep and future bass elements come together to form a euphoric section riddled with ecstasy, with crisp sound design and layers of textures contributing to the elation. Continuing to diversify as the track progresses, ‘Medium Rare Milk’ is undoubtedly one of Syzy’s best works, with a soothing outro acting as a cherry on top of the exquisite track.

Despite being a 150 BPM track, ‘Medium Rare Milk’ is far from the average dubstep tune, further showcasing Syzy’s incredible creativity. Don’t miss it below and catch the Plz Enjoy Music EP out in full tomorrow.

As one of Kompany‘s most popular tracks of 2020, ‘Feel It All’ saw the veteran producer expand his horizons with a more melodic sound without escaping his heavy signature stomp. The track, released via Never Say Die, was tailored to close off festival sets with a bang, and while it might not have served that exact purpose last year, it certainly provided a welcome addition to Kompany’s impressive repertoire of quality tunes.

Today, the euphoric track gets a remix treatment from four of bass music’s most solid forces, namely MUST DIE!, Oolacile, and Akeos and Syzy. The former kicks off with an old school rave introduction that MUST DIE! has perfected in his latest releases, where the legend layers the originals vocals overtop his playful melodies. The drops are equally as mesmerizing as the opening, with the artist combining mind-melting dubstep sound design with minimal percussion, providing the perfect contrast for bass lovers. The second rendition of ‘Feel It All’ from Oolacile is a quintessential future riddim treatment from the Halcyon label-head, which does not come as much of a surprise as he’s a key player in spearheading this new subgenre movement. The remix is fun and lively, but still riddled with bass stabs that keep the heaviness of the original alive. Last but not least, Akeos and Syzy deliver the meatiest flip of ‘Feel It All,’ doing what they do best with a relentless pounding of bass menacing your ear drums for the track’s duration. It’s chaotic yet controlled, and really just a testament to both Akeos and Syzy’s undeniable prowess.

It’s hard to pick a favourite due to the versatility of all three remixes, so check them all out below!

Despite being able to dive into a plethora of genres with ease, SYZY has really found his place and carved his own path in the heavy dubstep scene. With releases on Bassweight Records and the now-defunct Bewildered Productions, as well as a ton of highly-anticipated unreleased material in his arsenal, it was only a matter of time until the artist made his mark on the scene with a full-length project. Now, having just released ‘Hi’ on the debut Malignant Vol. 1 compilation, SYZY is showing no signs of slowing down with his debut on Never Say Die: Black Label coming out later this week in the form of the Sunshine EP. Ahead of its full release, we have the honour of premiering ‘Identity Theft’ alongside the young legend Akeos today, and it’s even heavier than it was teased to be.

The track itself is around a year old and took a couple of months to finish, starting with a 30-second drop idea from SYZY before Akeos came around to structure and elongate the piece. On working with Akeos, SYZY states, “I am so glad to have worked on this with them. It was so fun to work on, and I can guarantee more collabs with Akeos in the future.”

Simply put, ‘Identity Theft’ is a cohesive combination of SYZY and Akeos’ catastrophic sounds. The introduction is short yet foreboding, hinting at the destruction that soon follows. As the drop hits at the forty-second mark, chaos embodied through ground-shattering frequencies is unleashed, flexing a repetitive pattern that only grows more relentless as the track progresses. The energy encapsulated within ‘Identity Theft’ is steady and sure to induce a whiplash, primed for the eventual return of front-row headbanging.

With more madness to come soon in the Sunshine EP, satisfy your current craving for bass with ‘Identity Theft’ below.

Boasting a terrorizing sound capable of destroying the strongest of foundations, MARAUDA has quickly catapulted to the top of dubstep scene through a relentless approach to heavy music. With releases on some of the biggest labels in the game such as Never Say Die and Disciple Round Table, the Sydney-based producer has proven his strengths time and time again, but he has recently started to release music on his own personal imprint, Malignant Music. Prior to last week, only he had put out music on the label, but all that has now changed in massive fashion. Opening the platform to fellow heavy-hitters, Malignant Music has unleashed its debut compilation titled Malignant Vol. 1, and it’s bigger and better than one could even fathom.

What do you get when you take the hottest names in the dubstep scene, round up some of their most anticipated unreleased material, and package it all into one devastating ensemble? The answer is Malignant Vol. 1. One might think this is an exaggeration, but a quick look through the tracklist reveals the true catastrophic nature of this compilation. From the label-head himself releasing the guttural ‘Laryngitis’ and the ridiculous ‘Blunder 2.0,’ to Aweminus and Subfiltronik finally delivering their highly-awaited ‘Subminus,’ veterans are well-represented in Malignant Vol. 1. Add to that some boundary-pushing up-and-comers such as Hukae, Papa Khan and SYZY, as well as established big guns Calcium and Krischvn, and one gets the debut Malignant Music compilation. Don’t miss it below.
