A track utilized to set the tone in anticipation of the synonymous audible collision of EPROM & Alix Perez, ‘Chiron’ released just prior to the debut Shades EP in 2015, provides one of the earliest glimpses at the veiled symbolism and enigmatic potency that the project would grow to encapsulate.

Distorted strands of vocals resonate amid steely thrusts of echoing percussion as the track bridles an arrhythmic tempo. A brief audible reticence unleashes a sinewy fiber of synths that wavers seamlessly along the length of the track.

Birthed from the ingenious minds of Alix Perez & EPROM, the project precipitates nonconformity, catering to the eclectic periphery of experimental bass and revealing a genuine, authentic opportunity for extended transcontinental collaboration.

Fittingly so, Black Heart Communion furthers the endeavor for opposition, plunging head-first into the vague, but undisturbed darkness as tenebrous strands of ‘Lurking’ embrace you. A precursive aura lingers, cloaked exclusively by an obedient rhythmic clicking before the prodigious, unrelenting vespers of ‘Two One Six’ prevail.

SHADES tease their upcoming EP with ‘Creepin”

Oregon-based EPROM and UK resident Alix Perez are massive bass producers in their own right, yet together as the duo SHADES, are a force to be reckoned with.

Their latest collaborative song, ‘Creepin,” is off their upcoming EP, Night of the Dreadless Angel. As the name suggests, the song feels like it inches towards you like a massive swarm of angry insects, then makes no hesitation in unleashing some low-down, gritty bass for the rest of its entirety. Combined with the use of half-time cuts, heavy distortion, and all-around filth, you can’t help but feel it overwhelm you and reverberate through your body as you embrace the lowest of frequencies. The track even feels like it has the slightest hint of riddim embedded deep within it.

The EP itself is set to be released on March 24th, and is available for pre-order on Bandcamp. In the meantime, check out ‘Creepin” below!
