Lido is currently one of the best producers in electronic music, period. The volume, consistency and quality of his releases have made this an undebatable fact. It’s become commonly accepted that everything he puts will be amazing, but what if he decides to drastically switch it up and a drop an R&B influenced Passion Project? His new joint EP with Santell is just that, and it’s pretty impressive. The production is a mixture of classic R&B influences and the futuristic feels Lido has made synonymous with his name. Santell holds up his end of the project with passionate, sultry and often hilarious vocals. From wanting to “tip her even though she ain’t a stripper” on ‘Ashley,’ to the slow burning “feathers everywhere feathers every-fucking-where” on ‘Pillows’ and the confessional that is ‘Your Lady’s a Hoe,’ it’s clear Santell is not your typical R&B star, but that’s just another part of the appeal.
