Sombre Issue A ‘Warning’ In Their Latest House Heater

by Steph Contant

French house music is evolving at an unprecedented rate and is making its mark on the electronic scene, and today’s up-and-coming producers are clear evidence of this statement. Since the creation of the Sombre project approximately one year ago, the young French duo have released two tracks on two different labels; a dark yet groovy track titled ‘Downtown’ on Drop Fire Records, and a G-house heater titled Mask ‘On My Face’ on Noir Sur Blanc. In addition, they have released a few tracks and remixes independently, and even won a remix contest for Valy Mo on his track ‘The Call’ earlier this year. All this to say that Sombre are extremely talented and should definitely be on your radar if they aren’t on it yet.

Yesterday, the duo came back from a short hiatus to deliver one of their most remarkable tracks to date. ‘Warning’ starts off in a distinctive house loop before a perky airline-inspired chorus takes over. The presence of grimy synths in the background indicate the inevitable arrival of a dirty industrial beat, and that’s exactly what hits. As the name of the group suggests, they create a sombre yet groovy soundscape that’s bound to tear up dance floors across the world. Fans of Drezo or Malaa would definitely dig ‘Warning’ and everything else these guys have to offer.
