Through consistently entertaining radio shows and a constantly impressive string of releases, The Smile High Club are becoming one of the hottest underground platforms for great music. Their ELEMENTS compilations are also quickly evolving into the best place to find promising up-and-coming producers from across the globe, as seen in their seventh instalment earlier this year. Continuing to build on this theme, The Smile High Club are back in full force to grace your ears with the perfect soundtrack to keep summer alive, ELEMENTS VOL. 8: ZEHUTI.

When asked about what Zehuti means to them, The Smile High Club had this to say.

“In the modern day and age, we are presented with shallow substance meant for mass consumption, so our goal with this elements series is to provide content that goes deeper than the norm. The name of the compilation is derived from the 6th step of spiritual alchemy, distillation. This step focuses on embracing the challenges and growing from them to reach personal enlightenment. The last compilations we have released have dealt with the previous steps. To be more specific, Zehuti is another name for Thoth which is the corresponding deity for the 6th step. We’re not trying to be religious or force any sort of beliefs onto people and that listeners end up focusing on the ideas that are represented by the imagery presented. Our hope with the ELEMENTS series is for people to look further into these ideas to see how they can relate and be used for one’s personal development.”

Each artist on ELEMENTS VOL. 8 was chosen based on their sound and development over the time The Smile High Club has been following them. From artists with only a couple of hundred followers to some with a few thousand, this latest compilation is further proof to look beyond the numbers. Accomplishing their goal of going deeper than the norm, each artist provides a piece that holds well on its own while simultaneously fitting extremely well within the compilation. Ethereal vibes are present throughout, as cutesy, smile-inducing melodies drive the future beat essence of the tracks. Curated to a tee, ELEMENTS VOL. 8 is a fun, fresh compilation that perfectly balances energy with relaxed undertones. Dive in below.

First established as a private group to share new sounds in the electronic music scene, The Smile High Club has quickly evolved into a community focused on sharing new music from around the world. Through a series of ELEMENTS compilations and weekly Smile High Radio installments, The Smile High Club has become a platform for up-and-coming talents to showcase their unique talents. Despite being a little late to the party, we’re super stoked to share the seventh chapter of their compilation series today.

“In analytical psychology, Nigredo became a metaphor for the dark night of the soul, when an individual confronts the shadow within.” While remaining true to this theme, The Smile High Club‘s ELEMENTS VOL. 7: Nigredo compilation goes much further beyond that. Its introductory tracks such as Abelation‘s ‘Too Simple’ and FRQ NCY‘s ‘Hysteria’ up to Lou?‘s ‘Faced’ dive deep into this darkness through gritty beats and rugged synths. The confrontation of the shadow within is depicted between Perikardium‘s ‘Fade Away’ and Ruairi Dx‘s ‘Marco’, where a touch of liveliness and groove is introduced into the compilation to drive the dark night away. As the compilation progresses, listeners are shown the bright side of life through a variety of genres, where the common theme is bouncy vibes and cheery melodies.

In an epic chronological journey, the artists in this latest The Smile High Club compilation paint an incredibly enjoyable story through a plethora of masterfully produced tracks. Every song stands out on its own as a work of art, while also coalescing into a sonic expedition. Don’t miss ELEMENTS VOL. 7: Nigredo below.
