Drek Martinez Resurfaces as Julian with Major Lazer Remix

Last year I stumbled across an incredible New York based producer by the name of Drek Martinez. His debut original, ‘No Love Lost’ made me an instant fan and releases like ‘Muse’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘6th Gear’ proved his consistency. I predicted a huge year for the up-and-coming artist but his SoundCloud fell silent for all of 2015. After spending a good portion of the year in LA working on other projects, he has finally returned under a new name and with new material. Producing under his real name, Julian, comes a moving rework of Major Lazer’s ‘Be Together’. The builds are captivating, the drops are breathtaking and the soundscape is stunning. It’s a strong return for ~~Drek~~ Julian and we look forward to hearing more. Stream and free download below.

PREMIERE: Galantis – Runaway (U&I) [Drekmartinez Remix]

People really need to stop sleeping on Drek Martinez. The NY based producer is responsible for some of the best tracks of the year including ‘No Love Lost’, ‘Muse’ and a stunning remix of ‘6th Gear’. Despite the phenomenal material he’s still managed to remain under the radar (though I predict not for long). Today we are pleased to premiere his latest work, a remix of Galantis ‘Runaway (U&I)’. The rework adds a deep level of emotion and creativity. A beautiful build with the vocals from the original sets the stage. As Drek brings in the drums and synths things start to heat up. A gun click let’s you know it’s about to pop off and the inventive hard hitting drop is sure to excite bass heads. The track carries from there with phenomenal instrumentation and perfect vocals bends that are truly moving. Listen to the remix below and be sure to grab the free download.

Drek Martinez – Winter is coming…

Winter is coming…With Fall in full effect and Summer beginning to feel like a distant memory, Drek Martinez decided to drop a new track to capture the feel. Things get started with an atmospheric sound that builds into a short, heavy drum drop before continuing to evolve. With a wide array of unorthodox samples (is that a meager dog bark?) and amazing soundscapes, Drek creates a feel that is unique but relatable. The song drifts between hard hitting and sheer beauty much like the upcoming season itself. If you like original bass filled tracks you’re going to love this. Don’t forget to check out Drek’s earlier work ‘Dear Missy’, ‘Muse’ and my personal favorite ‘No Love Lost’.

Drek Martinez – Muse

Last week we posted a phenomenal track from an under the radar producer by the name of Drek Martinez. Today he hit us up with a new release entitled ‘Muse’. The track starts out mellow, with some soulful vocal samples and claps and masterfully builds from there. It’s almost a minute in before we get hit with heavy horns and some nice drum work, taking the track up more than a few notches. Overall this is a fresh sounding chill tune that still packs a punch. With back-to-back impressive releases from Drek, we’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on him this year and we suggest you do to. Drek Martinez – No Love Lost – Free Download

I just came across an amazing new track from a producer I’ve never heard of! His name is Drek Martinez and the song is called ‘No LOve LOst’. The track takes you on a musical journey filled with exuberant vocals, stunning builds and low unconventional drops. The songs is catchy, odd and breathtaking all at once. This is only Drek’s second full length release (check out his Revolution remix) but it is seriously impressive. I will be anxiously anticipating future releases from this talented up and comer.
