Strap in your seatbelts, because this one is quite a ride. Heavy-hitter Buku blessed us with his newest single, ‘I Don’t Think So’ via Wakaan. The artist has been killing it this year with releases. From his Modular Monday Mixtape, to his newest EP, What You See, he’s taking no prisoners and is only pushing for more success. His broad range of sound design and atmospheres will hypnotize any listener. Bringing them into his own world.

In the Halloween spirit, ‘I Don’t Think So’ is a perfect way to kick off the spooky holiday. It has everything an electronic music fan will adore. Introducing himself, Buku incorporates an ominous and intoxicating space in the beginning. Unique textures and melodies will be floating around your head, getting us ready for what’s to come. Once the main vocal sample drops, he shoots out a blast of rhythm and funk. The drop has a classic dubstep feel to it. The drums and arrangement come together in a fit and organic fashion. This will definitely have you on your feet dancing the night away.

‘I Don’t Think So’ is another classic from the artist himself. Hearing the passion and love he put in to create this piece is recognized in every sense. From beginning to end, you won’t regret experiencing his newest journey. Make sure to support Buku by streaming the single below.

Pittsburg based musician Buku just dropped his new EP What You See on Wakaan. If you haven’t heard his music in the past, we suggest checking it out. This bass music enthusiast continues to impress with his hard-hitting sound design and futuristic atmospheres. From releasing on Never Say Die, NEST HQ, Spinnin’ Records and more, he’s made quite a name for himself. Collaborating with big names such as G Jones, Willy Joy and Tropkillaz has given him a good push within the industry as well as in his own music. Buku always knows how to keep his audience invested and one with his art, and his newest EP is proof.

The What You See EP is a beautiful and unique experience. Each track incorporating memorable melodies and sound design. The first piece we hear is called ‘What You See.’ The arp friendly arrangement in the beginning is breathtaking and spaced out nicely. Giving room for what’s to come. We even hear a powerful vocal singing the title of the track. Coming from Buku himself! Once the chorus kicks in, it’ll leave you speechless. The distorted lead bass is straight up nasty. A fantastic opening track, giving us a taste of what we can expect for the rest of the project.

Next up is ‘Uh Hu.’ Keeping the familiar vibe and aspect as the first song, Buku switches it up with different melodies and rhythms. Making the journey fresh and new for any listener. The drop in this one is a force to be reckoned with. The dangerous lead bass knocks you back into a new dimension. Blending together in unison with his drums and atmosphere. Nothing but pretty vibes and a heavy outcome.

Finally, Buku takes a bow with his song, ‘Pinky Fingaz.’ The lush and soft introduction creates a hypnotic and sophisticated feeling. And incorporating a catchy vocal was a great move to keep the song moving and memorable. There’s a surprise lurking every corner within this song. A wonderful way to close off the whole project. It’ll leave you wanting more.

If you love old and new school sounding bass music, this project is right up your alley. Buku has done a wonderful job in showing everyone what he’s made of. His passion for electronic music is shown throughout every song. Each carrying their own special characteristics. We’re excited to see and hear what he brings next. Make sure to support the artist by streaming the EP on Spotify, SoundCloud and more.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Robert Balotsky, also known by his Buku alias, has been a longtime slinger of sultry sonic delicacies, satiating even the most enormous and picky of appetites across the country. Crafting his own unique blend of luscious bassy bumps like ‘Front to Back‘, ‘To Ya Brain‘, and just a few weeks ago ‘Bounce By The Ounce,‘ he’s garnered immense amounts of respect and fandom throughout the entire industry. Now, his latest release ‘What You See’, out on Liquid Stranger‘s Wakaan, really opens your eyes to what he’s truly capable of.

A satisfying hallucinatory melody is the first thing you’ll be graced with upon entering into the clutches of ‘What You See.’ A vocal sample of the title acts as an audible metronome, mentally dominating listeners into unconscious submission. Much like the come-up of a psychedelic experience, the build ramps things up before you’re balls-deep in the hectic frequencies. With the drop being a tidal wave of thickness, each note is extended, creating this drawn-out grimy feeling that hits oh-so-nicely. With this much style and ample layering, headphones are assuredly being pushed to maximum capabilities. Buku has once again shown that he can handcraft some of the most unique and heavy bass productions in the game, and ‘What You See’ is just another bullet to add to his already impressive arsenal. Check it out for yourself below and grab the free download.

Amidst festival season, Buku‘s latest tune is a perfectly-timed banger, which is set to go off at all of his upcoming tour stops this summer. ‘YEAHBOi!’ shows off the artist’s signature growling bass, as well as where his mind’s been going, in a way that he hasn’t allowed himself to explore before.

As the title would go on to suggest, the tune cries out “Yeah boi!” (or simply, “yeah”) for a good portion of its duration- both in a hyper, high-pitched manner around the face-melting drops, and in a slow, chill, and content manner otherwise. Buku himself says that the song “came from a place of unrestrained creativity“. This led him to create something that doesn’t feel like it fits into any particular mould, and unleashes itself in such a carefree, energy-raising manner. “After having the chance to test it over the last few months, I feel as though I’ve dialed in something that engages a freedom of inhibitions.”
It’s not quite what you’d expect, given the light and anticipatory opening that precedes it. He’s played this in a few of his sets at recent shows and festivals, so there’s a chance this would be a familiar tune to you. Good news is that it’s available for download – grab a copy and let loose to the madness!
