If there’s one thing we love at FUXWITHIT, it’s breaking barriers and artists who come with fresh new sounds. The latest collaboration from Colson XL and Too Much exemplifies this exceptionally. ‘Get To Me’ fuses elements of garage, bass, trap and house for a wild ride that’s primed for the club or grooving alone at home. “For the intro we wanted to capture the feeling that older house and garage from the likes of DJ EZ gave us, so when we found the vocal sample, we decided to chop it up with this super old-school sounding synth,” Colson XL explains. Those classic influences create a sense of nostalgia that’s addictive and engrossing. As the vocal breathes, it leads us into the hard-hitting first drop, which is equipped with bouncing percussion, booming bass and a groovy melody.

“When I took over, I knew I wanted the 2nd half to be bass house and I knew I would need a strong element to tie everything together, otherwise the switch up might be way too weird. The vocal sample was extremely well done by Colson XL imo, so I knew I wanted that to be the central theme that tied everything together,” Too Much tells us about his influence and work on ‘Get To Me.’ The vocal proves to be the perfect centre point to keep consistency while Too Much flips the track on its head with a wild house section that flexes his sound design prowess while still remaining as dancy as ever. It’s not an easy feat to make a track that’s experimental and exciting while being a certified bop, but ‘Get To Me’ is just that. Stream it below.

Too Much brings the bounce on his latest single ‘whippin’. The Vancouver native is gearing up for the release of his Sauce EP on 7/1. Two weeks back he gave fans a taste of what’s to come with the title track and today we have the pleasure of premiering the second single. ‘whippin’ came together as a result of Too Much’s musical background and some inspiration from two of his favourite producers. He elaborates on the process saying, “I recorded the clap and Bali loops first for this one. I used to be in a prog metal band so weird time signatures and music theory are really fun for me to mess with. All of those loops started as 7/8 rhythms that I tweaked to fit a 4/4 groove. Then I constructed the chord synth that was directly inspired by olswel and inimicvs. Everything else just fell into place.”

Pulling vocals samples from a forthcoming collab with Jae.Joven (which will be on the EP), Too Much creates a work that’s undeniably fun and infectious. The drums posses a tribal energy that pairs perfectly with the vocal manipulation and knocking bass. Managing to be complex while minimalistic, ‘whippin’ is something special.
