Peekaboo Bring Bass To New Borders With ‘Imposters’ EP

by Alessio Anesi

If Razat‘s distortions, Jon Casey‘s forward-thinking ideas or Elex‘s brutal force weren’t enough for you, today I’m sure you’ll leave this page profoundly pleased since Peekaboo has gone full alien mode, putting together a soundtrack from outer space. Very cinematic, frantic human screams and robotic voices frame what is a new boundary for experimental bass, a hybrid that embeds all the features of this genre but displays them in a way that cannot fail to remember some old school dubstep vibes. It’s admirable how, despite the ruggedness, all the four tracks of the EP work for festival stages, where you can test out all their mighty power, as well as for a home listen, where instead you can go in for the nerdy details.

We can dare to make comparisons, but right now Peekaboo and his “area 51 hyperbolic time chamber type beat” (as defined by a Soundcloud user) is definitely a one of a kind, a niche thought that has already gained acknowledgment nand support by giants the like of Bassnectar, Rezz, Hex Cougar.

Catch the full EP below, and be prepared to be sucked in a wormhole and tossed somewhere across the solar system.
