What sits pretty as track number two from Jay’s The Blueprint (which dropped 14 years ago), ‘Takeover’ is a three verse tirade aimed at Nas and Mobb Deep. The Brooklynite goes in over a Kanye beat in classic Hov fashion dropping sharp jabs at his opponents while reminding them how he’s running the game (“R-O-C we runnin’ this rap shit”). The Jay/Nas beef is still topic for great debate but if you ask me, even with this track and how great it is, Nas won the rap battle. Jay won in life (see: Beyoncé).
