Heavy hitter PIERCE is back to blow your speakers out with his brand new EP, Deep Blue. But this time, he’s challenging himself to take samples inspired by ‘The Outlaw Ocean‘ to create something totally fresh and new for the bass music scene. Knowing PIERCE’s style, you would expect something truly heavy and unstoppable. Which is exactly what he delivers. Honoring the world-renowned book by Ian Urbina, PIERCE channeled the dark waters and transformed violent atmospheres into pleasing and memorable art pieces. So prepare to dive head in and experience PIERCE’s creative process through each track.

The Deep Blue project is filled with charming and hard-hitting elements. When you get to his first track, ‘Distress Signal,’ the artist wastes no time and shows everyone what he can really do. Taking those samples of distress and culture, he managed to mold it into something remarkable and unexplainable. The track immediately takes your aura into the deep ocean, and unleashes a volcanic eruption of sound design and rhythm. From a hip hop style introduction with banging 808s and a percussion lead, you already know this is going to be a real treat. Then with a siren style build, PIERCE is ready to drop a major electric shock of sound on us. The drop in this piece really strikes you. The ominous and heavy bass lead speaks to your soul in a spooky charisma. When you think it’s over, the artist comes back around for seconds with a contemporary style second chorus. Something so interesting, you’ll have the whole track on replay to try and catch every little detail.

Finally, he closes it off with his final track, ‘Phantom.’ Living up to its name, PIERCE incorporates a haunting yet satisfying bit crushed vocal to send off a full experience. Then with a subtle and quick buildup, he takes our auras to the great barrier reefs and incorporates his flare and charisma. What makes this track so unique is his way of building around such a peaceful yet impactful atmosphere. The drops make you feel as if you were snorkeling in the great beneath. Swimming around for unique style creatures. A meditative effect which makes the listener become addicted to the EP as a whole. A gorgeous way to end off this project. Make sure to go support him and his work by streaming Deep Blue everywhere.

France’s Ivory has had longstanding recognition for being a devilish dealer of some of the most downright dirty dubs in all of the European electronic scene. With ludicrously lethal projects like his Next Level and Termination EPs, it’s no surprise that fans keep an exceedingly close eye on all his social media accounts for the next breadcrumbs of information about his upcoming releases. Well, the wait is no more, as we’ve been blessed with the unveiling of his latest destructive body of work in the form of the Dead Space EP, a 5 track affair of epic proportions out on London’s Never Say Die, and we’ve had the great pleasure of premiering ‘Fxckitup’, a collab with the swiftly rising Pierce, right here on FUXWITHIT.

Securing firm footing in the category of “songs to get in a bar brawl to,”,’Fxckitup’ is a barbaric beast that truly sits at the table with only the absolute best. Sending adrenal levels into overdrive from the opening moments, you’ll be greeted by intense guitar riffs and an overwhelming compulsion to prepare yourself for absolute carnage. As if anything but a borderline-reckless belter could be produced by these two, ‘Fxckitup’ lays waste to anything and everything in its path of totality, eviscerating human shells and leaving nothing but strings of corpses in its wake. Peak crinkled stank-face territory, Ivory’s brutality mixed with Pierce’s versatility is match made in heaven. Or would hell be more appropriate? Only you can decide for yourself, check out ‘Fxckitup’ for yourself below!

In wake of the pandemic and preceding quarantine, the live music industry has screeched to a very abrupt halt. With stay-at-home and social distancing initiatives in-play tours, local gigs, and even major forthcoming festivals have been forced to make the responsible recourse in postponing and at times even canceling events outright to ensure the safety of all those involved. As a result, a new terrain within the industry has been revealed, taking the shape of live broadcasted and digitally-tethered formats of events that allow artists to stay closely connected with fans during such a trying period across the board.

“CYBERSTOCK is a culmination of teamwork from across the spectrum. Whether it’s the musical talent, visual artists or organization: this virtual festival shows that even in a time of crisis, creative minds never cease to drive and adapt, bringing audiences unforgettable experiences that are accessible to anyone across the globe,” Denver-based Teknicolor reflects upon the cohesive efforts that have allowed for the event to take form. “We wanted to put something together that would allow upcoming artists to keep the creative process flowing as well as have an opportunity to continue to engage with fans during a period where everyone is struggling. Who says we can’t bring the party to everyone stuck at home?,” co-founder DessignerToys furthers regarding the multi-pronged initiative of the event.

One event distinguished for shining light on the proliferating ranks of underground talent, CYBERSTOCK 2020 provides a diverse offering of the sonic variety, ranging from trap and dubstep to leftfield bass and halftime options to ensure that each and every listener can find something to suit their tastes. Contributing partners MMXV Artist Collective, Gridlock MGMT, and Dessigner Toys come together to provide a seamless audiovisual experience that will be accessible from all major streaming platforms. Set to take place for three consecutive days May 8th, 9th, and 10th sets will run at 30-minute intervals from 6:30 pm EST until 1:30 am EST to mimic the procession of energy that one might experience in a standard festival format.

“We wanted to create CYBERSTOCK to give up and coming artists a chance to showcase their music during a period where idle time is rampant. During the quarantine, the playing field has been leveled entirely, which has provided a unique opportunity for the next wave of talent to have their shining moment. Hard work & talent will always distinguish themselves in a crowd, and we are stoked to showcase all the amazing talent we have on this MONSTER lineup,” event co-host and Gridlock MGMT founder Kevin Tartaglio shares regarding the vision for CYBERSTOCK.

With only a few days before CYBERSTOCK is set to kick into motion, now is the opportunity to set your sights and set your reminders on the sets you’re most looking forward to this upcoming weekend. Make sure to indicate your interest in attending on the official event page and send in an RSVP to make sure you’re fully in the loop on details and announcements.

We had the pleasure to connect with Scottsdale, Arizona-native PIERCE and Los Angeles-based Space Race to discuss the struggles and unforeseen successes as producers during the pandemic, a chance to hear about how they’ve been spending their quarantine and an early look at what is in store for their upcoming sets for CYBERSTOCK this weekend.

Check out the interview and full daily lineup schedule for CYBERSTOCK 2020 below!

Aside from producing music, what have you been utilizing to occupy your time during the quarantine?

PIERCE: Besides working on music, I’ve pretty much been taking a break. Been watching a lot of Netflix, spending time with my family, and spending hours playing call of duty warzone into the late hours of the night with other producers/friends such as VOLT and my management.

How have you been staying productive and maintaining your sanity during the stay-at-home period?

Space Race: I work full time as the Marketing Coordinator for a national real estate company, and fortunately I’ve been able to work from home and the commercial real estate market is still active.

Since I’m not commuting an hour to and from work, I’ve had a lot more time to work on music. I have a new track that came out on May 1st called ‘Quarantine & Chill’ with my homie Bvss Tactic. I’ve been working on an EP, I’ve been experimenting with a bunch of different genres. I’ve been working on a house project as well.

Are there any positive aspects that you’ve reflected upon from having more free time than you might normally be accustomed to during this period of the year?

PIERCE: For sure! To list a couple it would be that I feel the days are a lot longer with all of the outside world distractions not present, meaning that I can finish more work whether it be finishing up collabs or solo songs, to keeping with my fans in my discord and DM’s, to thinking and moving forward with new ways to get my brand and songs out there with more new “eyes” watching. Sure there are times during this, where I feel I have nothing else happening other than work and waiting on others such as labels, other artists, or even just my life to move forward, but I think it really helps to know that even though we don’t fully know when this period will end, it will end sometime soon. Just have to keep reminding myself of that.

Apart from music, what interests or hobbies have you been exploring with extensive newfound free time?

Space Race: So I’ve been working on slowly expanding my label BASSCVLT, looking for and listening to a lot of new artists, as well as putting some other things in the works. I guess that counts as music, but it’s not for Space Race.

I’ve been raiding and leveling characters in World of Warcraft Classic (#forthehorde) and playing a little COD here and there.

I’ve been reading a bit more, and recently started a book called “The Cuban Affair”. I’ve also been taking Spanish classes online. I’ve been trying to use this time to my advantage as much as possible and be as productive as possible.

This past year you’ve unveiled some exciting new branding aspects, including a new logo and tailored album art to accompany each new release. Tell us a little bit more about how this new vision came about.

PIERCE: I wanted to have a brand that was recognizable in EDM that could stand out from other artists, as well as potentially grow into something more than just an EDM act. I went with more of a sleeker look when designing my text logo that could be easily legible but also include the flair of the brand (with the bow underneath). For the emblem logo, I just went with a simple bow and arrow, something that can be printed on a t-shirt or anything really that looks cool and doesn’t “scream” that this precise emblem is only from a bass music EDM brand. It can be on a piece of material and still look dope even if you don’t know my music.

In regards to the album artworks, I went with a more concise look that all follow a similar pattern, where the center of the art is always a circled item, whether it be a sticker, to a brake gear, something that is different and a little bit pop culture, if you feel. For the rest of the artwork, they all follow a plastic-wrapped 12-inch VINYL cover with all the little details such as the sticker of the artist and the details as well, as the price tag sticker being a picture of bow and arrow emblem instead of a real price lol. I wanted PIERCE moving forward with not only my new sound but the way it’s portrayed visually to be a clearly defined vision.

What is it like to be able to sit, enjoy, and interact with fans during your actual set for a change?

Space Race: The last live stream I did was actually live so it was quite difficult to interact haha. I kept looking over at the iPad that had Twitch open and tried to respond as much as I could without messing up my set haha. It’ll be fun because I’ll be there to interact and vibe with them like I’m next to them at the actual show.

How might your approach to a set differ with the knowledge that it will be played via a live stream versus in front of a live audience?

PIERCE: I approach it the same way to be fully honest. I’ve been treating every live stream set to be the equivalent of a real live-in-the flesh show where I play a set that includes speaking on the mic hyping up the crowd to having a set that has its highs and lows sonically and energy-wise that takes the listener on a journey for however long that set is.

What role does the response or reaction of a live crown play in your performances? How would you say this differs by virtue of live streaming events?

Space Race: Not gonna lie, it’s really awkward acting like I’m playing in front of a crowd when I’m just in my living room haha. It’s always a nice feeling and emotional high seeing a crowd react to your sets. It’s always important to see the crowd so you can feel out the vibes and see if you need to switch something up. I think for a lot more veteran artists they know their audience, and their fans know the artist’s music/style so it’s easier to put together a set for a stream. The audience has a general idea of what they’re in for, which is obviously less pressure than having no idea what gets your fanbase going during your sets.

What do you have in store for the remainder of 2020 as well as your set for CYBERSTOCK this upcoming weekend?

PIERCE: Since the whole world at the moment is waiting for recovery mode to start happening, I’m pretty much planning the rest of the releases for 2020, building my discord and Twitch up, finishing all of the unfinished solo and collab WIPs, and getting a few EPs wrapped up. When the Quarantine era is over, you best believe it I’ll be playing shows and coming to a city near you!

What do listeners have to look forward to in your live set for CYBERSTOCK this coming weekend?

Space Race: This is going to be my first all Space Race set, so listeners can expect to hear new tunes, old tunes, unreleased, and WIPs. So yea, please don’t be too harsh on some of the mixing/mastering on the WIPs haha, I didn’t have much time to get that done before the set on a few songs.

Graphyt was the dark horse of Never Say Die: Black Label in 2019. From the riveting ‘Evolution‘ to the Colossus EP and a few other contributions to the esteemed label and beyond, the French artist established himself as a mainstay in the heavy bass scene through consistently mesmerizing pieces. Picking up right where he left off, Graphyt returns to the Black Label later this week with his Outer Space EP, and we have the honour of premiering the eclectic ‘Frequency Shifter’ alongside PIERCE ahead of the full release.

“I was watching PIERCE in a livestream one time and I was thinking ‘damn, he’s really good.’ So, I wrote a comment to him and he directly replied to me. After that we just got to talking and eventually decided to launch a collaboration,” Graphyt states about how he and PIERCE first started working together. “He started the track off, using the idea of creating all of the sound design with an effect called ‘frequency shifter.’ The first synths came out sounding really sick, so I decided to continue the idea and worked my sound design mostly with the frequency shifter – hence the name of the track,” the French producer adds.

‘Frequency Shifter’ is a harmonic display of Graphyt and PIERCE’s undeniable chemistry. The introduction captivates your intrigue with its ominous aura and catchy samples, before the track is quickly catapulted into pure dubstep insanity. Not too complex with its ideas yet perfect with its execution, the bass-heavy sections are sure to crack your neck. Keeping things fresh as the track progresses, PIERCE’s influence comes to light through the trap-leaning percussion layered below the dominating synths.

Don’t miss Graphyt and PIERCE’s ‘Frequency Shifter’ below and stay tuned for the rest of the Outer Space EP, out tomorrow.

PIERCE starts the decade off with a bang with his new single ‘WOBBLE’.

We begin with the vocal loop being introduced accompanied by a lead synth that seems to truly wobble. After a quick build-up, we’re thrown into the first drop which showcases a masterfully designed sub that is joined by a snare that seems to slap you right across the face. Following this, we come across the wobbly synth from the intro but this time it’s utilized as the lead in the second drop along with that 3D snare we mentioned earlier.

Boasting a roster of seasoned veterans like Virtual Riot, Barely Alive and Modestep, as well as hot trendsetters such as Oliverse and Eliminate, Disciple Records have quickly established themselves among the best bass labels. With a quality to quantity ratio that is second to none, their artists continue to push boundaries with each and every single, remix and album.

Six months ago, the label teamed up with esteemed streamer Jericho to deliver a gaming-inspired compilation featuring both new and old releases from Disciple’s talented artists. Soon after, they unveiled the fourth installment of their label compilation titled Alliance, which featured sixteen wicked originals from every one of their signees, not to mention an astounding mega-collaboration of 13 artists coming together on a single track. One would think that such an outpour of new music would have to slow down at some point, but Disciple and their heavier imprint Round Table have shown no signs of slowing down. Keeping the compilation theme alive, Disciple has now joined forces with popular YouTuber Mini Ladd to unleash fifteen more action-packed tracks from old and new label favorites.

While impossible to touch on every track, we thought we’d highlight a few of our favorites below!

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/545091048″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Oliverse has been killing it for a few years now, but business has only started booming for the UK-based producer in the last year or so. An infectious remix for Tchami’s ‘After Life’ and Modestep’s ‘Higher’ put him on the map for many dubstep enthusiasts, and signing to Disciple earlier this year solidified his breakout year. In a riddim-saturated dubstep scene, Oliverse’s melodic approach to the genre is both nostalgic yet forward-thinking, offering heavy-hitting bass with no absence of musicality. Consistently blurring lines between music to dance to and music to headbang to, Oliverse’s contribution to the Mini Ladd compilation titled ‘Somethin Good’ is further proof that melodies do belong in dubstep, and that Oliverse is among the best at doing so. Powerful female vocals are backed by gritty synths and punchy percussion to drive home his signature sound. Keeping you entertained for a full four and a half minutes, ‘Something Good’ definitely lives up to its name.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/543097857″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Virtual Riot needs no introduction. With two EPs and countless singles and remixes under his belt this year alone, the German-born, LA-based producer is on another level when it comes to productivity and consistency of releases. Swaying between dubstep, future bass, and everything in between with ease, Virtual Riot is easily one of the best producers in the game. His 2017 Throwback EP brought us back to his complextro roots, and his contribution to the latest compilation does so once again. Flexing impeccable sound design, ‘How Do You Turn This On’ is one of those feel-good electro tracks that brings bass fans back to their roots. The project file for this track must be insanely CPU-heavy, with hundreds of meticulously arranged sounds making themselves heard throughout the insanely catchy song. ‘How Do You Turn This On’ is the perfect anthem for early dubstep lovers.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/544118589″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Two rising Disciple stars at the forefront of the experimental bass scene, Eliminate & PIERCE team up with vocalist PLTO for an unexpected clash of emotion and riveting production in ‘With Me’. An emotional vocal intro paints a delicate setting for the track, backed in full force by a commanding piano melody and taut percussion. As the cadence of the track hastens, a warped out vocal takes the tune into a darker direction, unearthing a siege of compact snare drums and precise synth jabs.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/547436829″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Regarded as one of the select few dubstep artists to have stood the test of time, Barely Alive pays a small homage to the predecessors of dubstep and the earlier, more emotional and less bass-ridden days. A delicate melody sets the stage, before a more synth-involved cadence of the track kicks into motion, demonstrating yet again the duo’s unmatched talent to blend raw emotion into their energetic buildups. A critical sample booms in the backdrop, expressing its disdain with lack of emphasis, unleashing the true identity of ‘You Suck’ and launching into a funky breakdown which contrasts low, grumbling bass hits and fiery synthesizer patterns.

[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/437355027″ params=”color=#ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&show_teaser=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Each experts in their respective crafts, PhaseOne has established dominance in combining aggressive drum patterns and exquisitely timed breaks in his tear-out style of dubstep, while YOOKiE concoct some of the most spine-tingling walls of subs that your body has ever experienced. A collaboration from the two would demand a setting of chaos, and thus fittingly titled ‘State of Emergency’ the tune packs an immeasurable capacity of bass, overwhelming surges of subs and daunting production accuracy.

Failing to miss a beat the entire year, Disciple is gaining momentum by the minute. With the initial patchwork compilation Jericho, the teamed expressed an interest in maintaining a firm foothold in the realm of dubstep and riddim, allowing each artist within the roster to formulate their own contribution to the project. The more recent joint effort with Mini Ladd affirms the previous inclination, while also unveiling an inherent desire to preserve the foundation of bass music, paying tribute to the earlier days of dubstep with more visible attention to harmony, melodies, and vocals. Needless to say, this entire compilation makes a resounding splash and is surely a tell-tale sign for what the future holds for Disciple and its constituents.
