Singapore-native and Sola Collective co-founder MYRNE remains one of the precursory talents in the realm of future bass. Initially gaining momentum by virtue of the coveted Daruma Sounds Compilations, MYRNE quickly developed a style unique to his own that blends impassioned synth work with heartfelt melodies in a manner that is closely tethered to raw, palpable emotions.

With a discography that speaks volumes on its own, MYRNE has an adaptable diversity within his production range, which has allowed for collaborative releases alongside an extensive cast, such as Holly, lux.impala, KRANE, Revazz, Dirty Chocolate, and graves to finger a select handful. Working reciprocally in his self-championed projects and remix work and has a depth and stylistic symmetry that truly begins to take shape when reflecting upon accomplishments, including his debut album In Search of Solitude or his own mix series titled MONOCHROME.

Extending the list of collaborative work one notch further, MYRNE and Moving Castle’s Manila Killa team up for a two-track ensemble titled Fluorescence. Light, vibrant melodies laid over embryonic, floral builds which launch crisply into a simplistic bouncy ambiance, both tracks beckon an inquisition into the passage of time and the shifting sands of avoidance.

2016 was an absolutely titanic year in the microcosm of music culture that is trap, with timeless smash hits being forged left and right. One such banger plucked straight from the cream of the crop is ‘Tiger Blood’ a masterful collaboration between Graves and Myrne, which to this day has amassed over two and a half million streams on SoundCloud alone.

Easily my favorite track from either artist, ‘Tiger Blood’ rides that tightrope of future bass and trap, incorporating the best elements of both to form a song that is incredibly fun to dance to but is also a symphony for your ears. The intricate vocal loops build as the tension rises before the drop reesl you in like a fish on a hook, before ripping you away much like a surfer pulled into a monster wave. Instead of clenching and fighting the pull, you pleasantly drift off as you let the sounds and tide wash over you, bliss incarnate. This is a track that you can easily get the funk down to on the dance floor, or close your eyes and drift away for a little bit.

Daruma Connects With Good Enuff For Incredible New Compilation

Daruma has been consistently putting out stellar releases and continually working to break new talent. It seems their consistency has caught the eye of Mad Decent’s Good Enuff label, as the two have just joined forces for an incredible 5 track EP. Ocular & Tonton’s ‘Drifting Apart,’ opens the project with a stunning vibey soundscape that feels like sunset lounging in a hammock. Havok Roth & AIRWAV kick things up a notch with ‘Trust Issues,’ a tune that is as rich with feels as it is grittiness. Switching things up once more comes MYRNE & Awoltalks’s future bass cut ‘I Know’. It’s upbeat, sultry and perfect for summer. ‘Mystic’ is a clear standout. It’s the type of track that stops you in tracks, makes you freeze and just marvel at its insanity. Time stops. Everything around you doesn’t exist any longer. You’re in a different dimension and despite its darkness, you don’t want to escape. Rounding out the compilation is Daruma co-founder Andrew Luce‘s adventurous release ‘Trouble’. UZ‘s Trap Shit series is one of the most iconic and influential bodies of work in the genre. Although UZ retired from the series last year, it seems like he may never be truly done with it as he returns with a remix of ‘Trap Shit 16’. Connecting with rising star MYRNE the duo build a completely new sound around the iconic Bun B vocal sample from original. While blending future bass and trap is nothing new, this remix does it in a way that feels extremely fresh. lux.impala & MYRNE Get Dark on ‘Gold Chest’

lux.impala has been owning the dark trap sound since he dropped his debut EP The Sword. Meanwhile MYRNE has been burning up our SoundCloud feed with a slew of releases (see: ‘Low Life,’ & Fundamentals). Seeing the two comes together seems like a perfect match and ‘Gold Chest’ proves this. The track is dark as it is deep. Layers of gritty vocals combine with rough industrial synths and slap-you-up drums. Most exciting is the track’s conclusion where it becomes stripped down and insanely wonky. Stream below. Their latest release, Vol. 007 keeps the trend going. 15 tracks deep, the collection carries a forward-thinking, bass heavy sound.
