Part Native is a production duo that showed up on the scene in 2015, but their yearling-status is not inhibiting them from mixing some deep dirty bass with high pitched flutes and fluttering snares that are simultaneously irresistible and satiating. Both members are of Cherokee descent, and classify their sound as Cherokee Trap.
Their latest release ‘Purp’ has a spicy swagger to it. This is an excellent strain of classic dub-step sound, but the robust, belly-dragging bass is all trap and future Bass. Upon first inhale ‘Purp’ is a familiar kind of banger, but don’t underestimate the ability of Part Native: there are many levels to this high. Breathy vocals, growling bass, and cocked-gun effects are used to excite, but what makes ‘Purp’ really delicious is that there is never a rush to a precipice; this is a confident, sultry production of bass music that is not holding back on intensity. The style of moving through the track aggressively keeps a listener hooked, just as eyes hook onto each flicker of a fire’s flame; before even making out its shape another rises.
