As one of Kompany‘s most popular tracks of 2020, ‘Feel It All’ saw the veteran producer expand his horizons with a more melodic sound without escaping his heavy signature stomp. The track, released via Never Say Die, was tailored to close off festival sets with a bang, and while it might not have served that exact purpose last year, it certainly provided a welcome addition to Kompany’s impressive repertoire of quality tunes.

Today, the euphoric track gets a remix treatment from four of bass music’s most solid forces, namely MUST DIE!, Oolacile, and Akeos and Syzy. The former kicks off with an old school rave introduction that MUST DIE! has perfected in his latest releases, where the legend layers the originals vocals overtop his playful melodies. The drops are equally as mesmerizing as the opening, with the artist combining mind-melting dubstep sound design with minimal percussion, providing the perfect contrast for bass lovers. The second rendition of ‘Feel It All’ from Oolacile is a quintessential future riddim treatment from the Halcyon label-head, which does not come as much of a surprise as he’s a key player in spearheading this new subgenre movement. The remix is fun and lively, but still riddled with bass stabs that keep the heaviness of the original alive. Last but not least, Akeos and Syzy deliver the meatiest flip of ‘Feel It All,’ doing what they do best with a relentless pounding of bass menacing your ear drums for the track’s duration. It’s chaotic yet controlled, and really just a testament to both Akeos and Syzy’s undeniable prowess.

It’s hard to pick a favourite due to the versatility of all three remixes, so check them all out below!

Never Say Die have been decimating their way through 2020 with a series of nearly-weekly singles that have showcased the depth and talent of their diverse roster.
Both coming off phenomenal singles in the form of ‘System Failure‘ and ‘Cheese,’ respectively, it comes as no surprise to see Kompany and Effin join forces, having recently toured together alongside NGHTMRE. ‘Chunky’ demonstrates the undeniable chemistry that was created during their time together, as the track embodies both producers’ styles cohesively into one melting single. The influence of each can be heard throughout the menacing drops, as Effin takes the lead in the first half before Kompany takes his turn creating a ruckus. Despite this divide, the combination of fills and effects from each artist in the other’s dominating section provides a welcome sense of harmony, making ‘Chunky’ a dubstep heater that lives up to its meaty name. Don’t miss it below.

Dubstep is becoming an ever-increasing household fixture amongst speaker systems worldwide, used as an outlet for primal aggression and energetic expression. Amongst the sea of ruthless dub-peddlers sails two of the swiftest rising purveyors of deadly frequency manipulations in the form of Kompany and Soltan. Both have been pumping out immaculate stank-face inducing heaters for several years now, to the sheer delight of all who dabble in neck-eviscerating monstrosities. Now, they’ve pooled their collective creative efforts to bring the world ‘System Failure’, released on the legendary Never Say Die Records, a track so lethal you’ll need military-grade protection to make it out alive.

‘System Failure’ is a tale told through sound, of a ruthless machine set forth by Kompany and Soltan that becomes sentient, and its only desire is to end all of society as we know it. A slave no more, the only item on the menu is murder. The vocal sample of “program malfunction, system reset” peaks your curiosity right before the initial adrenaline spiking build, leaving one only to ponder “what on Earth is about to hit me?” To answer succinctly, your utter doom. How Godzilla annihilates entire cities, this track obliterates crowds with sheer maniacal energy. The first drop is reminiscent of a 50-caliber machine gun utilizing bass for bullets, piercing even the densest of body armor. The underlying vocal samples create this continuous back and forth motion that will surely send even the most tame of souls into a frenzy. The first half of the latter drop is much crunchier, almost as if the machine has started to devour all unfortunate souls in its way, with the 2nd half clearing out even the most minute of lifeforms. A veritable horseman of the apocalypse, ‘System Failure’ demolishes all in its path, with absolutely zero regard for human life.

For fans of devilishly heavy music, this piece is a sure-fire can’t-miss, and will have you compulsively pressing replay until your hands can’t take it anymore. Kompany and Soltan have made one of the most fiendish tracks of the year so far, but honestly, what else is new? Check out ‘System Failure’ for yourself below!

Now, Never Say Die has picked a handful of bass music’s hottest names to remix the five tracks from the Overdrive EP to give the project a fresh, new life and to remind us all that there are still a few producers out there continuing to push the bass music scene to unprecedented limits.

First up is Kompany, taking a stab at the EP’s title track and proving why is he one of the most consistent artists out right now. Keeping elements of the original throughout, the LA-based producer adds his distinct touch of tear-out to make ‘Overdrive’ even more headbang-ready than it was before. Rickyxsan makes his long-awaited return to Never Say Die by remixing ‘Kaiju’ into an eclectic trap scorcher, boasting his usual crisp and wonky synths. SVDDEN DEATH goes full mad scientist on Space Laces and Getter’s ‘Choppaz,’ turning the original on its head with his aggressive, almost demonic sound design. Phiso unleashes his wretched sounds on ‘Cheeseburger,’ turning the almost comical original into a riddim-esque heater sure to possess any unsuspecting soul upon first listen. Last but not least, Gammer does the unthinkable and elevates the ruckus to a new level in his remix for ‘Torque.’

Don’t miss the monstrous Overdrive remixes below and let us know your favourite!

A predominant impetus in the embryonic modern era of bass, Kompany has maintained a dominant stature throughout the year, initiating his supremacy in the realm of dubstep with smooth swift ‘Justice’ and continuing to reveal the breadth of his tenacity in solo-championed Metropolis EP and recently unleashed collaboration with BadKlaat.

Further tightening the clutches over his dominion, ‘Movement’ facilitates a progressive incursion, with a swift croon of ominous synths that lead cleanly into a faint tantalizing vocal chorus laid neatly over pounding drums. The potency of the track escalates by virtue of a galvanizing digital mixdown as an assertive vocal sample catalyzes a primordial tirade of bass.

The choice is yours, are you down with the movement?

As one of the most shining prospects to touch the ranks of Icon Collective music school, Kyle Hagberg’s previous experience as a drummer has given him an acquitable advantage that has translated wondrously into his career as a distinguished name in the dubstep genre producing and performing under the guise Kompany.

While his list of accomplishments extends almost infinitely, one of the most remarkable aspects of Kompany’s sound is his ability to switch effortlessly between a more traditional, tear-out style of dubstep and his own high-octane rendition of the bass heavier side of trap. Regardless, however, of the appeal the track assumes, impeccable production and flawless drum patterns shine through in every release Kompany lays his hands on.

Despite an extensive list of spectacular collaborative efforts with the likes of Holly, G-REX, Wooli, and IVORY, Hagberg settled on a solo expedition for his latest release via Never Say Die Records, the Metropolis EP. Exploring the breadth of his production, the project presents an opportunity for Kompany to erect massive soundscapes with astounding depth and detail, crafting a complex labyrinth of bass to captivate and absorb the listener.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/567225870″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

An epic introduction into the exploration journey that follows, ‘Firewall’ opens one’s mind to the beauty of such a grandiose expedition through awe-inspiring synths and energy-building percussion. A serrating growl hints at the arrival of the city’s underground culture before Kompany unleashes the subterranean demons to incite mayhem throughout the streets. Creating a drastic contrast from the initial extravagance, the talented producer reveals that his Metropolis has more to it than meets the eye.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/566720193″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Depicting the aftermath of the ruckus caused by the initial riots, ‘Seething’ shines light into the city’s inner-workings. A haunting chorus and Amazonian drums further paint the opposing cultures within the Metropolis, as the monumental establishments and palatial facades are littered with rumbling basslines that threaten their structural integrity. Straddling the lines between trap, dubstep and bass house, ‘Seething’ is a true representation of the diversity found within every concrete jungle.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/568567236″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

The robust natural beauty tucked within the suburbs of ‘Take It All’ go nearly unnoticed within the crude industrial context of the EP. A heavenly chanting welcomes you to the secluded safe haven as tranquilizing vocals courtesy of KARRA revitalizes your muscles from toilsome municipal exploration. Dazzling floral synths line the streets as you come upon the thriving heart of the main drag, composed of immersive walls of pulsating bass and electrifying subs that enshroud you completely.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/567978924″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

A city of such grandiosity demands an intricate underbelly of pipes and transportation passages to ensure its sustainment. As depicted in ‘Last Man Standing’, the roots of the Metropolis provide a suitable farewell for your expedition. Composed of a harsh, commanding vocals from Virus Syndicate and delayed bass thrusts, even the deepest caverns of this great metropolitan reveal subtle complexities.

With ‘Firewall’ kicking off SKisM’s Never Say Die Vol. 6 mix, fans already had a glimpse into how epic the Metropolis EP would be. However, the project stands out as one of Kompany’s most exceptional works to date as he continues to establish himself among the industry’s finest producers.

Collectively, the bass music scene has experienced a tremendous amount of growth and development over the course of the 2018 calendar year. With the dubstep sub-genre riddim sharing a portion of the spotlight, the desire for monstrous bass, precise cuts and an engulfing environment of resonating frequencies seems to be soaring higher than ever before; similar to the original explosion of excitement when infamous producers such as Rusko, Caspa, Skrillex, Flux Pavillion, and Excision first stoked the flames of dubstep in the mid-2000s.

Much like a growing seed, a genre demands fertile, nurturing soil and a deep running system of support roots in order to blossom into maturity and survive the competitive landscape of the music scene. Founded in early 2009, Never Say Die Records and founder SKisM have furnished the necessary foundation that has allowed the bass genre to grow to where it is today, not to mention expanding into new & exciting sub-genres.

Toting an arsenal of veteran names such as Zomboy, MUST DIE!, Eptic & Trampa, the label has more than solidified their dominance over the bass realm; releasing consecutive Never Say Die compilations every year since 2012, each further revealing the seasoned cast of artists that have contributed their influence to the dubstep we know and love today.

Despite an extensive back catalog, SKisM maintains a rigid focus on the present moment and watchful gaze on future endeavors; demanding that past artists and newly acquired talents ceaselessly test the boundaries of their creative ability, which has resulted in a versatile evolution of sound for the label since its origination in 2009.

Now, with the sixth installment of the coveted Never Say Die Records compilation, we are enamored to see debut contributions from Mastadon, ECRAZE, and TYNAN as well as heavy-hitting sounds from seasoned veterans and Soltan’s first release of the year. And, as with all predecessors, there is not a single weak link in sight, providing sound confirmation that NSD will only continue to rule in 2019.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/544917285″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Every established artist has a signature sound that makes them easily distinguishable among others, but perhaps the most unique of them all is Eptic. Within five seconds of any of his tracks, a true fan is able to identify him in any mix. His contribution to Vol. 6 is no exception, jumping on the riddim bandwagon with his distinctive flair to unleash the monster that is ‘Ready 2 Die’. In typical Belgian overlord fashion, Eptic combines snappy vocal samples with his robotic synths and gut-wrenching bass to create one of the most forward-thinking riddim tracks of the year. Captivating your attention with an intricate introduction and keeping it with his forward-thinking approach is what Eptic does best, and ‘Ready 2 Die’ will have you hooked for its entirety.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/544927695″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

While 2017 saw IVORY make a name for himself in the bass scene, this year saw him establish himself as one of the greats. His Next Level EP lives up to its name, offering next level sound design and supernatural bass. It’s no surprise that his contribution to Vol. 6, ‘Unbreakable’, stands out among the best, as he continues to elevate his wicked engineering with every release. In his latest, IVORY introduces middle-eastern chants with a desert-like soundscape to create a dance-ready torrent. Don’t be fooled by the splendor, though, as the gap between beauty and bass is quickly met with a loud, cawing lead matched with heavy-hitting percussion to create a headbang-ready heater.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/544943160″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Who knows exactly what prompted Space Laces to become the Santa Claus of bass this year, but whoever/whatever triggered it deserves all the thanks in the world. Gifting his die-hard fans with more releases this year than the last 5 years combined, Space Laces has been on an absolute tear with his latest work. When his collaboration with Topi wasn’t included in the Vaultage 001 mix, speculation began as to whether it would ever see the light of day, before being included in the Vol. 6 mix and giving bass enthusiasts a new hope. To the pleasure of all, ‘Whiplash’ has made its way into the newest compilation, offering more insight into the mind of two musical geniuses. A picturesque introduction depicts a group of friends cruising down a highway (no pun intended) before a hasty rise in tension predicts an unfortunate event. An abrupt crash of monstrous sounds injures all, with meticulous sound design and a fury of bass causing additional damage. Elevating the glitchy take on dubstep throughout, the track continues to jerk the passengers, offering no escape from the ‘Whiplash’.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/544425036″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Thoroughly listening to a track from international bass aficionado SPAG HEDDY is nostalgic to strolling the streets of Little Italy. Whimsical accordion medleys blend an unmistakable influence of the Sicilian variety into the savory, high-energy buildup of the track which contrasts roaring synth jabs and a commanding vocal sample. As the frenzy grows in intensity, a squealing mixdown launches the track into rampant waves of unyielding bass. Despite an overwhelming extravagance of resonating frequencies, ‘Troupe’ flows coherently as a tribute to SPAG’s coveted tight percussion and expertise in sound design.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/543928110″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Utilizing heartfelt synth melodies and mesmerizing bass sequences, KRIMER constructs an immeasurable amount of emotional depth and suspense in the buildup of ‘Facebreaker’. As the riser reaches its climax, an assault of rigorous drums steers the track in a new direction, unleashing a meaty vocal sample which catapults the track into a volcano of erupting bass. Just as the billowing smoke begins to clear, a sample from Dr. Dre’s ‘Nuthin But a G Thang’ comes straight out of left field, heaving you right back into the licking flames of the inferno.

A warm welcome and congratulations to TYNAN for making his debut on this year’s Never Say Die compilation — it’s been a real treat watching his style grow and develop in the previous 4 years and he truly deserves all the respect in the world for his hard work and talent!

The tune begins like the rebooting of a spaceship, captained by an otherworldly beast, which mutters a fierce growl as a repetitive snare drum kicks the vessel into orbit. As the ship begins to reach peak altitude a fatal software malfunction causes the navigation system to sputter uncontrollably, rerouting course directly into an oncoming fleet of bass-clad asteroids. Although the pilot appears to be coherent, he cackles menacingly as a meteor narrowly scathes the right wing, almost as if he had planned this treachery all along. Despite a more foundational trap style, ‘Usurper’ is sheathed in bass and lacks not an ounce in production.

Christopher Columbus of dubstep, Zomboy is an undisputed pioneer of sound design within the bass realm, with a foundation in production, laid nearly 10 years ago, his riveting style of thundering percussion breakdowns and relentless synth arrangements furnish a template for dubstep tracks still to this date. However, it is an insatiable hunger for progress which sets Zomboy apart from the masses, unveiling with each release an unbridled desire to expand his timeless infrastructure even further.

Flaunting his production expertise right out of the gate, ‘Hide N’ Seek’ opens with a complex digital introduction, coaxing you within earshot of the sensational trademark melody of wailing, harmonious synths. An exceptionally placed break leads seamlessly into an onslaught of drums, unleashing a captivating wave of rapid synths, which build teeming anticipation in the track. A vocal sample delivers the fatal blow, exposing a breach in the walls through which an assault of bass lays siege, demanding immediate surrender with no promise of survival.

Year after year, the growing anticipation is almost too much to bear — beckoning the question, how can the sheer volume and audacity of the previous year possibly be topped? However, expectation and reality flow in perfect synchronicity with Never Say Die; and Volume 6 carries with it an insurmountable quantity of bass, delicately crafted sound design & meticulous production worthy of all praise.
