#tbt – Salvatore Ganacci – Dive feat. Enya & Alex Aris (Vincent Remix)

by A. Samuel Lewis

Tracks You May Have Missed is back! After a 2 year hiatus, our weekly Thursday feature highlighting slept on tracks is reborn. Each week we’ll be bringing you a new under-the-radar gem that you may have missed. Today we’re kicking things off with a remix from Vincent.

Performing and producing under the moniker XVII for the initial stages of his career before eventually maturing into the image and sound of Vincent, Robert Hughes has quickly distinguished himself as one of Canada’s most talented electronic musicians.

With an astonishing arsenal of self-released solos and famed repertoire of well-oiled remixes, Vincent has identified a unique complex sound, brilliantly melding the ingredients of trap and future bass in a style that is unmatched.

One of the earliest tunes that truly caught my eye from Vincent, was a remix of Salvatore Ganacci & Enya’s ‘Dive’, which he originally teased in his SnowGlobe 2016 set. Still one of my favorite tracks to this date, this remix is an absolute hidden gem — and one that seems to get swept under the rug in the vast expanse of Vincent’s stacked library of releases.

The gentle humming melody instantly ropes you into the song and continues to entangle you within a web of nostalgia and elation as the wavering synths lull into a crisp, impassioned vocal ensemble. A soft snare pattern joins the chorus, growing steadily in volume as a riveting vocal loop echoes in the backdrop.

The vocals of the track cut out in perfect synchronicity with an oncoming tidal wave of floral synths overwhelming you, while expertly timed breaks are laced with the familiar echoing vocal loop and rolling drum clips. A well-placed closing riser unwinds the tune briefly, reintroducing the shrill vocal accompaniment, providing a swift respite before the second tide of synths surges and engulfs you once again.

Vincent demonstrates the depth of his talent with his interpretation of Salvatore Ganacci’s ‘Dive’. Unveiling a much more emotional, synth-heavy side, while maintaining the acute attention to detail that his fans have grown to love.

With his latest single release ‘We Could’ featuring vocals from Ayelle, I expect nothing but great things from Vincent in the coming year and can’t wait to watch his style further grow and develop.
