PREMIERE: runnit & yojas Showcase Collaborative Power With ‘locudown’

by Colin

runnit and yojas should be no strangers to FUXWITHIT fans. We’ve had the pleasure of doing premieres for both artists in the past, but today we get the honour of presenting you with their first collaborative effort. After connecting on SoundCloud through a mutual respect for each other’s work, they worked on a few projects that never saw the light of day. Over time they kept in touch and runnit sent ‘locudown’ to yojas when he wanted a little help finishing it off. The result of them coming together is stellar.

A soft but tantalizing introduction leads to a series of claps and an underlying riser building the excitement. When a chopped and pitched Redman sample hits your ears, you know it’s game on. runnit takes us into the first drop with his signature wonky trap filth. You can practically feel the grime leaking out of your headphones as it plays out. The break maintains a steady pulse while an intriguing melody adds depth. The second drop is all yojas; a massive bass-heavy section that sees his signature sounds and samples scattered throughout (including my personal favorite: the bird squawk). Adding to the impressiveness of this one is the originality. runnit elaborated on this telling us, “everything is original-made bass sounds – no resampling from splice or anything.” runnit and yojas continue to impress and ‘locudown’ is no exception.
