VenessaMichaels mashes Luda & Kendrick in ‘Humbl3’

VenessaMichaels is back in the game with a remix which indicates that the LA-based producer is looking to expand her musical spectrum.

Bringing together the Ludacris classic ‘Move Bitch‘ and Kendrick Lamar‘s latest firestarter ‘HUMBLE.‘, Venessa seems to be striding away from the ‘sounds of 2016’. Her first release of the year, ‘Humbl3’ focuses less on the R&B/Jersey club sound found in some of her previous tracks, as she leans more towards a trap-influenced vibe. Who knows – maybe this is the start of a completely new direction for her. From its low-thumping squeaky beats, to the juiciest samples from each original tune, Venessa shows that she has no problem stepping outside of her comfort zone to try something new.

A collaboration between Lil Texas & VenessaMichaels was destined to happen. After sharing a mutual respect for each other’s music for some time, Venessa finally made the move, “I finally hit him up, we realized we lived a mile from each other and made a track in a day and a half” she tell us. Don’t let the short turnaround time fool you, this tune is expertly crafted. ‘Without You’ is a melting pot of sounds and styles pulling in 90’s Rnb feels, classic hip-hop drums, raw trap horns and deep bass. All of this is tied together with a forward-thinking club sound that proves the genre still has its best days ahead of it. By the mid-section you’ll be falling in love and that Ja Rule sample will lock in your heart. I had to ask how the classic Rule sample ended up in the track to which Lil Texas replied,“don’t fucking worry about it! These are texas secrets!” jk it’s a Ja rule sample obviously cut from his classic track ‘Holla Holla’ not much more to it than that. Ja Rule > other rappers.” So there you have it.
