lux.impala & MYRNE Get Dark on ‘Gold Chest’

lux.impala has been owning the dark trap sound since he dropped his debut EP The Sword. Meanwhile MYRNE has been burning up our SoundCloud feed with a slew of releases (see: ‘Low Life,’ & Fundamentals). Seeing the two comes together seems like a perfect match and ‘Gold Chest’ proves this. The track is dark as it is deep. Layers of gritty vocals combine with rough industrial synths and slap-you-up drums. Most exciting is the track’s conclusion where it becomes stripped down and insanely wonky. Stream below. UZ Unleashes Massive Remix EP With QUIX, lux.impala, ATLiens & More

Last year UZ announced the retirement of his legendary Trap Shit series. While it signified the end of an era, it also opened the door for a new one. He followed up the announcement with the release of Frontier, an EP which showcased the mysterious producer’s signature sound while expanding the range and direction of his music. It looks like he decided it was time to resurrect the project with a fresh batch of remixes. The project kicks off with a massive rework of ‘Gladiator’ courtesy of Felmax. lux.impala and Subsurge follow things up with two very different takes on ‘Bubbles’. lux.impala brings an energetic effort that’s wonky as it is bouncy. Subsurge takes a different approach, melding the track into a high speed space club assault that’s sure to impress. QUIX, who’s become known for his hard-hitting, dark sound, showcases his range with a slow-burning rework of ‘Frontier’ that’s highlighted by a stunning melody. Fans of his heavy works needn’t worry as he still manages to turn things up at the midpoint. Closing things out comes two remixes of ‘Chainsaw’. The nightmarish anthem is flipped on its head with ATLiens signature vocal chops and dragged deeper into the darkness with a murderous dubstep flip by LUMBERJVCK.
