Apparently this is the case with Flume’s ‘Left Alone’. Back in 2013 Ta-ku put his own spin on the fellow Australian’s tune. It looks like that wasn’t enough as Ta-ku connects with Gravez for the re-remix (yes you read that correctly). The downtempo tribal sounds are reinforced with thumping percussion and some trunk rattling bass. The sprinkling of Kendrick Lamar and other trapped out samples add a further dimension of grittiness. Stream the tune below.

Since his debut, Loston has been making waves as one of Australia’s brightest new talents. Within the span of a year he’s put out a number of incredibly moving songs including ‘Too Much’, ‘Next Exit’ and ‘Drown’. Late last year, his undeniable talent granted him the opportunity to contribute to Ta-Ku’s Create and Explore project. It seems the relationship has further developed, as today the two have unleashed a new collaborative track. ‘No Reason’ opens with a calm backdrop and emotive vocals. As the two add in instrumentation the track takes a gentle progression before opening up to a more full sound. The vocals are simple but infectious and the song perfectly illustrates why Ta-ku and Loston are masters of delivering auditory feels.

For the past few months Jaden Smith has been getting major support from blogs and larger media outlets alike. I was beginning to think that the Smith family was slipping blogger’s funds for posts (they can’t really be taking this kid seriously). But today I was forced to change my thinking. Seeing a collab between Jaden and immensely talented Australian producer Ta-ku completely changed my stance. Not only is the production on point, combining hazy jazz samples and soulful loops for a classic hip-hop sound, but Jaden goes in. ‘Beast Mode’ is 3 tracks seamlessly mixed together for a near 9 minute final product. His flow is crazy smooth and the bars are on point ranging from humorous punchlines to social commentary. I don’t want to admit it, but this is actually really dope. Maybe Jaden does have some serious potential…I mean there was once a time when people thought Drake would never be taken seriously as a rapper.
