When experiencing the classic “Wuki sound” in action, we immediately question where this Grammy-nominated producer has been all our lives. While Wuki has worked his magic on collaborations with icons such as Juvenile, Stoppa, Diplo, Shaq, Skrillex and even dropping a bouncy remix of Miley Cyrus’s hit ‘Mother’s Daughter,’ if there was one artist we can trust to spice up any original, it is no other than Wuki. Dropping those grimey signature trap-inspired sounds in ‘I See You’ with Stoppa to even launching off the groove with some good old house music, this producer has been on fire since day one. Continuing to dominate the music industry space, Wuki has teamed up with Chicago-born rapper Smokepurpp for their hard-hitting single ‘Birdz’ out on HARD Recs. Warning, Wuki and Smokepurpp are about to throw it down in full force.

Pumping it off with a menacing melody alongside several flairs of bass, Smokepurpp’s classic vocals fuel listeners up as he begins to spit bars. A raw rhythmic flow indeed which plays perfectly with Wuki’s trap signature, these artists are about to drop it down low with distorted notes and a thumping bassline. Swerving throughout both Wuki and Smokepurpp’s abilities, this one is for all those feeling the hip-hop vibes with a side of hard trap-induced madness. A blessed collaboration in 2021, Wuki and Smokepurpp are not holding back as they are off to a solid start to dominate this year.

There are music producers out there who focus solely on one genre and those who experiment with several different forms. Wuki, on the other hand, has built a global fan-base by crafting his signature “Wuki Sound” which seamlessly infuses a taste of electro, house, hip-hop, trap, club and those high-energy tunes such as his epic remix of ‘Made In France.’ As a guitarist and pianist, the Grammy-nominated producer has the ability to consistently evolve his eclectic, yet energetic sound to leave us in a state of shock every time he drops something new.

Whether it be kicking off 2020 alongside Nitti Gritti during their ‘Roshambo’ tour or hosting live production sessions for aspiring producers, Wuki has earned the respect around the world not only for his admirable production skills but for naturally being himself whether on or off stage. Pushing the gas pedal with his forward-thinking sound, Wuki has recently dropped a high-tempo and trap-infused single known as ‘I See You’ featuring rapper Stoppa. If you are reading this Wuki, we see you bringing the filth to our ear-drums and we cannot be happier with the outcome.

From a mysterious buildup highlighting vocals from Stoppa himself, a backdrop of tribal drums and earthy instrumentals take the lead as if you were in the forest exploring. Providing the chance for his listeners to traverse the realms of electronic music, Stoppa’s vocals flow immaculately alongside eerie sirens depicting that mayhem is approaching. Suddenly, listeners are taken into a foolishly wonky drop to leave them in awe for more. If you are craving that slow-tempo trap fix in your life, this one is for you.

To celebrate the release of this festival-ready single, we had the pleasure of catching up with Wuki to discuss his life during quarantine, moving from Los Angeles, and how he continues to consistently shine his creativity in the music industry. Be sure to listen to ‘I See You’ which is accompanied by the interview below.

First off, you have been actively engaging with your fans during quarantine with live Twitch streams and even Q&A sessions. How did the COVID-19 crisis affect you as an artist? Did being in quarantine encourage your creativity?

Yea it is kind of funny! In a way, I have become more connected with my fans during the quarantine. Creativity has been hard, however, I try not to get too down on myself if I am not in the mood to create. This is a crazy time for all of us so I think taking care of your mental and physical health should always come first.

Nothing compares to the energy of a show. Honestly, I miss it so much. I miss seeing my friends, I miss meeting people, I miss feeling the bass in my chest. But I know it will be back and it will be better than ever.

Being recognized for pumping up crowds around the world with your dance-floor energy, what would you say you miss the most about touring?

Nothing compares to the energy of a show. Honestly, I miss it so much. I miss seeing my friends, I miss meeting people, I miss feeling the bass in my chest. But I know it will be back and it will be better than ever.

In celebration of your past release ‘Chicken Wang’ featuring Diplo and Snappy Jit, you held a special fan competition online where a few lucky winners had the chance to have free chicken wings delivered personally by you. Can you share any memorable reactions you had with your fans when you were delivering these delicious wangs?

Yea that was super fun! One of the winners went ahead and ate them in front of me, that was pretty funny!

What made you decide to make the move to Colorado? Do you see any interesting movements coming from that area in terms of the music scene?

I actually lived here for 5 years before Los Angeles. I am lucky enough to own a small house and so during this time it just made sense to restructure and prepare for the next year. And yes, bass music and house music are extremely healthy out here!

YOU ARE THE CAPTAIN OF YOUR OWN SHIP. There is no secret sauce to this. The more you put into your project, the more you get out.

You have always played an active role on social media for providing advice towards upcoming producers. If there was one piece of advice you wished you heard at the beginning of your music career, what would it be?

YOU ARE THE CAPTAIN OF YOUR OWN SHIP. There is no secret sauce to this. The more you put into your project, the more you get out.

You have played several virtual festivals this year with Insomniac, Proximity’s Digital Mirage, Shaq’s Bass All-Stars & more. Would you say it was more challenging curating a set without feeling the energy of the crowd?

Well in a way it can be more liberating. I have found myself being a bit more indulgent with my song selection. Shows can be very nerve-racking and the pressure is there to always “bang it out” so honestly, I have enjoyed being able to be a bit more creative in my sets.

I am trying to showcase all of my different styles and bring them all together with the “Wuki Sound”

Your latest track ‘I See You’ featuring Stoppa brings out hip-hop, future bass, and a trap feel to the single. Can you break down what it was like creating this unique single with Stoppa?

Stoppa is a beast in the studio! His freestyle skills are amazing. Actually this whole song was based on a freestyle I repurposed into this.

You have become globally recognized for your experimental production style which ranges from house, trap, pop, and some good old booty bass. What can your fans expect from your upcoming album release?

Exactly that! I am trying to showcase all of my different styles and bring them all together with the “Wuki Sound”

With 2020 halfway through, is there anything else you are looking forward to besides the highly-anticipated album?

I’m looking forward to getting back on the road next year (hopefully). I’m also planning out a few EP’s for 2021 so be on the lookout for that!

Los Angeles based producer Wuki is a true force to be reckoned with. Inspired by the sounds of Detroit ghetto tech and Chicago footwork scenes, Kris Barman has the ability to adapt any genre he experiments with. Whether it be house or even trap music, Wuki’s high energy and track versatility is what brings him into the spotlight. Taking a spin on DJ Snake, Tchami, Malaa and Mercer’s dance floor heater ‘Made In France,’ Wuki has just pumped things up a notch with the release of his high-speed remix.

With the recognized vocals to start the party anywhere around the world, the vocals are hit with distortion and numerous repetitions to launch right into whips of drum claps and slithering instrumentals. Exploding listeners minds with the amount of firepower released in the track, layers of bass and glitches of beaming sounds are firing off. Going even harder than the beginning, Wuki has just delivered a hard-hitting festival banger to prepare you for this summer. If you need a wake up call, I highly recommend this track for you.

Just recently we dug deeper with Nitti Gritti at Contact Music Festival 2019 which showcased this hard-hitting producer’s uplifting personality both on and off the stage. After having a solid year of accomplishments, Nitti Gritti is never the type to slow down when it comes to satisfying his audience with a fresh new take on multiple genres. As this genre bending producer is currently throwing down shows across North America with his friend Wuki on the ‘Roshambo’ Tour, our dreams have come true as they have just released their Roshambo EP. A portrayal of both Nitti Gritti and Wuki’s signature sound, the EP consists of original vocals from the boys themselves, high tempo madness and even some wonky trap to prove that the sky is the limit for these two producers.

As each track builds upon each other, both eclectic producers share their sense of humor with ‘The Greatest EDM Intro.’ Let me tell you this may be one of the best intros to an EP as Nitti Gritti may just be a little tipsy playing the guitar while both producers sing their hearts out on the track. With no stopping in mind, Nitti Gritti and Wuki bring listeners into the world of electronic music as fast tempo vocals become apparent in ‘We Don’t Stop.’ With whispers upon whispers of these producers encouraging you to not slow down on the dance floor, colossal amounts of distortion and futuristic instrumentals are aligned with some solid tech-house to pump up any party. We all know that if Wuki is on a track, things need to slow down a notch sometimes. Incorporating piercing frequencies and low synths to creep up on listeners, those who are trying to get a little wonky are in for a treat. Making listeners ‘Swet’ with innovative breaks and vibrant percussion’s, Nitti Gritti and Wuki bring out their passion for house music as a pounding bass line infused with pulsating chimes lead you into a futuristic world. Now my personal favorite ‘Ro Sham Bo,’ needs no explanation besides absolutely being the cherry on top to the EP. A fury of bass and alarming sounds alert listeners for the explosion to come, as a series of lasers fire off aligned with waves of these producers favorite production styles. If there was a way to describe how attendees feel during the ‘Roshambo’ Tour with Nitti Gritti and Wuki, this EP would definitely be it.

Wuki is the unrivaled king of booty-shaking bass. No matter the project the LA-based producer decides to tackle, there is always the certainty of knowing that the product will be able to turn a dull crowd into an energetic scene. His recent endeavours are no exception to this statement, as Wuki continues to push his club-driven sound to new limits with two distinctly different tracks in his 2 EP, out now on Tchami’s Confession label.

In ‘NYC 2 LA’ featuring Roxanna, Wuki goes deeper than he has ever gone in a future house/bass house heater accented by a relentless thumping bass line, crisp vocal chops and raw club intensity. Conversely, in ‘Afraid 2 Rave’, the talented artist explores a more traditional style of rave music but adds a futuristic touch to the piece. Again highlighted by ceaseless throbbing beats, Wuki adds neuro elements and an old school main synth to transcend decades of dance music in a single track. Check out both tracks below and let us know which is your favourite!

Wuki is no stranger to pushing genres to new limits. The LA-based producer is known for his booty-shaking take on bass music, but often explores new realms in remixes and in his coveted WUKILEAKS. His ability to always add something funky and fresh to each and every release is one of the main reasons why he is at the top of the game, and today’s release is no exception. His latest, titled ‘Go Deep,’ is a further display of the forward-thinking mentality Wuki has displayed over the years. In fact, the producer doesn’t even know how to label his new masterpiece, asking fans on Twitter “What would you call this genre?”, adding “I don’t know how to describe it lol”.

‘Go Deep’, released on Spinnin’ Records, features vocals from the late Nicky Da B that sound inspired by old school hip-hop, but Wuki was able to fuse them into his flawless production perfectly. The lively atmosphere set in the introduction continues to grow as the track progresses, with Wuki adding groovy bass lines and maybe one of the catchiest melodies of 2018 before even reaching the forty second mark. The addition of punchy kicks and crisp hi-hats round out the track into the banger that it is, keeping listeners entertained for the entirety of the three minutes.

Here’s to Wuki keeping it fresh. Stream ‘Go Deep’ below!

LA based producer Wuki has been setting dance floors on fire for years. Whether it’s hard-hitting originals, epic edits, wild bootlegs or official remixes, when you see Wuki’s name on a song you know it’ll get you dancing. His talent has not gone unrecognized with releases on OWSLA, Fool’s Gold and more. He’s fresh off a crazy B2B set with QUIX at Ultra and will be playing the Heineken House at Coachella this weekend and next. Wuki’s star is currently burning brighter than ever. In addition to playing some of the biggest festivals out, he’s also on the brink of launching his own record label WUKILEAKS which will be the home for his upcoming EP Wukipedia Vol 1. We caught up with Wuki for an exclusive interview to talk about the label, his upcoming EP, making money as an artist and more. He also tells us who he’d love to form a supergroup with, the key ingredients to his sets and even talks about A.I. Read the full interview below and be sure to check him out at Coachella if you’re headed there!

Can you tell us a little bit about Wukipedia, Vol 1? What’s the sound you’re striving for? When can we expect it?

Wukipedia Vol. 1 is an EP of 2 originals and 1 remix I am releasing over the next month or so. The vibe I am striving for is for fun, booty-shaking, bass music that puts a smile on your face. I recruited some really cool artists and can’t wait to get it out there.

The industry is changing, more and faster everyday, my goal is to always be able to adapt and deliver.

You recently announced the launch of your new label WUKILEAKS. Do you remember the specific moment that you decided you wanted to start a label? What’s your goal as a label head?

I noticed the response I was getting from my bootlegs and wanted to use it as a platform for my original music as well. With a massive original catalog, the idea of shopping all the tunes was pretty daunting. Although labels can be super powerful, they tend to have a lot of red tape, and working with their timelines can be a struggle. I think we’re seeing a trend of artists putting music out on their own because you have a lot of freedom and room to explore ways to get your music to your fans. The industry is changing, more and faster everyday, my goal is to always be able to adapt and deliver.

If your DJ sets were a recipe what would the key ingredients be?

Fun, 808s, silly vocals, and BASS!!!

Now that Swedish House Mafia are back together, the idea of supergroups is top of mind. What two artists would you team up with if you were going to form your own supergroup?

Missy Elliot and TNGHT.

In previous interviews you’ve mentioned the importance of having fun when creating music. How do you bring the fun back to producing if you hit a rut?

You’re not always going to write a massive hit in a session, it doesn’t matter, you have to realize that you got into music BECAUSE it’s fun, then things will become clearer.

Like it or not, part of the job of an artist is also to be creative how we generate income.

You’ve got some of the biggest edits and bootlegs out and your reputation just keeps getting stronger. Are you coming for Benzi’s crown?

Benzi is my boy, I don’t think I can ever take the crown. TBH, its not a competition, I just look at it as a way to be creative with edits, and ask myself “how can I blow peoples minds?”

On Willy Joy’s podcast you blatantly said that music is free now. Are there any new ways artists can make money aside from the standard routes?

100%, more ways than ever now. Think of all the media out there, shows/movies/games/whatever. There is exponentially more content out now that needs music. Besides that, you can stream on twitch, make sample packs, do remixes…there’s just more of everything. Like it or not, part of the job of an artist is also to be creative how we generate income.

A.I. is definitely going to be a huge factor in our lifetimes. I’m worried they will make better edits than me.

You’ve spoken about crypto currency in past interviews. Are there any other technologies on the horizon that excite you?

Yea I am kind of a future junkie. I read/listen to a lot of content about this stuff. A.I. is definitely going to be a huge factor in our lifetimes. I’m worried they will make better edits than me.

You’ve released quite a few booty loving anthems. Do you a have a personal fascination or is it strictly musical?

Who doesn’t love to shake their booty? To me, shaking your booty is directly correlated with dancing. So it’s for everyone, boys and girls, SHAKE DAT ASS!

I genuinely care about the dance music scene and I think it’s a beautiful, positive community we can build together.

Any final thoughts for your fans?

I want to care about the people that care about me. That’s what Wukileaks is. Besides my label, I want it to be my group of fans that really give a shit about me. I genuinely care about the dance music scene and I think it’s a beautiful, positive community we can build together.
