k?d‘s evolution as an artist is revealed with the industrial banger, ‘A.I’. If you have been lucky enough to catch Patrick Cybulski on stage this year, you may recognize this unique track, and are likely delighted at the news that he is headlining his first tour and just announced his debut EP.
k?d’s Find Paradise tour kicks off on September 14th and will include more than 25 dates all over North America. Prepare for stunning custom visuals, stunning stage set up, and the freshest, new music off his latest EP.
The latest track from k?d has a hyper aggressive and futuristic flavor and is the first from the upcoming, and yet to be named, EP. ‘A.I.’ is as sleek, shiny, and intense as any imagined corporeal AI would be. With its quick-paced tempo, ricocheting laser beam affects, and throbbing bass lines, there is plenty to sink your teeth into without feeling overwhelmed. Each section of this track has its own character, but click together like puzzle pieces to carry the maniacal-mechanical theme.
What I like most about k?d’s style is that is straight forward, and stripped down but still smashes bass in your face, and vibrates your ribs. The intensity is not about how much the sounds are playing off each other, but how crisply they dovetail into a menacingly dark electro-pulsation. Devilishness is dashed into the mix with the tin-man, computerized vocal sample, that seems like the love child between robo-cop, and the Google Maps’s default lady-voice.
