Versatility Shines In ‘Not All The Beautiful Things’ Remixes

by Steph Contant

A strong contender for project of the year, What So Not‘s debut album Not All The Beautiful Things greatly surpassed all expectations. Chris Emerson explored foreign territories while staying true to his roots with pristine production matched with unparalleled versatility. So, when the legendary Aussie producer announced (more) remixes for Not All The Beautiful Things, fans wished for added diversity and continued greatness. Fortunately, both of these criteria were met, and once again, exceeded.

A combination of electronic music’s most esteemed artists and fastest rising up-and-comers, the eleven-track remix album is sure to tap into all of your senses. Boasting flips of ‘Stuck In Orbit’, ‘Goh’, ‘Beautiful’ and ‘If You Only Knew’, each remix offers a different musical experience bound to please a wide range of listeners.

Slow Hours member Kidswaste and Anjuna-favourite Luttrell tackled ‘Stuck In Orbit’, sharing a serene yet groovy and a melodic techno take on the track, respectively. ‘Goh’, the anthemic collaboration with Skrillex and KLP, was remixed by AC Slater, Champagne Drip and Signal, leaders in their respective genres. A funky bass line shines in the Night Bass founder’s offering, while Champagne Drip unleashes gritty bass madness in his work and Signal creates organized chaos in his astounding remix. Flawless future bass from graves, wonky havoc from Daktyl and genre-defying bass from 12th Planet briefly describe the brilliance behind the ‘If You Only Knew’ remixes. Finally, Yvng Jalapeño, Eskei83 and MaRLo round out the wild journey with banging takes on ‘Beautiful’, left for you to discover on your own.

It would be a sin to try to put the artistry behind each remix into words, which is why you should give each one a listen and find your personal favourite. Check out the Not All The Beautiful Things remixes below!
