While Migos’ ‘Bad and Boujee’ is currently taking over the world, their newest single ‘T-Shirt’ is about to take off too. Adding fuel to the fire comes a massive remix from Y2K and AVIDD. Destructo, Y2K & Blanke Deliver Remixes Of Peking Duk’s ‘Stranger’

Australian hit makers Peking Duk are about to boost the excitement around their Elliphant assisted smash ‘Stranger’ with a fresh batch of remixes. Kicking things off comes Destructo’s house reinterpretation. While the intro maintains a moderately upbeat aesthetic, it isn’t long before the bottom drops out making way for some dark, deep wobbles. Y2K’s flip is pure summer. It’s day drinking on the grass with no shoes on. It’s a nostalgic reflection of a time when life was almost too easy. Blanke closes things out with deceivingly devilish remix with the first drop coming through to slaughter. Things mellow out as it progresses but it’s a stark contrast to Y2K’s mellow vibes. Stream all three below and look out for a second remix pack (featuring Jackal, Wax Motif and Faux Tales) dropping in a few weeks.

This Alexander Lewis & Y2K ‘Chimes’ Flip Is Truly Epic

Epic is a term that is grossly overused and undervalued but every so often a track comes out that is truly deserving of the descriptor. Hudson Mohawke’s ‘Chimes’ is one of these works. The combination of entrancing synths, massive brass and bouncing bass make it absolutely monstrous. It’s the type of record that most producers wouldn’t dare touch, but Alexander Lewis and Y2K aren’t most producers.

For those unfamiliar, Lewis is hot off his highly acclaimed trombone flip of Carmack’s classic ‘Pay (For What)’. Prior to that he was slaughtering SoundCloud with releases like ‘Dangerous’ and ‘So Nice’. Y2K has been killing it in a similar fashion: see ‘A Milli’ & ‘On & On’. All this brings us to their interpretation of ‘Chimes’. The iconic synths pulls you in while the drops are highlighted with Alexander Lewis’ powerful trombone work. The flip features more movement than the original and somehow manages to feel even more cinematic. It sounds like something that should be blasted through a temple of floor to ceiling marble to celebrate a glorious victory. If that’s not in the cards, a good pair of headphones or speakers will do. Y2K Drops Massive Rework of Dr. Fresch’s ‘On & On’

“On and on and on and on and…” the infectious yet simplistic vocals made Fresch’s January release a quick favourite among fans and DJs alike. Giving the track new life comes a remix from Y2K. The producer traps things out, giving it a new vibe while perfectly utilizing elements from the original. Stretching the vocals before the drops gives listeners a distinct feeling of pent up excitement. A feeling which is quickly satisfied with pitched down vocal crops, dark bass and some dubbed out wobbles. The sound is built on further after an uplifting bridge for a finale that packs the aforementioned deep bass with water droplets, lip pops and some slapping drum work. All this adds up to rework which just may outshine the original. Stream below and grab that download.
