The wait is finally over…Revenge Of The Dreamers III is here and it’s massive!

To kick off 2019 J. Cole and the Dreamville team opted to invite some of their favourite rappers, singers and producers to a 10 day collaborative session in Atlanta. With some of the hottest in the game posting on their socials and Dreamville teasing clips, the hype could not be higher. On Tuesday Dreamville Presents: REVENGE (Documentary) took fans into the sessions and further increased the excitement around the release of the Dreamville compilation Revenge Of The Dreamers III. Today the album has arrived and it did not disappoint.

Clocking in at 18 tracks, the project showcases the power of collaboration while breaking down barriers in rap, both geographical and generational. The Dreamville roster is at the project’s core with J. Cole, JID, Cozz, Bas, EARTHGANG sprinkled across a variety of tracks. Outside of the expected, ROTD3 sees features ranging from DaBaby and Smokepurpp, to Buddy and Guapdad 4000, Saba and Smino, to Vince Staples and T.I. Early standouts include ‘Down Bad,’ ‘LamboTruck,’ ‘1993,’ ‘Rembrandt…Run It Back,’ and ‘Sleep Deprived’. Given the broad offering of talents just press play and let this rinse from front to back. Vince Staples Keeps It Gritty On ‘Big Fish Theory’

Long Beach emcee Vince Staples is back with a new project entitled Big Fish Theory.

The sound perfectly balances classic West Coast bounce (‘Big Fish,’ and ‘745’) with more forward thinking electronic soundscapes (‘Love Can Be…’ & ‘Yeah Right’) . The latter is a straight up speaker blower produced by Flume and Sophie. Oh and if that wasn’t insane enough, Kendrick Lamar jumps on it with a flamethrower of a verse to put it over the top as a track of the year contender.

Vince’s ability to hop on futuristic beats while keeping it raw and authentic make ‘Big Fish Theory’ everything we love at FUXWITHIT. It’s way too early to call right now but I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince’s project goes down as one of the best releases of 2017. With only 12 cuts, Vince opts for quality over quantity and proves that the formula always works. The beats are cold, his flow is lava and it’s filled with the unapologetic “suck a dick” style that makes Vince Staples so dope.

GTA Truly Dispatch Genres With ‘Good Times Ahead’

GTA‘s disregard for genres has been well documented, from their all-over-the-place-but-still-tied-together performances, to their productions and their classic mix series Death To Genres. With their major label debut Good Times Ahead, fans were left wondering if their genre mashing days would be washed away for a poppy, radio-friendly sound. Thankfully the duo stayed true to themselves, delivering a 10 track album that blends R&B, Rap, Future Bass, Pop, House, Trap and just about any other genre you can think of. It does this, often times on the same tracks (see ‘Feel It,’ & ‘All Caught Up’). What further serves to impress is the different sides of the sound spectrum that somehow fit together. The project opens ‘True Romance,’ a love infused ballad that’ll take you back to slow dancing with your first crush. It’s intoxicating but it will leave wondering if GTA’s gone soft (these are the guys who made ‘Break Your Neck’ after all). ‘Little Bit Of This’ kills that thought in its tracks. Nature sounds spill into a bass heavy, brain-bending beat that’s championed by Vince Staples’ raw as fuck bars. ‘Feel It and ‘Heartbeat’ fall somewhere in between. The latter starts as an emotional, downtempo tune that drops of a cliff into some cavernous bass. A few cuts later the Iamsu assisted ‘Contract’ mixes Bay area bounce with some Middle-Eastern flavour for a surefire standout. On Good Times Ahead, you’re never quite sure where it’s going, but it’s always a great ride.

GTA & Vince Staples drop ‘Little Bit Of This’ with Visual

GTA’s Good Times Ahead album is shaping up to be amazing. After blowing our minds with their collaborative effort with What So Not and Tunji Ige, they’re back with another stellar collab, this time tapping Vince Staples. The duo concoct a hypnotizingly wonky beat that’s dripping with dirty low end and is rounded out with a scattering of animal samples. Vince Staples steals the spotlight, skating over the beat with precise bars that take you into the streets. The blend of raw raps and chest pounding bass are exactly what you’d hope for. The cherry on top is the mean-mug inducing breakdown that closes this one out. Clocking in at under 3 minutes, you’re sure to be smashing rewind on this one. As Flume gears up for the release of Skin, the Australian producer has dropped yet another taste of the upcoming LP. ‘Smoke and Retribution’ is everything we enjoy about the current musical landscape. Vince Staples brings a hard hitting rap swagger that is juxtaposed by Kučka’s alluring vocals, all while Flume crafts the futuristic soundscape that made him a star.
