JSTJR Refuses To Be Defined By A Genre With ‘Creatures’ EP

by Victor Lovo

L.A. based producer JSTJR has constantly experimented with different elements of house and world beats to give us his one-of-a-kind moombah/house style. He has seen releases on Mad Decent and Insomniac Records in recent years, and this time returns with his ‘Creatures’ EP filled with a variety of sub-genres and energy levels.

Beginning with a collab with Rawtek, ‘Go Stoopid’ is a speed-house banger filled with the pairs’ distinct tribal drums and stabbing vocal hits that carry the track throughout. Next up we have ‘Oh My My’ with Snappy Jit, which is a festival-ready bounce track centered around a hypnotic vocal lead and complemented by a distorted lead synth. Following this, we have ‘I See You,’ which is a more club-oriented house track with the spotlight being on a gritty lead synth playing the melody, accompanied by groovy percussion elements. Finishing off with ‘Put In That Work,’ this track is heavily moombah-oriented, with a strong emphasis on the lead hi-pitched synths which complement the rhythm of the track.
