Ever since the inception of the Tek Genesis project, the Sydney-based artist has cultivated a sound that places him among the forward-thinking artists in bass music. From an incredible debut album, Temp, to a couple of EPs and a handful singles, Tek Genesis continues to evolve with every subsequent release, finding a unique niche within dubstep that never sounds stale.

With his first release of 2022, Tek Genesis makes his debut on Wakaan with the high-octane Sapphire Channel EP. Featuring three tracks that were written over an extended period of time in isolation, the collection showcases more of the Tek Genesis energy fans have come to love. ‘Pit Viper’ kicks things off in high gear, with a frantic introduction setting the stage before a metallic barrage of bass complemented by gnarly growls steals the show. ‘Sapphire Channel’ follows, with Tek Genesis keeping the intensity of the first track alive but livening it up even more with a future riddim-leaning lead that is oddly both aggressive and uplifting. Lastly, ‘Velocity’ closes the ensemble in a refreshing fashion, with the artist combining influence from trap, breaks and dubstep to concoct a contorted brute that is relentless in vigour.

Each piece of the Sapphire Channel EP contributes distinctly to the ensemble, as Tek Genesis unleashes three of his best tracks to date. Don’t miss it below.

Sydney, Australia seems to be a swiftly rising home for some of the brightest up-and-coming producers in the bass music scene as of late. Giving birth to some of the hottest trap and dubstep in the entire game right now, it’s no wonder we had to tap one of their burgeoning stars for the latest edition of our guest mix + interview series. Rebranding from his adored William. project just a few short years ago, Tek Genesis made an abrupt pivot to much more experimental and aggressive sounds. His debut album Temp offered up a diverse, complex array of sounds and styles that felt reminiscent of both tackling deep-rooted emotions and taking a flying saucer for a swagger-laden joyride throughout the Milkyway Galaxy. Lately, he’s been serving up spicy dub-centered arrangements like his latest ‘Contact‘ with major emphasis on squeaky clean sound design that massages the eardrums and spikes blood pressure levels. Now, he’s come onto our platform to truly flex what he’s capable of with a 30-minute guest mix chock-full of hellacious unreleased music from himself and his friends. If you need something HEAVY to get yourself through the day, look no further! Check out the full interview and guest mix for yourself below!

For long-term fans of your project, you originally made a name for yourself under your William. moniker. What made you make the transition into Tek Genesis, and make a stark divergence from your trap roots?

I began to just lose a connection to the type of music associated with the ‘William.’ project. towards the end, it felt like I was just making music for the sake of making it for others as opposed to doing it for myself.

It seems as of late that you’re diving into more dubstep sounds in both your productions and tracks you work into sets! Do you feel like that’s the main direction you’re going to go from here on out, or would you consider your style more fluid?

It definitely will be the main course of my direction going forward but I like to think that my production style is fairly fluid. I’ll be drawing influences from all genres but my main focus and structure will be fairly riddim heavy!

I just really enjoy making the music I like to listen to and it’s an added bonus that there are cool people out there that enjoy listening to it too!

You just released ‘Contact’ off of your upcoming EP! Can you tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind the track and the project as a whole?

The overarching project is kind of like another step in refining my music sound as a whole. ‘Contact’ is a showcase of exactly that, my next step forward with everything that I’ve learned and been inspired by so far.

What are you trying to convey to listeners through your music and project as a whole?

I don’t really think I’m trying to convey anything in particular. If I’m being honest I just really enjoy making the music I like to listen to and it’s an added bonus that there are cool people out there that enjoy listening to it too!

Do you have any daily rituals that you believe lead you to success?

For me personally; shower, clean my workstation, bottle of water.

I usually try to totally disconnect from directly listening to music and focus my attention on doing other things I enjoy

When you hit a creative rut, what are some things you do to reset and find inspiration again?

I usually try to totally disconnect from directly listening to music and focus my attention on doing other things I enjoy. helps clear my mind when I take a week or two from thinking about anything music-related!

What hobbies outside of music did you have as a child that helped mold you into the person you are today?

I enjoyed playing video games, that’s about it lmao. That being said, I love drawing influence from video game OST so maybe that’s indirectly influenced my music.

With as lauded as your debut album Temp was, when can fans expect another full album from you?

Couldn’t guarantee it anytime soon but I definitely want to do another!

What are you looking forward to most in the next 12 months?

Playing shows! A lot of venues are reopening here in AUS so I’m keen to play all this new music out to crowds.

You prepared the 151st installment of our guest mix series for us today! What should fans expect to hear from this particular mix?

Loads of unreleased music that will hopefully be out soon, and music I’ve been listening to lately!

Starting off his career with much more traditional trap influences under the guise of his William. moniker, Tek Genesis has paved an audible path of immense growth and experimentation. Never feeling satisfied being confined by one particular genre, influence, or style, he tackles a wide range of sounds with expert precision and immaculate execution. His debut album Temp shook us to the core at the tail end of 2019, putting on full display a talent for left-field, experimental music that extended to every corner of the community-at-large. Since then, he hasn’t slowed down in the slightest, pumping out monstrous heaters like ‘Eterna‘ and ‘Holographix,‘ much to the sheer joy of his rapidly growing fanbase. Now, he’s back with ‘Contact’ the saucy debut single from his upcoming EP out on Australia’s Dark Machine Records.

‘Contact’ is the extraterrestrials’ first chance to see how you handle their form of communication, will you pass their test? Lulling you into a false sense of security from the opening notes, you’re greeted with crispy clean synths that sound reminiscent of an alien civilization located several light-years away, utilizing technology far beyond our realm of understanding. It seems as if you’ve offended them, as they whip out the interstellar laser cannons to lay waste to the entire planet, and it only took them a minute and 20 seconds to make their decision. Rough first impression, eh? If only the cannons didn’t slap so hard, as their undeniable groove keeps your lower body moving ever so delightfully to the beat, veritable ear candy dancing delectably as it vibrates through your cochlea. Making compulsive rinsings mandatory, this is one piece that you’ll keep in the daily rotation when you need an energy boost for some time to come. Can’t get enough of Tek Genesis? We’re proud to announce that he’ll be the 151st installment of our guest mix + interview series out this Thursday, April 22nd. But for now, check out ‘Contact’ in all its glory for yourself below!

Continuously separating themselves as one of the most premiere platforms in all of dance music, the fine folks at Electric Hawk have shown they have quite the knack for finding the pulse of the community and some of the most sultry underground talent. Just a little over a year ago they unveiled their debut compilation album In Harmony, a wide-ranging eclectic collection of tracks from some of the brightest up-and-coming minds in the business. Now, they’ve started 2021 with all cylinders firing with the release of their sophomore compilation in the form of In Unity, a delightfully diverse collection featuring blistering pieces from the likes of Redrum, Deadcrow, FRQ NCY, Tek Genesis, NotLö, Sky Suite, Capshun, Eyezic, Spüke, Nik P, and many more! Check out my full thoughts on the compilation, and snag a saucy surprise for this weekend below!

Gently welcoming you into the calming embrace of this sonic voyage, Redrum kicks things off with a full-bodied, elongated hug with ‘Fluid.’ Featuring airy, thought-provoking melodies and a warm glow, this piece is the equivalent of watching the sunrise as you sip your morning coffee in solitude, keeping you firmly grounded in that moment. A wonderful kick-off to In Unity, listeners will be left locked-in as the tracklist moves ever deeper through the compilation.

Feeling like a jolt of electricity that courses through your bones, Nik P’s ‘Crescent’ is a tremendous concoction of delectable drum and bass that makes it nearly impossible to not start wildly wiggling no matter the setting. Deep basslines, swagged-out fills, and sensational grooves combine to create a sound that is truly irresistible. An audible stimulant of only the highest caliber, Nik P has truly outdone himself, and offered up one of the most energetic pieces on the entire compilation.

Settling into the middle of In Unity, the tremendous twosome of NotLö and Sky Suite offer up a sizzling bass-heavy affair in the form of ‘Dismantle’, a piece that successfully rearranges your being at a subatomic level. With nothing dainty about this piece in sight, listeners should expect hearty cascades of thunderous low-end and immense amounts of crunchy delight. It’s not often that two swiftly rising titans of the underground scene put their heads together, but fans will be guaranteed to be more than satisfied from this delightful combination.

For fans of gritty heavy goodness, Deadcrow’s ‘Predator’ is an absolute weapon of a track, capable of leveling entire city blocks with its vicious sound design. Without a doubt the heaviest piece on In Unity, this is one track that’s surely going to be a favorite among the basshead crowd and would be a sure-fire gamechanger on a standard festival rig. For hard wave aficionados, and even fans of genre-bending underground heat, Deadcrow successfully serves up only the spiciest of heat.

Sydney, Australia’s Tek Genesis continues his sonic expansion from his original project William., trading more traditional trap stylings for left-field-centric flavors. His latest track ‘Holographix’ is no exception, sporting an underlying hip-hop aesthetic while pounding your eardrums with heavy, full-bodied bass that gets one’s head nodding ever-so-satisfyingly. A little bit dubby, a little bit wubby, but all around a fantastic time.

One of the most refreshing pieces on In Unity, ‘Epiphany’ brings unmatched energy to the table filled with unbridled and unrelenting positivity. A track that truly makes it difficult not to smile and get up and groove, this equates to a tremendous treat on the ears and a pleasant jolt to the bones. FRQ NCY has truly upped his sound design to immaculate levels, and his artistic prowess will surely carry him to major career milestones in the coming years.

The last piece I’m going to cover from In Unity is the massive three-way collab between Capshun, Eyezic, and Spüke. A gyration-inducing amalgamation of distinct styles that come together to create an atmosphere of inquisitive joy. Peace sitting calmly at the forefront of your mind while your body relishes in the current moment, it ends by drifting off to quietly to nothing, going out just as soothingly as it began.

Wow. 14 tracks. 18 artists. 1 massive success. In Unity perfectly encompasses the boundary-defying attitude that is so prevalent from the fine folks at Electric Hawk, and is a sure sign that they’re here for good. A shining light in the music community, and a welcome home for the best and brightest, their sophomore compilation album is a smash hit. Want to keep the party rolling? Check out their In Unity Virtual Music Festival this Saturday and Sunday (January 23-24) featuring almost every artist included on In Unity, along with the saxxiest man in bass music Griz. If Electric Hawk’s past streams are any indication of what’s to come, this will surely be a can’t miss event. Hope to see you all in the chat!

Since adopting the moniker Tek Genesis about a year ago, the Sydney-based artist has embraced an experimental sound that has pushed the boundaries of bass music, earning the early support from some of the best in that category, Noisia. The Temp LP dating back to December 2019 was the first full body of work that fans got from Tek Genesis and it exceeded all expectations, combining bass ingenuity with emotional undertones unlike any other artist. Now, Temp is getting a second life in the form of a remix album, and continues on the path of innovation seen by Division Recordings and the artists featured in the ensemble.

Six of the original album’s eleven tracks have received a treatment from eight different artists who uniquely fall into the category of promising rising stars. If drum & bass is your cup of tea, dive into Rohaan’s take on ‘Cloud Kingdom Theme’ or Posij’s remix of ‘Cryostasis.’ If you’re looking for something a bit more ambient, Former’s rendition of ‘Petrichor’ and SUMII’s version of ‘Cloud Kingdom Theme’ are sure to put you at ease. The rest of the remixes fall somewhere between those two extremes while remaining under the broad umbrella of bass music, with personal favourites being Point Clare’s menacing take on ‘Amber’ and Jon Casey’s wicked halftime flip of ‘Raid.’ With Rad Hatter and Blake Skowron wrapping up the remix pack, fans of bass music will undoubtedly find a few tracks worth rinsing for weeks to come. Dive in to Temp Remixed below.

Sydney, Australia based Tek Genesis, formerly known as William., has been indulging fans of fusion-bass elements to the highest degree for the past year, switching up for a more experimental approach compared to his previous productions. Steeped in the idealistic elements of a complete rebirth, his rearranged focus has set him down a path towards complete audio domination, with his inner artistic turmoil firmly situated in the rear-view mirror. His newest work, his debut album Temp released on Noisia’s Division Recordings, is a culmination of all the trials and tribulations he faced, beginning with uncertainty and uneven ground, but fiercely blooming into sharp confidence and a palpable concrete aesthetic.

The album opens with ‘Scattered Dreams,’ a nod to the mental state one goes through when the direction their life was going is no longer their intended path. Jumbled, anxious, misplaced thoughts that can swell and bleed into each other, but eventually settle much like the dichotomy of puddles during a rain shower and then shortly after. This is the first step towards a new awakening, a new sound achieved and harnessed, ready to be thrust upon the masses.

Next comes ‘Amber’, a true showcase of the direction this project is moving. Much like how amber in nature is a remnant of the past that now exists in the present, the undertones of the William. project are quite noticeable in this piece, while also possessing next level sound design and flow. The overall feeling is something out of a futuristic sci-fi cityscape, feeding into the seedy underbelly of the industrial civilization. Equal parts confident and gangster, your head will surely be a-bopping along to the beat, assurance in yourself at an all-time high.

‘Lost Signal’ builds upon the newly found signature vibrations found in ‘Amber’ and adds a more hip-hop/trap feel. This is especially prevalent in the latter drop, as the slowed beat turns your hips into a gyrating tornado of swing. The bass from this track majestically purrs out of your speakers, with the overall thickness being one of the first things you’ll immediately notice. Full-bodied, cascading waves of low-end that are a veritable feast for your ears will leave you compulsively hitting repeat like your life depended on it, contentedly lost in the sound. If this entire body of work is about his journey transitioning as an artist, this piece is definitely about the grind day-in and day-out to make something that you’re truly proud of. It can be all-encompassing, driving, but also partially maddening.

Why work yourself to the bone if you never see results? ‘Petrichor,’ a collaboration with Quiet Bison, is the answer to that. The daily grind can become rhythmic and reflexive, easy to lose oneself in the cycle of it all. ‘Petrichor’ is the hope and newfound resolve that one finds when they can actually feel growth and progress taking hold. The opening melody is the perfect start to a day, with bright, positive energy bursting forth. Kicks and drums are quickly introduced, adding electricity and movement that would’ve otherwise had you stuck taking in the moment. The blending of styles between these two artists is a fantastic combination and one I hope is repeated in the near future.

‘Cloud Kingdom Theme’ is next on Temp, a switch-up from the previous few tracks. Replacing the intense body-coating basslines for air and open space, this piece is much more thought-provoking and leaves room to breathe. Don’t get me wrong, this track will slap on a big sound system, but the vibes from it are more about introspection and digging to your core, versus digging to the core of the Earth from dancing so hard. The elements are all wonderfully mixed together, creating a truly unique soundscape that emits its own bubble of reality.

Sitting firmly in the middle of Temp is ‘Ether’, an immediate must-listen for fans of progressive sound design. This is one of those pieces that leaves you thinking “damn, he really just did that.” The attention to detail is impeccable and all the added accents keep your ears firmly on their toes while still maintaining the overall flow to a pristine degree. The amount of different sounds contained within leads one to think about order from chaos, finding meaning from anything and everything, even things that you wouldn’t dream of being combined.

‘Shift,’ a collaborative effort with Keenan Mathias, is easily one of the most beautiful pieces on the album. Giving off vibes very reminiscent to parts of G Jones’s Ineffable Truth album from last year, this is a prime example of music that can move you using virtually no words. The message is conveyed and story told through vibrations alone, making you the puddle in the rain in this instance, each hit bouncing into you, becoming part of you, and then rippling to others. Hearing this live would cause a hush to fall over the crowd, with fans’ eyes firmly affixed on the stage, grateful to be alive in that singular moment.

The last song I’m going to highlight is ‘Head Kick’, which is in stark contrast to ‘Shift’. Where ‘Shift’ was ethereal, graceful, and airy, ‘Head Kick’ is a raucous jam-fest that will you get wildin’ out to the highest degree. Much more trap-oriented, the original William. project is finger-printed within, but magnificently utilizes the new sound that he’s really honed-in on. The sound design and bass-work here is bar-none, with each kick rippling your sound system, so rich and dense that it’s almost impossible to tell if an echo is being used or if the notes are really just that drawn-out.

For Tek Genesis, Temp is a culmination of all the pains he faced as an artist who had seemingly lost his way, and all the energy he put into creating a new identity for himself both in his music and persona. The album, however, sounds like it’s coming from a seasoned veteran that has already had their own style under their belt for several years at this point, a true nod to his work-ethic and perfectionism. Temp goes through several different styles and moods, eliciting noticeable overall changes in each listener, while still maintaining its cohesiveness. If you weren’t paying attention before, one full trek through this body of work from start to finish will leave you an instant fan, captivated by his sounds and the emotions that he can make you feel. Putting his mark concretely on 2019, the coming year will have fans anxiously awaiting what he’s whipping up next, the brink of stardom not at all out of sight. Check out all that is Temp for yourself below!

Stemming from the recent disasters that deeply inflicted the prosperity of the Amazon Rainforest, Forêt is aimed to unify an abundance of creative potential towards an allied resolution.

“I was devastated when the stories of the fires in the Amazon went viral. Though it wasn’t new information that man-made destruction of the Amazon and other places was altering our world, immersing myself in the coverage of it all made me feel completely powerless. Kael (Palpa) and I shared our grief with each other and initially posted some knee-jerk reactions of how we felt on social media, but it didn’t feel like we were doing nearly enough,” Reset co-founder ell!psis shares regarding the horrific mass media coverage that initially fueled the inspiration for the project.

Composing 13 individual tracks that feature an exceptional roster of creative fortitude including, but not limited to, William Crooks, VALENTINE & underscores, ell!psis, POINT CLARE, Shhh, and PALPA, Forêt spans a multiplicity of genres and preferences, resulting in an eclectic sonic offering that rests easily on the ears and genuinely upon the heart.

“It makes me overwhelmingly happy to see artists I look up to contributing to such an important cause, and it really shows the character of these artists and the kind of people they are beyond their craft. The reception has been great not only in our artist network but also through family and friends. People are getting a new experience and making a difference— this is the kind of power music has, and I’m so grateful to know these individuals,” PALPA reflects regarding the overwhelmingly positive response that has resulted from the team’s cooperative efforts.

Needless to say, music has the untold ability to inspire hope and consolidate an altruistic goal. Forêt is a true embodiment of a selfless initiative and a shining beacon of conviction toward the impact that can be achieved through a collective, creative mentality.

Formerly known as the artist Willam., Tek Genesis has spent most of 2019 committing to a major rebrand of style and outlook. William. was already widely respected as a project by itself, but was soon creatively fatigued. Rejoicing in his newfound direction and ability to work outside any box made by expectation, his latest piece ‘Amber,’ released on Division Records, pulls from several different genre influences at once, sculpting this wholly unique listening experience.

‘Amber’ begins with a motor-like noise revving up, prepping you for the bass buffet about to grace your ears. Listening on any halfway decent sound system will have you picking up on the immense layers springing off of each other, with no clash or overpowering at any points, a truly difficult feat considering everything going on at once. It has the right amount of kick for its equal amount of attitude, coupled with the laser-beam melody it creates this hybrid SYFY channel movie/90’s hip hop gangster vibe. If you were ever in a smoke circle with ET, this would be the song playing.

Tek Genesis has already honed-in on his newfound sound and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With a freshly successful rebranding and an LP on the near horizon, William. seems to have been a mere stepping stone for the inordinate amount of potential resonating within this talented young mind. Keeping this man on your watch list for 2020 will be of the utmost importance. Expect big things soon, but for now, check out ‘Amber’ for yourself below!

Tek Genesis, FKA William., returns with this lasery space-bass banger, ‘Faultline.’

Every creative knows that a metamorphosis can be both a nerve-racking risk and liberation from worn out bonds; Tek Genesis proves that this risk is worth it and that evolution is inevitable with his latest release ‘Faultline.’ With an emotional build up that utilizes plenty of ethereal sounds, it takes a sudden turn up to the first drop. ‘Faultline’ showcases Tek Genesis’ ability to pull tones from the ambient breathyness into electrifying action. What follows after the first drop is a sauntering stroll through a mine field of punching laser bullets, fluttering synths, and chilling snares. The bass blooms in the background, rumbling the ether, and puts plenty of meat on the bones of this futuristic and alien sound. These are all signs that Tek Genesis has turned over a new leaf in another galaxy. Be sure to keep an ear out for more upcoming and otherworldly releases.
