PREMIERE: Jon Casey Blends Vibes and Knock On ‘Rosalind’

by Colin

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of premiering Jon Casey’s Quality Goods Records Mix, giving fans a sample of his new EP Catharsis. Today, the full project arrives featuring 5 incredible originals with features from Aedfx x Dabow, Hendrik Joerges and The Oshi. Closing out the project is a stunning solo effort entitled ‘Rosalind’. “Rosalind is a name that came to me out of nowhere. For some reason it just stuck. I imagine the song being a ‘Rosey’ color, meshing pink and purple and you have to agree, the name is a pretty one <3,” Jon tell us. As you press press play you’re sure to see the colours swirling amidst your mind. It sounds like one of those rare summer nights where the sun is setting and the sky is somehow a pink hue.

It’s an interesting vibe. The opening is inviting and upbeat with a strong underlying chill. The melody is hypnotic while the drums posses a hazy cloud trap sound reminiscent of High Klassified. The soundscape draws you outside into a beautiful exotic locale. What really makes ‘Rosalind’ so impressive is its progression. The track never stagnates, moving from mellow to knocking, to borderline turnt, all the while feeling so smooth and never losing its signature groove.

Jon Casey summarizes it best stating, “The song basically acts as a little gift wrap, finishing the EP off with a powerful beat but soft melodies to take you on a little trip, having you sort of reminisce on the EP you just heard in just one song.” Bump it below, peep the visual experience and then go check out the full EP out today on Quality Goods Records.
