Jon Casey season is upon us and it’s scorching hot. With his upcoming album Harsh Reality out this Friday, Jon has been setting July ablaze with the first few singles ‘B.T.T.,’ ‘Nosedive’ and ‘Greatest.’ Ahead of the full project, you know we had to bless fans with a special premiere here on FUXWITHIT to take the hype to the maximum. Today we have the distinct honour of presenting the massive AVANCE collaboration that is ‘POUNDS.’

The incredible collab pairs classic trap sensibilities with an underlying forward-thinking bass approach to create an absolute banger. The energy from the outset is menacing. As Jon adds in an alluring melody and bent vocals it begins to truly take shape. The first drop is a mean-mug-inducing dose of bass and trap that’ll have hitting replay. Militant snare work in the break builds the excitement before they smooth things out. Just when you’re comfortable, things ratchet up before bottoming out with an absolutely cavernous drop that’ll rattle your sense of existence. Jon Casey and AVANCE don’t miss and ‘POUNDS’ is another impeccable attestation to the fact.

‘POUNDS’ started with me messing with one of my own vocal chops. Something I hadn’t really done often up until that point. I heard a rhythm and just ran with it. I posted a clip on my insta stories and AVANCE loved it and asked if he could throw some of his spice in there and so I sent it to him and he created a perfect second drop. This track is, as Chee put it so eloquently, “super buttery” and I loved that description and wanted to keep it like that. – Jon Casey

Stream ‘POUNDS’ below and look out for Harsh Reality this Friday on DOMEOFDOOM.

Spiraling towards the center of the Earth, Bassrush return with their latest installment of a series which puts only the nastiest up and coming bass musicians on a pedestal. They call it, The Prophecy: Volume 4. And with great success and attention to their other chapters, the label continues to impress and amaze the audience with mind-bending new musicians to take the spotlight. From hard-hitting arrangements, to jaw-dropping sound design, these artists are not to be messed with within the spectrum.

Musicians such as TWERL, Cyclops, Slang Dogs and more have all created individual works of art to honor the label itself as well as their own talents. It’s to no surprise that we’d see such high-thinking souls on this lineup. They’ve pushed the underground bass scene to its highest stature. Exposing many to the true future of electronic music. So prepare to have your heart stopped and brought back to life with this gorgeous new ten-track adventure.

The Prophecy: Volume 4 honors the past, present, and overall future of the label and its artists. Each track is its own spirit and lifeline. The amount of filth and talent oozing from these legends is truly impressive and unthinkable. Insidious atmospheres, exhilarating bass leads, you name it. This whole compilation is chocked full of disgusting gems to admire and cherish for a lifetime. Letting everyone know who’s on the true come up. From a trap masterpiece from TWERL and Avance, to a classic Riddim heater from Cromatik and Cyclops, you won’t even know what’s next due to their unique skills and surprises. Each track has its own story to tell in a violent fashion. Perfect for any bass head ready for those brand new and intellectual tracks. The Bassrush label did a fantastic job recruiting these beautiful artists. They all deserve high praise for their hard work. Delineating one of his earliest releases, AVANCE’s twist on Mura Masa’s ‘Lotus Eater’ is a textural masterpiece and fires on all cylinders of passion that fringe the line between trap and future bass. Utilizing the poignancy of nostalgia as an opener and conclusion to the track, AVANCE wastes not a moment working to amplify the subtle oriental flare from the original, while weaving in his own palatable depth all the while.

A diverse figment of music production, Dan Dixon has been steadily gaining composure over the course of a 5-year audible conquest producing and performing under the guise AVANCE. While the concept of being confined to a single genre can be a crippling mentality for some artists, Dixon has in-turn leveraged a propensity for a variety of styles as a primary catalyst in his work, utilizing his equally-weighted craft as a cunning advantage in his ever-burgeoning list of solo and collaborative efforts.

Following the release of his Destroy All Humans EP last April, AVANCE returns to Bassweight Records with a vengeance for unfinished business and an insatiable thirst for dubstep. The Odious probes further within Dixon’s production acumen, unmasking sonic brutality that takes shape over the course of the project, which features three solo endeavors as well as a merciless collaboration with K-NINE.

Outfitted for auditory warfare, AVANCE’s latest is not for the faint-hearted or soft-stomached. Be sure to check out The Odious EP in full below!

Now known to nearly every enthusiast of trap and bass music worldwide, AVANCE is a dynamic production force thundering from the land down under. Possessing a nimble ear, AVANCE can just as easily fit within free-flowing creative structures, such as his collaboration ‘Bad Robot’ with Zeke Beats, as he can pack a massive volume of bass, as demonstrated in his debut Bassweight Records EP, Destroy All Humans, last April.

While the last few months have been unusually quiet for the talented Australian producer, he assures us the necessary break has only allowed himself to dig deeper into his creative desires to further shape the future of the AVANCE brand.

“I felt that I started to get lost with myself creatively and mentally, always making rash decisions with what I was producing and how I wanted to reflect towards others. I decided to take some time off and figure things out, I now feel I have truly found myself,” he shares in anticipation of the branding and stylistic changes that have resulted from the necessary self-seclusion.

Although tracks such as ‘Death Ray’ thoroughly depict AVANCE’s ability to navigate an aggressive style with ease, this new direction for the project will dive headfirst into darker, bass-clad soundscapes, which will be personified with an aptly fitting ominous digital characterization.

“The entity behind me I call Odious, he is an illustration that I use as representation and reminder that I will always be myself and always have the authenticity in my sound that people have grown to know over the years. He channels any negativity I may have into the darker, more aggressive music you might hear from me…you’ll see him from time to time,” AVANCE reflects regarding the visual prong of his next chapter.

Appropriately weaponized to reveal his new vision ‘Lazer Riddim’ is the perfect prelude to build anticipation for what is just on the horizon, check out AVANCE’s latest with Helios below!

Perched atop a throne of unreleased music, an unfaltering eruption of music since the turn of the year has allowed Sydney’s AVANCE to quickly seize and captivate the attention of his audience, littering the battlefield of 2019 with lethal self-released artillery such as ‘OVERTHROWN’ and ‘DEATH RAY’ as well as an aberrated experimental collaboration alongside fellow Aussie-native ZEKE BEATS.

Following nearly 3 years of meticulous planning and diligent rehearsal, AVANCE is at long last equipped for battle, barking out final commands to his troops as he prepares to lay siege with his latest EP via Bassweight Records, Destroy All Humans.

Revealing the calamitous fringe of his production capabilities, the EP adopts a ruthless demeanor, leveraging inconspicuous suppressed melodies as the introduction to the title track for the project and ‘DEMON’, luring unsuspecting listeners into a captivating trance before unleashing a sudden lethal onslaught of bass.

Kei Leeza mobilizes the survivors, purling a commanding vocal cadence laid crisply over effervescent spews of bass in ‘CHAOS‘. The rhythmic pounding of hostile war drums echoes hauntingly in the distance, rallying every ounce of morale AVANCE & P0gman muster one final stand launching into an unceasing final reprisal of bass-clad vengeance.

Armed to the teeth, Destroy All Humans further exemplifies the range and dexterity of AVANCE’s style, unveiling baleful collaborative efforts with P0gman & High Zombie as well as three standalone singles for a gauntlet of bass that will have you limping for a week.

Avance was introduced into the realm of electronic music at the ripe age of 12 where he dove into digital production. Originally born in London, he has made considerable waves in his new home of Perth, where he’s honed his craft considerably in recent years. Coming fresh off the release of his collaboration ‘Bad Robot’ with fellow Aussie Zeke Beats, he’s struck a resounding chord with fans of heavy and experimental bass, leaving listeners anxiously waiting to see how his sound has evolved. His response is the grimy, harsh, hard-hitting ‘Death Ray’.

This piece of audible weaponry opens with an ominous, creepy synth that brings in a punching bassline, with a military voice in the background setting the tone. Right before the first drop is the sample “activate all disintegrators,” which gives the listener a stern warning to strap in for this wild ride as they are about to get slapped in the face. Avance makes fantastic use of slight pausing between punchy low-ends, making each one hit harder than they would if aligned all in a row. This comes to an apex at the 2nd drop, which fully transforms the sound into what I can only describe as an elephant roaring while shooting laser cannons strapped to its back. ‘Death Ray’ will be an absolute behemoth on monster sound systems. With several quality releases so far in 2019 and currently on his own “Destroy All Humans” tour in Australia and New Zealand, this could be a momentous year for growth for this extremely talented artist.

Check out ‘Death Ray’ for yourself below!

Living unafflicted by the coercion to adhere to conventional styles, Australian-native ZEKE BEATS leverages his eccentricity as a staple facet of his individuality, dwelling calmly in the shadows as he plots an inevitable demise of the freeform realms.

A talented mixmaster with an affinity for scratching out sensational treatments in the studio and live arena, Bad Robot further divulges Zeke’s robust analog flavor as depicted throughout his career, smoothing out the experimental edges of the style and settling further into the enigmatic fabric of nonconformity.

The project comprises two solo expeditions, ‘Mammoth’ and ‘Fire Tonight’, which vividly portray an intergalactic exploration of the darkest caverns of freeform sound, combining fibrous sequences of mesmerizing synths with tightly-wound, ornately lain percussion. The third prong of this experimental weaponry takes the shape of a collaboration birthed on the homefront, as Zeke and fellow Aussie AVANCE combine efforts for the title track of the EP, ‘Bad Robot’.

Each sequence within the EP flows endlessly as one majestic strand of freeform delicacy, providing not a single moment of reprise, Bad Robot is an exemplification of the proficiency and creative genius of ZEKE BEATS.

One of many remarkable talents to settle into the Australia electronic music movement, Dan Dixon, more notoriously recognized by his audio profile AVANCE, has laid the preliminary groundwork for a breakaway career with releases through veteran labels such as Never Say Die: Black Label, Quality Goods Records and TWONK since he first poked his face onto the scene nearly 4 years ago.

While my initial attention was drawn in the infancy of the project with a slapping remix of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Maad City’ and a brilliant interpretation of ‘Lotus Eater’ by Mura Masa, Dixon’s ability to expand on his earlier releases, further refining his sound to develop a signature vibe is what really distinguishes his style from the masses.

Demonstrated in more recent releases such as ‘Sinister’ and ‘Revenge’, the range AVANCE possesses allows him to fluctuate effortlessly between a riveting, production-heavy trap style and bass-clad collaborations, utilizing hip-hop vocals as a way to weave his personal influence into each track.

Hot off the press, AVANCE’s latest ‘OVERTHROWN’ voyages deep into uncharted waters with massive walls of reverberating bass and tightly-wound production, while veteran beat breaks and innovative fills give the track a sensational cadence.

We had the chance to link with Dixon briefly to discuss his latest release as well as the abundance of talent Australia. Be sure to check out ‘OVERTHROWN’ as you read through the interview below, and make sure to grab the free download of the tune here.

—-

Residing in Perth, a lot of talented trap producers live right in your backyard. How has this influenced your path as an artist as well as your sound, more specifically?

I actually just made the jump to Sydney, but living in Perth there is huge bass community more than Trap itself and this benefited me by introducing heavy bass sounds into my production, let’s see what Sydney does to me.

The bass and trap music scene is as fertile as ever, who are some exciting names local to Australia that have caught your attention?

There is so much creativity and talent coming out of Australia and I am proud to be a part of the scene. I could name many artists that stand out to me but Leotrix, Heimanu, Loca, Calibr & Silva are just some of the artists I am excited to see flourish this year.

A number of your songs utilize rap samples or present a new take on currently trending hip-hop tracks. Can you share a bit about your background with hip-hop and how the genre has helped shape your own production style?

I grew up with hip hop music, it was the very first genre of music I produced. Going on to learn as many genres as possible and now have my own crafted sound which I cannot even describe, but I will always have my hip hop roots. I also produce hip hop instrumentals under my newly created alias RoseFall.

In what ways is ‘Overthrown’ diverse from your previous releases and in what ways does it preserve your trademark style?

I generally like to create all new sounds when I start a track so that the releases are always as fresh as possible, but I decided with this track to throw in many sounds from previous releases for a bit of fun, Overthrown is very much making a statement in many ways. This track holds strongly to my trademark 110bpm style I created early 2017.

Imagine an ice cream parlor hits your line and wants to have ‘Overthrown’ as a flavor served in their shop. What type of scoop are we lookin’ at here?

You’d be getting a nice big scoop of bitterness.

You tweeted earlier this Fall teasing, not one, but TWO EPs that you were sitting on awaiting a release date. Any news to share on when we might expect to hear these release?

I am sitting now on over 30 unreleased singles, collaborations and remixes. I have no exact release dates as I am in no rush but you will see lots from me this year.

From your social media, it looks like you remain pretty active in the local Australia scene attending a number of shows and festivals even beyond the ones you are booked at. What is the best live set you’ve witnessed to-date, and what about it made it so special?

I always like to go support my artist friends and of course I enjoy music events overall, my personal favorite live performance to date was actually not a DJ but a rapper, Denzel Curry performed at Origin Fields 2018 and stole the show with his incredibly energetic performance and eye-catching visuals, he then went on to perform a tribute to XXXTENTACION which put the cherry on top for me.

Australia’s Hydraulix is one of the best in the game. His unique blend of trap and bass music never stagnates, with each project exploring new bounds and his latest is no different. The 4 song Kingdom EP has Hydraulix eyeing the crown of the bass realm. When we spoke with Hydrualix a few months back, he mentioned his upcoming EP was very suited to Quality Goods. Just looking at the tracklist it’s quite clear why (UZ, Ian Munro, Oski & Avance are all present).

Kicking things off comes ‘Roll Out’ with Avance. Snapping 808s and alarm sounds set the tone for a trap slapper that’s sure to leave your face twisted and your trap arms in full effect. Switching the style up comes ‘Angels’ a ray of sunshine in the dark and dirty soundscape that is Kingdom. Tezatalks’ vocals lead this up while Hydraulix creates a backdrop that feels like a coastal summer day trip. Despite taking a lighter, future bass direction, Hydraulix is able to add in just the right amount of gritty swag with the smoother elements.

‘Stress’ is a show-stealer that’s been years in making. Working alongside close friends Oski & Ian Munro the chemistry is on full display. An ominous introduction falls into drops that’ll bowl you over while leaving you discombobulated. It’s a 1,2 punch to your brain and body that you won’t soon forget. Just when you think it can’t get any wilder, they come through with final drop that’s pure insanity.

Capping thing off comes ‘Ransom’ with QGR boss and trap king UZ. It’sexactly what you’d hope to hear from these two; a menacing bass banger with a touch of middle eastern influence. It sounds just as the collab should, with a few cheeky surprises to prick those ears up.

Kingdom is the perfect follow-up to Madness & Trippin’, allowing Hydrualix to prove his consistency by going 3 for 3 in less than a year. While he may be too polite to outright snatch the crown, Hydraulix has proven he’s definitely in line for the throne and with each release his claim gets stronger. Stream Kingdom below and grab it via Quality Goods Records. For more on Hydraulix be sure to peep our in-depth video interview with below.
