Rohaan and Laxcity are two of the UK’s finest rising producers. Rohaan has made a name for himself with his mind-bending sound design and grabbed the attention of a myriad of labels including Saturate, Quality Goods Records, Circus, Deadbeats, Jadu Dala and more. Laxcity tends to occupy the other side of electronic music; where Rohaan is dark and dirty, Laxcity’s music is often rich with beauty and almost heavenly (see ‘Good Morning’). Despite their differentiating styles, they’re no strangers to coming together, having already collaborated on ‘First Of Many’ and their ‘Us’ remix. Today, they’re releasing their third collaboration entitled ‘Rotary.’ “Every time josh visits we try to start/finish an idea. And this one just seems to be a cool little time capsule of that,” Rohaan tells us.
‘Rotary’ is an auditory journey filled with fresh twists and turns along the way. Opening with an airy soundscape, ‘Rotary’ takes you to the peak of a sun-drenched mountaintop as brisk air fills your lungs. Fast moving drums elevate your heart rate as digital glitches allude to a more ominous adventure ahead. A break builds tension as the scene darkens and an electrical storm quickly rolls in. The reflective clarity you once felt is a distant memory as you’re thrust into survival mode. Mutated polar bears roam wildly and pterodactyls soar overhead.
