In case you’ve been sleeping, Barclay Crenshaw is the real name and latest project from legendary DJ/Producer Claude Von Stroke. For the past few months he’s been continually wowing us with singles like ‘The Gene Sequence’ and ‘The Real X-Files.’ and his amazing Transmission 001 mix. Continuing his string of impressive releases comes the self titled full length album. It expands on the sound we’ve fallen in love with; spacey and otherworldly elements that are grounded by hip hop influence. And while that may be its core, it drifts in many directions from laid back trip hop, to raw rap, jungle leanings and so much more. With guest appearances from The Cool Kids, The Underachievers, Lady Chann, Aviella and Mr. Carmack, this is a must listen. The whole project sounds like it was crafted by an alien race that studied earth through 90’s hip hop. If that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will.
