TNGHT’s ‘Dollaz’ was easily one of the biggest and best songs of the year. I don’t say that lightly, it was actually #10 on our list. The simple but addictive vocals combined with the pristine trap production made it the perfect track to embody TNGHT’s long-awaited return. Remixing a release of this magnitude is no easy feat, but if anyone can pull it off, its innovative producer Rome In Silver.
Opening with the simple vocal loop that provides its namesake, Rome in Silver adds in upbeat claps and trippy melodic layers. The first drop is aggressive and trappy, underscored by the car alarm samples and overall smattering of unique sounds. Breaking it down with some gorgeous flute work, the vocals continue to drive things ahead. Where Rome takes us next is completely outside expectations. The pulsing drop is stripped down drawing heavy club influence with the kick drum playing the starring role. Never to stagnate the track flips upside down again as a myriad of sounds enter the song to completely revamp the energy.
Rome In Silver’s ‘Dollaz’ edit is a wild thrill ride that proves to be a tasteful and worthy re-imagination of TNGHT’s incredible original.
