Since the Weeknd dropped ‘Often’, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the remixes that would follow. When I saw that one of my favorite producers Andrew Luce would be putting his own spin on the track, I knew it would be an instant favourite. Andrew keeps the opening fairly true to the original letting the Weekend’s seductive vocals set the stage. It’s nearly midway through before we get hit with the drop, made up of chopped and bent vocals akin to his ‘Birthday Sex’ remix. He even sprinkles in some rap samples (what up Yeezy and Weezy). The track mellows as the Weeknd’s vocals come back around before building into a synth heavy drop to close things out. How frequently will you bumping this one? My guess is ‘Often’. Promnite & Falcons – Riddim #1 – Free Download

When I caught word that Promnite and Falcons would be hooking up for a collab I was pumped. I ran through my mind what the two producers might cook up and I have to say the result wasn’t what I was expecting (a pleasant surprise). Taking a break from making more mellow material ‘Riddim #1′ comes through with some serious bump. Flipping Busta Rhymes’ club classic ‘Light Your Ass on Fire’. The track perfectly utilizes both Busta’s rapid fire raps and Pharell’s sexy hook. Added is an absolutely crazy flipped beat with heavy bass and wild samples throughout. Needless to say this track is straight fire. The song is labelled #1 which indicates the duo will have more to come, and based on this effort they can’t drop them soon enough. We got a fresh track from up-and-coming Dallas, TX rapper T-Shawn. ‘So High’ features smooth production from GritsNGravy with an infectious hook that’ll be playing in your head all day. The track showcases T-Shawn’s dope flow and delivery. The artist describes the track as being “not about drugs, but more or less being high off life/chasing your dreams, and self worth.” The trippy visuals and mentions of blunt passin’ make me wonder if perhaps it is about a little bit of both. The Best Dancers – Afterglow EP

When I first saw an email from the The Best Dancers in our inbox, I thought it was dance crew hoping to get featured on our Blog. Which would be odd, because we’re not into featuring dance crews on FUXWITHIT. Luckily my first impression was incorrect. It turns out The Best Dancers are actually a dope electro-funk/glitch-hop duo hailing from Portland, OR. After one listen to their new Afterglow EP I was a fan. The project gets started with ‘Ready Now’ a perfect opening track with a slow and enticing build made up of distorted vocals and wild synths. Next up is ‘O Brother (Where Arp Thou)’ a beautiful smooth and summery track with chopped up computerize vocals reminiscent of Daft Punk. ‘Brown Eyes’ packs the most soul and is a definite standout embodying their sexy future-funk feel perfectly. The project closes out with ‘Don’t Save Me (Feat. Up Until Now)’ and ‘Afterglow’. All in all this a great body of work that can be played from front to back. The upbeat futuristic vibe makes Afterglow perfect for bumping while chilling out with friends, taking a drive or getting work done. #tbt – Tracks You May Have Missed – Huglife (Dj Slink) – So Fly

It’s Thursday and this week we’re taking it back to 2012 for a certified Trap classic. The song is ‘So Fly’ by Huglife (Dj Slink at the time). I wasn’t aware that he had changed his name and lost sight of the talented producer for quite some time. For a detailed breakdown of the name change check out the interview he did with The Dankles. Basically after much confusion, issues and bs with Dj Sliink he had to “start over”. Anyways back to ‘So Fly’. This was easily one of the biggest trap tunes of 2012. Getting a ton of play from every DJ within the trap genre. I personally have to say this was one of the earliest trap tunes I encountered and made me an instant fan of the genre. This was one of the my anthems for summer 2012 and I figured with this summer just around the corner I’d share it with you (in case you missed it). Enjoy the stream below and cop that free download and burn it onto a CD like I did back in 2012. Or just throw it on your phone, it is 2014 after all.

Omito – Glory EP

Omito is a 17 year old producer from Canada fusing hip-hop beats with future, R&B and more. His latest release, a 12 track beat tape entitled Glory, is a piece of music that will blow you away from the first listen. Opening with the title track, ‘Glory’ starts out with a cinematic feel that slowly builds into an uplifting laid back vibe. This sets the tone for the entire project and leads perfectly into ‘Fly Away’, which is likely the best track on the EP. A final standout track is ‘How U Dion’ combining affectionate pitched vocals and a buttery smooth beat as the backdrop. From front to back, Omito creates a serene soundscape that will transport you to a world of relaxation. This EP made me a fan very quickly and we will definitely be keeping a close eye on this killer young beat maker. Stream Glory below and cop the free download here.

Canadian producer Grandtheft has come through with a bootleg of Drake’s ‘0 to 100’ real quick. The original has been out for less than a week and Grandtheft has already put his own touch on it. The producer drops some scratches and adds some serious aggression and bass turning it into a 100 bpm trap banger. Look for this to be getting a ton of love from DJs moving forward. TWRK (Benzi & eSenTRIK) have been murdering the game since they first linked up early last year. Their latest effort is a remix of Low Pros – Muscle feat. Juvenile and it’s even better than the original (which is pretty stellar in it’s own right). Taking vocal samples and elements from the original, TWRK turn the bass way up. The first drop is straight bonkers and will make you want to “go and shake that ass”. They give you give some time to recover by scaling it back a notch and bring in more vocals, only to slap you once again. This track is the definition of bangin’ and it’s also a free download! UK based Bass producer Troyboi just dropped an absolutely ridiculous and original new song entitled ‘Don’t Be Judging (MJ Edition)’. The song starts off with a short ominous intro, before hitting your speakers with a crazy mind bending drop. It features Michael Jackson samples throughout and has a wild build in the middle which leads to a monstrous drop. This kid has been killing the remix games for past few months and he demonstrates why on his newest a track, a remix of Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz – Get Low. He takes the club classic and electrifies it, taking it to new heights and depths (them drops are low). The lyrics off the original provide the perfect foundation for Luce to craft an absolutely insane new beat with drops that’ll blow your mind. The way he chops the vocals on the final drop is absurd.
