Cozway Amazes Once Again With ‘Nightshade’

by Alessio Anesi

Cozway and Jadu Dala, name a more iconic duo, I dare you. The success of their collaborations is always a safe bet and the results are killer combonations that never miss to ensure a KO at first listen. ‘Nightshade’ kicks off with a cinematic intro. It’s a sinister and menacing welcome but also classy like a Bengali tiger. Without knowing, Cozway is likely to imagine a Jungle Terror or a Tribal Trap outcome after this initial segment but boys and girls, it’s not that easy-peasy.

The Canadian producer has already established his very own style and when the drop hits we end up facing an undefined hybrid creature. ‘Nightshade’ is indeed a chimera, with an experimental trap core but heavily enriched by a spot on selection of evocative sounds that lie outside the current basic genre’s standards. It deeply interacts with the listeners imagination, bringing their minds to wander outside the artist’s studio and through sci-fi nature scenarios. It’s a joy to find, in this more and more saturated niche, this kind of tune that still involves listeners in a creative process, making them more than just receptacles for technical wonders.
