Today Malaa unveils his first project with release of the Illicit EP. From the outset Illicit let’s you know this is not your average house record. A fierce voice lets you know, “You can listen to this shit at the club and go Rob a bank after words. It’s real. This is the jungle. ” If that doesn’t get you hyped to bump this, I don’t know what will. From there comes the lead single ‘Diamonds,’ which blends infectious rap samples with steel drums and an undeniable groove. Things get weirder from then on with the hypnotizing ‘Frequency’ leading the charge. The project closes with ‘Danger, ‘ a track that is sinister and relentless with massive bass. Overall Illicit gives fans the hip-hop inspired house sounds we’ve come to love while expanding beyond what’s previously been done. Stream below.
