Msft. & Duke & Jones Set The New Louis The Child Remix EP On Fire

by Alessio Anesi

With well over one hundred millions streams, Louis The Child’s Kids At Play EP certainly had a huge echo in the scene, pushing the career of the Chicago duo to a new level. On Spotify for example, the leading track of the project, ‘Better Not’ has nearly doubled the success of previous LTC classics like ‘It’s Strange’ or ‘Fire’.

Now, five months later, to keep the momentum, they’ve put together a remix pack with 9 brand new variations. They included material for every taste: House, Future Bass, Trap, weird stuff. Since we at FUXWITHIT are a bunch of weirdo bassheads, of course our favourites are included in the latest two.

Actually there’s a touch of romanticism in the story of msft.’s ‘Space Jam’ remix. It all started as one of his outstanding but unofficial remixes uploaded on SoundCloud. It wasn’t long before Interscope sensed the potential of the track and put it under contract. And they were damn right, we have to say. In its original version, ‘Space Jam’ is one of the most energetic tracks of the EP, but it keeps the gleeful and bright mood that characterizes Kids At Play. The Italian producer instead, after just teasing a similar atmosphere in the intro, unleashes a ferocious storm of filthy synths in the drop. It’s like acid techno squeezed in a bass format.

Unlike ‘Space Jam,’ which is completely instrumental, ‘Breaking News’ brings in emotions with RAYE’s vocals. This didn’t prevent Duke & Jones from going full guerrilla mode. The remix starts misleadingly like the original, just with a more trap base, but forty seconds after, you’re in another dimension. Horns, flutes, minimal drums; what once was a pop song, is now a first class trap dungeon banger.
