Always one step ahead in the music industry, Allen Mock is welcoming listeners into a new dimension of slow-tempo goodness with ‘Echo.’ Envisioning his music to portray traditional sounds with a futuristic twist, the name Allen Mock is a familiar name to many in the bass and hybrid-trap music scene. Throwing it down at a few of Tokyo’s most prestigious venues, if you have not caught an Allen Mock set live in action I highly recommend you check him out. With hypnotizing slow-tempo instrumental and a vortex of climatic bass elements, Allen Mock is a man of many talents. With his stage name being inspired by his mother’s Korean restaurant in Tokyo, from the very first day I met this legend in action I knew he was going to shine bright in the music industry and he clearly did not disappoint. Today, he has iconic releases on various labels including Quality Goods Records, Bite This! and even appearing on the official Fast And Furious 9 album.

Entering a futuristic aural environment where the raindrops even drip with electrifying sound, Allen Mock slows down the tempo to the point where listeners are becoming one with his signature ever-evolving sound design in ‘Echo.’ As a series of frequencies morph as if a tornado is about to approach, a slow-tempo, yet filthy instrumental energizes the track to deliver one of the nastiest frequencies which radiate throughout the single. A ticking-time-bomb of unmatched creativity, this producer’s foolishly dark and unforeseen instrumentals are enriched in this new single. Always riding his own wave in the electronic music scene, there is no stopping Allen Mock as he continues to prove he is a force not to take lightly.

Be sure to listen to FUXWITHIT exclusive premiere of Allen Mock’s ‘Echo’ below.

Allen Mock is an artist who always allows the music to speak for itself which has undeniably contributed to his successful career growth over the years. An experimental producer who is not afraid to dig deep into the realms of bass and hybrid trap music, Allen Mock is a name we will never get tired of seeing on stages. After recently throwing down in the heart of Tokyo during Herbalistek’s very own SECTOR event at Sound Museum Vision, this talented artist continues to bless his fanbase in Japan with a series of classics and unreleased gems. Only continuing to progress in the music industry across the globe, Allen Mock is taking the elements of time into his hands with ‘Our Hour’ released on the one and only Quality Goods Records.

As the clock begins to tick alongside sub-bass frequencies and distorted levels, it is time to enter Allen Mock’s vortex of slow-tempo pure synth and low-tempo bass lines. Experimentation at its finest level, a fury of clock ticking samples become apparent as time begins to slow down for all listeners. Letting those absolutely grimey instrumentals and slithering sound design become music to our ears, Allen Mock is definitely on another wavelength in the music industry.

This song holds a very special place in my heart. I made the track with the intention of using ‘time’ and ‘clocks’ as a theme. I am endlessly fascinated by the way time passes and how we can feel like time slows down or speeds up depending on what music we are listening to. I wanted to express that idea through this song!
-Allen Mock

What happens when two bass connoisseurs join forces to collaborate on a single? Metal wrenching basslines and wonky frequencies is right, as Yung Jalapeño and Allen Mock recently dropped an explosive collaboration to ‘Activate’ the bass scene. Released on Jauz’s very own imprint known as BITE THIS, if you are trying to get a little weird in your room look no further as these producers are showcasing their forward-thinking sound along with a side of spicy wubs.

Both having the ability to balance off one another, Yung Jalapeño and Allen Mock begin to creep up on listeners through the use of eerie instrumentals and distorted vocals which act as a ticking bomb until full activation. Launching in full force, razor sharp cutting-edge sounds, mechanical drops and explosions of bass lure you into their space-like production style to get weird in your room and hopefully on the dancefloor soon. Already proven to go off at iconic venues such as Toronto’s Rebel Nightclub and even Los Angeles’s Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall by the bass don known as Jauz himself, the elements of surprise throughout the track clearly work in these producers favor. From a Metal Gear sample alert, jaw-dropping snares and even a splash of futuristic bass house, this track brings out a vibe not many can sit still to. By drawing on several inspirations incorporated in their experimental production style, Yung Jalapeño and Allen Mock are two forces who are only getting warmed up for the season.

Two major production forces hailing from international waters, Tokyo-based duo HERBALISTEK and solo authority Allen Mock have emphatically captured the attention of listeners worldwide. Putting to rest an impeccable debut year of collaborations and accolades, such as collaborative release ‘Okami’ with Oski via Quality Goods Records or the conjoint effort in ‘Premonition,’ which have only aided the future trajectory and creative potential between the two parties.

Making an entrance into the new decade with urgency, Allen Mock and HERBALISTEK connect for a two-part collaborative project, which truly depicts the sonic range and production diversity that each brings to the table. A stripped-down dystopian soundscape presents an ominous introduction to ‘Frenetic’ before a tumultuous mixdown unleashes a fury of deep bass plunges and incisive drum fills. In contrast, ‘Tectonic’ opens with cinematic supremacy, utilizing triumphant horns and mesmerizing synths to create an immense sense of anticipation before diving headfirst into a spiral of wildly vacillating bass, speckled with a delectable sonorous synth melody.

Needless to say, 2020 is shaping up to be an outstanding year for Tokyo-natives Allen Mock and HERBALISTEK. Be sure to keep it locked and check out the two-track collaborative EP from the two below!

In salutation of his sophomore year, the two-track ARIGATOU EP is positioned as a synopsis of styles and a token of sincere reflection for the progress that Allen Mock has made since first starting the project.

“This EP is ultimately more of a genuine expression of gratitude to the listeners and supporters of my music that constantly share or stream my content, and even the name itself is derived from the Japanese phrase for ‘Thank You’,” Mock shares regarding some of the initial inspiration for releasing the two-part ensemble to close out the year.

“Both tracks represent a very original side of me, in the sense that, towards the end of the year I started to advance into a more free-flowing experimental style, exploring areas outside of my immediate comfort zone, and sort of subconsciously strayed away from creating the signature hybrid trap style that I’ve always loved,” he continues regarding the process of re-centering his focus after a short period of testing the waters in other styles.

Encapsulating an outstanding year of creative output, ARIGATOU is Allen Mock’s closing remarks to the year 2019.

Deep in the underground of Circus Tokyo, the main room begins to warm up as guests are fueled with anticipation for a night of foolishly dark and futuristic sounds. As the cinematic visuals appear on the back-screen, the crowd erupts in excitement as they prepare to be taken on journey through Allen Mock’s world of pure filth and mystery. With bizarre snare patterns and contagious bass lines, Tae Hong Kim is no stranger to the bass scene as he continues to fuel his listeners through his experimental production style. From absolutely destroying EDC Japan’s main stage to collaborating with his best friends Herbalistek on their explosive remix of ATLien’s ‘Shelter,’, the amount of dedication to his craft is truly personified in his music. By building a community of like-minded individuals in Tokyo, Allen Mock is showing no signs of slowing down as he takes on a monstrous remix of Roksonix’s ‘Dogfight.’

As waves of bass explosions take over the track, the tempo begins to rise as you are greeted by Allen Mock’s key element of surprise. With insanity at it’s finest, wonky sub frequencies and slithering synths entice listeners to lose control of everything in sight. If you know Allen Mock then you are aware he just getting started, as rapid drum claps lead into a full on psy-trance extravaganza. Firing bullets at 150 beats per minute, Allen Mock shifts levels by drawing influence from his signature futuristic sound to welcome listeners to a new dimension of bass music.

Tokyo’s Allen Mock has an unprecedented ability to re-envision a track with an authentic impression in mind. Preserving select aspects of the original, he makes a deliberate effort to integrate tactics of his own to ensure a flattering balance between cogency and familiarity in each of his remixes.

Setting his sights towards IVORY’s ‘Unbreakable,’ Mock reflects on the middle-eastern symbolism within the original as providing the primary inspiration to integrate his own vision within the track, “When I heard ‘Unbreakable’ for the first time, I instantly felt connected with the break and build as well as the inescapable desert-like atmosphere of the track,” he reflects.

A sense of nostalgia washes over you as the unmistakable chorus of elaborate strings and eclectic percussion swing into action. Subtle rearrangements and additional layers of subs provide a heightened sensation of depth to the introduction, which works to build a progressive momentum in even the earliest stages of the track. “The challenge here was to make my lead as authentic as possible so that my personal style fits and flows effortlessly with IVORY’s buildup,” Mock shares regarding finding a balance between the two styles.

As the empowering vocal countdown crawls into periphery Mock’s treatment becomes vividly discernible, layering prolonged surges of bass with intricate mixdowns and even adding an unsuspecting Psytrance switch-up to round off the track with a bang.

Be sure to check out Allen Mock’s take on ‘Unbreakable’ below and grab the free download.

Breaking into the scene just over a year ago, Spicy Bois have continued their efforts of loyalty to providing a new path for remarkable talent. Raising the standards and pushing boundaries of the bass world, they have supplied a home to tracks by artists such as MeSo, ION, just john and much more. Today they return with the release of a new EP by Tokyo based duo Herbalistek titled ‘Polarity.’

Adding a three track EP to their catalog to speak further on the innovation and originality of Herbalistek in a time period where it is inevitable to be compared to another artist, this is sincerely a stand out work of art. Between remixes that represent their interpretation of said tracks such as their ATLiens remix of ‘Exile,’ to their untamed originals like ‘Invalid‘ and ‘Placebo.’ Herbalistek demonstrates their work ethic and proves they won’t be disappearing anytime soon. As each track is prepared, the duo derives intuitive ideas that allow for each product to take on a life of its own. Staying true to this statement, their three track EP has two collabs and one track from the duo their self. Listening through this collage multiple times, it has become more and more prevalent that they have embodied their environment as inspiration and plan to redefine genre labeling.

Between the atmospheric intros and break downs to the chaotic sound design, Polarity projects an impeccable feeling of metamorphosis.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/665801795″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]

The title track ‘Polarity’ presents a faint sonic invasion. Supernatural beings have landed and taken over our planet. The unnatural arrangement contributes to an overall eerie feeling and presents uncanny sound design. Tell me where else you have ever heard anything like this before. Being their solo product of this EP, Herbalistek expands what “forward-thinking” means and exhibit the limits of their avant-garde style.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/637458099″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]

Continuing the metamorphic process, Herbalistek integrate their ideas with like minded artist Veepot on ‘Estrangement.’ The procedure of a biological change is underway for this planet as we once knew it with the operator continuing to ask for a response. This extraterrestrial beings have confiscated our ecosystem in attempt to boost this generation to the next level of evolution. ‘Estrangement’ is patient yet brutish and demands the next phase completes the transformation.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/637458228″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”300″ iframe=”true” /]

In the final steps of renovation, Allen Mock joins the duo with ‘Premonition.’ A countdown like intro feeds into the abyss of the creatures that now roam this so called planet. A new habitat has erupted and caused a shock wave that leaks into an alternate dimension. Revealing a track that contains preternatural vibrations, this combination of artist interaction was only bound to happen after their successful ‘Okami‘ collaboration with Oski. It becomes difficult to separate the feeling of physical existence from fantasy if you just allow yourself to seep into this new era of genre defining bass music. Close your eyes and give multiple listens to truly appreciate the value of this track as well as the rest of the EP.

A recreant of such triumphs, Sydney’s Oski has tactfully aided the trajectory of the label through efforts such as the Kid Chrome and preceding Kid Calamity EP while maintaining the discipline to further diversify his own style with features via Never Say Die and Circus Records. The now QGR-veteran presents the optimal courier to commemorate Tokyo’s preeminent production talent Allen Mock & Herbalistek.

Minute droplets of aqueous synths, like the incessant pattering of water drops on a stone surface, present an unsuspecting introduction to ‘Okami.’ Soft digital fuzz masks the onset of warning sirens as triumphant horns and meticulous drums foreshadow an ill-omened fate. Sudden turbulence of vacillating synths plagues the track with intoxicating energy before a distorted vocal lead unleashes an apocalypse of bass.

A collaboration that truly speaks for itself, ‘Okami’ stands tribute to Quality Good’s mission for authenticity, further elevating the label into a degree of their own. Check out the track below!

A daring proponent of dynamic production and tasteful experimentation, Tokyo-based Allen Mock has expeditiously emerged as one of the most inspiring artists of the modern era. First exploding with an exceptional rendition of tokey’s ‘High Breed.’, while more recently untethered collaborations with The Infamous and Chow Chow have only further fixated an ardent public gaze. Each successive release is evidential of Mock’s creative prowess, straddling deathly magnitudes of energy and demonstrating baffling sound design at even the earliest chapters of his career. Needless to say, Allen Mock is armed and ready for battle.

Peek into the arsenal of unreleased music and get friendly with Allen Mock in the guest mix and interview below!

In what ways has living in Tokyo influenced your path as a producer or shaped your style as an artist?

Living in Tokyo has definitely shaped my style of music in many ways. Tokyo is a huge city, jam-packed full of anime, games, electronic music, and anything and everything entertaining! So as a child, I had access to all kinds of cool and fun things… music being one of them! Living in Tokyo is interesting for me since most of the music I tend to listen to comes from outside of Japan, and given the outside perspective/knowledge, my music became this hybrid mix of different cultures,

As I grew into my 20’s and started to produce/DJ more, I met Tha Boogie Bandit and Herbalistek who inspired the core foundation of Allen Mock Music!

Is the majority of your production talent self-taught, or do you have a formal music background?

Self-taught! BUT, I want to take this time to give a special shoutout to Tha Boogie Bandit (Ronny), he’s taught me so many things I needed to know about production/mixing/mastering to understanding tension/buildup/chord-progressions, etc. He was basically like my sensei at one point and that relationship definitely helped progress in my music production. Outside of that, it’s mostly experimenting/learning new (sound-design) techniques with my close friends Herbalistek.

How does your specific flavor of experimental hybrid trap compare to other popular electronic producers in Japan?

I don’t like to compare myself to other producers around the Japan music scene right now, I think everyone has found a very unique sound and are really bringing their A-Game, Masayoshi Iimori, Maru, Fellsius… to name a few. Some big things coming from Japan in the near future! However, I would like to say a lot of my creations have been inspired by local artists’ tracks that I personally found fresh, and I love to combine different genres/personalities/essence to put together a type of dance music! Since I have specific sounds I like (deep, heavy, bass-ey, metallic, energetic) and specific ways of puzzling my favorite sounds together, it makes a unique style that sounds like “Allen Mock” :)

Your workflow is simply remarkable, releasing tracks at a tasteful rate to keep fans engaged, while not over-flooding the arena with too much content in a short period of time. Did you stock up on releases for a period of time to maintain yourself or have you simply mastered the art of ‘working as you go’?

Thank YOU! I am very grateful that you think that way! I have so much music that I’m sitting on right now, and I cannot wait to show everyone what I have been cooking up this year.

That’s actually a very interesting question since my answer to that would be both. I have a stacked list of music that I am dying to release this year, but at the same time, I’m working on new songs/beats every other day. I try to plan as much as possible but at the moment I’m going with the “flow” while staying relevant with current music.

For me remixing something is also a way of expressing your love for the original music, like an homage.

Which has been your favorite track to remix so far, and what made this one particularly special compared to the rest?

I definitely had the most fun remixing “high breed” since I just LOVE the original tune so much. For me remixing something is also a way of expressing your love for the original music, like an homage. So, with that in mind, of course, I’d have the most fun with this track, since I was literally/constantly listening to this song over and over again!

However, I am currently remixing Flosstradamus x Valentino Khan’s ‘MFU’ at the moment, and I’ll be honest, I’m having a blast. You’ll definitely hear this edit/flip in the near future :)

ALWAYS be respectful! I cannot stress this enough. A lot of aspiring producers make the mistake of focusing on their craft (which is AMAZING!) but not enough people put the effort in having respect for each other.

What tips do you have to share for aspiring producers for growing and expand their network of collaborators?

ALWAYS be respectful! I cannot stress this enough. A lot of aspiring producers make the mistake of focusing on their craft (which is AMAZING!) but not enough people put the effort in having respect for each other. Work hard, be kind and amazing things will happen! Seriously.

There’s a Metal Gear Solid sample contained in a lot of your work. How did this become your signature sound/sample? Is it used in every song? Are you a big Metal Gear fan?

That’s really dope of you guys to notice my samples! The MSG sample represents my love for gaming; at one point in my life I used to play too much of everything basically.. (LoL, WoW, Halo, MGS, Smash Brothers… etc) and this MSG is my way of paying tribute/homage to the gaming community and the creators that make such awesome games! I’d say I’m not particularly a gamer now, since making music has become that “addiction” for me…but I’d love to go back one day and re-visit all the cool games I’ve been missing out on!

I approached this mix like a book; each song is a chapter in my story. I put extra emphasis on the transitions and tension-building and gave extra attention to small breaks to get the “feel” of listening to my sets live.

What have you got in store for us with this guest mix?

This will be my first ever guest mix as “Allen Mock”. So I decided to put together a mix where it’s not just bangers and quick transitions, but more story-telling and showcasing my new music. I approached this mix like a book; each song is a chapter in my story. I put extra emphasis on the transitions and tension-building and gave extra attention to small breaks to get the “feel” of listening to my sets live. I might sound like a broken record telling you about how much effort I put into this mix, but I really did — and I could not have asked for a better place to reveal my work than with you guys at FUXWITHIT!

I’d say a good 85-90% of this mix will consist of my music (released, unreleased, remixes, collabs, etc) so this mix will be a great thing to listen to if you’re curious about my current/future music! :)
