Cordae delivers these bars on the opening of his debut album The Lost Boy. After giving the song and project even just one listen you’ll realize he’s just not stuntin’ on listeners or being disrespectful, he’s truly here to takeover. I had my doubts about Cordae before listening to his music, mainly due to his YBN affiliation, but with every track he’s proved his immense talent and potential. With stellar singles leading up to the album and an incredible list of guests, expectations could hardly be higher. Cordae took this to heart on The Lost Boy, delivering one of the most impressive debuts I’ve heard in years.

While I had originally pegged Cordae as a mumble rapper, I couldn’t be more incorrect in my assumptions. Across The Lost Boy Cordae flexes his skills in every way possible. From delivering raw bars on ‘Wintertime’ and ‘Broke As Fuck,’ to flexing in and out flows with Anderson .Paak on ‘RnP,’ to vivid storytelling on ‘Thanksgiving’ and ‘Bad Idea’. Still not convinced? How about the timely cultural commentary on the concept record ‘Thousand Words’ or the deeply personal ‘Family Matters?’ As if all that wasn’t enough, he more than holds his weight with some of the sharpest emcees in the game on tracks with Pusha T and Meek Mill.

The Lost Boy is a versatile but focused debut proving YBN Cordae is here and he’s the future.
