Grab your dancing shoes and prepare for this heater because Super Future is about to rock your world. His new remix for GRiZ’s track with Wreckno, ‘Medusa’ is officially out now. Released 4 months ago, GRiZ amazed his audience with another massive track. Gaining a bunch of listeners, he decided to release a full remix EP. Full of some of your favorite artists.

What makes Super Future’s remix stand out is his honoring of the dubstep genre through his sound design and drum programming. Not to mention the trippy arrangement. His past work says it all. Creating a new world for himself, he’s managed to gain a solid fanbase through his years of crafting fresh new bass music. Every release holds something unique and special. And he’s taking no prisoners with this new remix.

Showing no mercy, the track already pops off in the best ways possible. Introducing the vocal accompanied by a filthy and distorted bass line, it goes together smoothly with his organic drum pattern. Honoring the original, but with a twist. And once the chorus drops, it knocks you back, creating a feeling of shock and awe.

The rhythms Super Future incorporates always makes a huge difference. Making any bass lover go nuts wherever they are. The second drop is no joke either. Throwing in some new elements and patterns elevates the track by a ton. Keeping an addicting atmosphere for many to adore.

Super Future is an artist you want to pay attention to. He’s next on the come up of the underground. Pushing different frequencies and elements is one way he’ll gain your respect and love for his work. We’re excited to see and hear what he brings next. Go support him by streaming the remix below.

Expertly navigating upward trajectory following the release of his collaborative Hypernatural EP and accompanying tour stretch alongside WRECKNO, Michigan-native and vibrant production mind Super Future can just as easily manicure a groovy funk-inspired melody as an experimental bass mixdown. Unafraid to work interchangeably between the two styles, Super Future’s sets have a natural audible progression that can truly encapsulate an audience, utilizing handcrafted interludes as a mechanism of maintaining authenticity throughout even his lengthier sets. Don’t let the guile of storytelling fool you, as unexpected twists and turns are tactfully disguised with silky smooth transitions and Super Future’s ability to read and adapt to each crowd specifically ensures a unique live experience each time around.

With the crisp spring air and an eminent festival season approaching, Super Future’s inventory is fully stocked with unreleased original content, collaborations, and remixes and is eager for the opportunity to further solidify his imprint within the scene. We had the pleasure of catching up with Super Future to discuss his latest EP and tour run with Wreckno, the Samsara Family, his inspirations as a producer, and what the rest of the year will have in store.

Be sure to check out the full interview and guest mix from Super Future below!

What are some of your earliest musical inspirations?

My musical journey has definitely taken a lot of turns, but I feel like it’s all integrated into my overall sound. As a teen, I found a Jimi Hendrix album and that rolled out the next 5 years of me learning all of the 70’s rock solos on the guitar that I could get tabs for. I definitely felt connected to the angsty emo movement in the 2000s too. It wasn’t until I was shown a set of Numark ns7’s and Serato in college at a frat party when I really started to get into beat-driven sounds! I missed the whole rap wave as a teen and got into the 808 life as soon as I learned to DJ at Michigan State. Skrillex for me (like many others) was the gateway into a world of bass and brostep that fired me right into the heart of the Pandora’s box that is EDM. From there it was a rapid succession of Bassnectar, Flume, Waveracer (the reason I chose future bass initially), G Jones, TroyBoi, Brillz, and Zeds Dead. I honestly felt reignited with that same love I had for rock and roll in my youth… and brought it all to my DJing at Harper’s and Rick’s of MSU. Anyone who knows those names will probably have a mini flashback of thotty dancing and beautifully ratchet nights (lmao). It was the perfect place for me to start getting that open format EDM experience. And that’s how this lil EDM boi got it rolling!

It’s been like a movie watching all of these friends who I started in the grassroots with and others just killing it lately!

Would you say growing up and living in Michigan for the majority of your life has had an impact, whether positive or negative, on your trajectory as an artist?

A totally fair question. Or at least this would have been more of a mystery 5 years ago. I would argue that there’s something in the water over here in MI that is causing a massive output of talent coming from this state! It’s been like a movie watching all of these friends who I started in the grassroots with and others just killing it lately! Wreckno, Sully, Masteria, Peekaboo, G-Rex, myself, Golf Clap, Claude Vonstroke, GRiZ, Freddy Todd and many more following in these giant footsteps who show perhaps even more promise. These are all names that you see on headlining tours and major festivals these days, which gives MI music communities such a sense of musical pride. I used to think that I needed to move to LA (I almost did) to make my career expand… but whether it’s Electric Forest being so close, or the birthplace of techno in Detroit, or just this amazing Great Lakes water we’re sippin, I’d say Michigan has begun to churn out some of the best and most fun to watch! The Internet has become more helpful than moving to LA to shoot your shot, and it won’t break your bank like LA either. And honestly, Michigan is absolutely gorgeous if you like four seasons like me.

When did you first start the Samsara Family, and how has that idea evolved or progressed since it was originally established?

Samsara Family Collective is very close to my heart. I started it at a time when there were very few experienced music producers and a lot more DJs in Grand Rapids. The founders and I wanted to build something casual that would focus on building a collective sound for our city of Grand Rapids. Many of us were into trap, future bass, Lo-fi beat making, and oriental sounds (thus the oriental sounds and Buddhist name for the cycle of continuous learning through trial, the humble period that precedes “nirvana” because we all vowed to be continuous learners of musical craft). It’s incorporated more styles like house, bass and other things in between, and remains a nice home base for our group of very close friends (our family), even when we all need to take time to build our personal careers. We will always be there for each other :)

The tagline for Samsara is “As a whole, we are greater than the sum of our parts.” How has this concept worked to establish a congruence both between the contributing talents of the collective, as well as your music as Super Future specifically?

I started this collective with only people who I felt could embody the humility of it. The classic expression means that we are not shit as one person, but we will succeed banded together far more than the sum of what we are as individuals. It’s really allowed for the right balance of family love, commanderie, and a beautiful overall sound. I regret to say that I’ve had to really put all of my energy into what I’m building as Super Future alone for now, and I’ve handed the reigns to my good friend Justin (sandose) who is expanding it to Denver, CO now. I miss working in the basement of our houses and having weekend retreats together to create and celebrate, and I know all of the momentum I gain from touring and doing my project to the fullest will soon come back around to drive more expansive Samsara Family Collective plans. All of these members still very much influence my life and music and we’re working hard to grow our own careers to bring it all back home for bigger things as our amazing unit!

I honestly don’t think I have the ability to focus on one type of sound… die-hard creatives NEED to try their hand at anything that they feel inspired to try.

Sonically, your style is exceptionally versatile and can just as easily swing towards a funkier-jam fling as an inventive freeform anthem. How have you worked to develop these styles independently from one another, and are there any unforeseen similarities you’ve discovered between the two?

Thank you for the kind words, I feel like that’s one of the best compliments an artist with my wide palette can receive from people! I honestly don’t think I have the ability to focus on one type of sound… die-hard creatives NEED to try their hand at anything that they feel inspired to try. I’m influenced by a lot of types of music, and in addition to the rock music upbringing I discussed previously, I’m constantly listening to beautiful soul and R&B thanks to my amazing wife Ellie, top 40 thanks to my roommate CHOFF in the radio business, the craziest experimental plates, trap and dub thanks to my Spicy Bois, my favorite future bass, I’ve been learning the history of hip hop, there are some world music and earth tones thanks to my meditation and explorative nature…. it’s literally alllll there in my sound if you listen closely. There are people who think that it’s a career deathwish to not focus on one strong-suit sound as an artist hoping to make it big, but I don’t pay attention to that. My challenge and mission are to make all of those inspirations and sounds in my life collide in the most beautiful way possible. To me, that is the future. It’s one of the reasons it is part of my nature as well as my name.

PEOPLE OF ALL LIFESTYLES AND ORIENTATIONS NEED TO GET DOWN TO SOME SLUTTY, SASSY, SEXY BASS MUSIC THAT WILL LEAVE YOU NO CHOICE BUT TO SHAKE THAT ASS WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FEEL EMPOWERED AS FUCK!!

As you near the midway point in your Hypernatural tour alongside WRECKNO, what reflections have you made about the progress of your style or your ability to put together an authentic live set for each stop?

Great question! Wreckno and I have developed a chemistry that seems to really bring out the best in each other. A true gift and a true friend! Right from the beginning when we met, I felt like he embodied what I think bass music needs… some big, sassy, empowering, thotty, and fun sound. Immediately I needed to talk to him and express that, and we took the concept and ran with it at full-speed! Not to knock at all what other bass and dub artists are doing because I play and create a lot of that current style of the deep and weird…. but most of it just seems to have a darker and cathartic sound to me. I’m all for that, but I feel like the yin to that yang doesn’t have to be the just polar opposite – downtempo pretty music. There needs to be a third pole. Wreckno and I have dedicated this tour to showcasing that there is a powerful new concept that is also very empowering. That is literally what our movement is about. “HYPERNATURAL” is a word coined by us that means:

“The highest degree of expressing one’s natural self, in whatever form one chooses.”

An authentic set to us means giving people that exact thing. I could be happy curating this type of feeling for people my entire life. I think I speak for both of us there… it’s just so damn fun! And by the way, that is the focus behind our first “Ass Throwers Anonymous” featured set at Okeechobee next week! AHHH YAY!!

You recently put out a mix of all unreleased music to celebrate reaching the 4,000 follower mark on SoundCloud, which featured the use of some pretty exciting interludes as a method of transitioning between styles within the mix. What initially prompted this concept, and is this a concept you look to deploy within your live sets as well?

That mix is literally my baby haha. I’m so proud to have reached a milestone where for the first time ever I could cohesively put together well over an hour of my own sounds. It’s naturally kind of tough to perfectly flow 100% of a mix of many tempos and styles together… so I decided to include some thoughtful interludes that mindfully float the listener down into the next section of the Super Future experience. I don’t do that like ever in my other sets or mixes, so doing this felt very artistic and interesting. It’s sort of a next-level way to transition that takes some experience in writing and mixing. I’ve tried interluding with guitar solos between songs, which also feels very gratifying and artistic. I could see myself doing that a lot more for my most important sets to come.

What can fans look forward to from you as the year continues to unfold?

As we touched on before, the Super Future project is one without many boundaries. So my family listeners (my Super Humans) are in for a ride this year. Seeing the unveiling of SSKWAN by the great Liquid Stranger at the inaugural Wakaan festival in 2019 was a very powerful moment for me. I felt the connection and the calling to make some highly experimental, immersive and incredibly mindful bass music. I don’t think downtempo solely covers all of what sounds are going to come so that’s why I use those words. It’s definitely something I’ve been yearning for because I agree spiritually that there is a need for this type of sound to be encouraged and created. I want to submit music to Sskwan and Wakaan because I believe in what they’re building, and from top to bottom the Wakaan organization is so talented and interesting. I appreciate what their leaders stand for and of course it’s the cutting edge of bass music! I’ve been building several projects to these ends, and some are confirmed with artists in that amazing team. I’m very excited to share those soon! I’m also having fun doing some VIP’s of something recent crowd favorites like ‘Chromatose’ and ‘LIKABOMB!’.

People can expect some more of the classic Super Future type of future bass with lots of freeform bass energy, and more releases with my good friend Wreckno! The “Hypernatural” style of music and its movement will be around for a while too I promise ;) We are staying very sassy my friends!

What do you have in store for us with this guest mix?

Well, it’s really long haha. I love the FUXWITHIT team so I didn’t want to hold back. This mix is a full range of styles that I’ve absorbed and and been inspired by on the first leg of the Hypernatural Tour. Having met so many cool people along the way, I picked up something from almost each stop to bring into my sets – whether it’s a friend I’ve had for a while over the Internet or a new homie I meet at a show who follows up with some incredible music. Lots from my Electric Hawk artist family too! Some spicy bois tracks too… I’m lucky enough to have made friends in such amazing talent pools and I’m having a blast putting their music on for people everywhere I go! And of course… plenty of my unreleased songs, edits and more for the people waiting on them. One of the most important aspects of the mix for me is all the work Wreckno and I have put out lately, a whole Hypernatural EP that we’re extremely proud to share with all of our friends :)

I really hope you enjoy the ride that is Super Future!

For anyone ingrained in the underground bass music community in the past 2 years, Brandon Wisniski, or Wreckno, is an assuredly unmistakable name. Boasting maniacal twerk-inducing beats with saucy vocals over the top, he’s a deadly combo for anyone looking to get out and shake it. Now, he’s joined forces with Michigan local Nick James, also known as Super Future, who’s made quite the name for himself already as well. For their first collaborative EP effort Hypernatural, they concoct a diverse mix of forward-thinking productions and hip-hop elements. We have the great pleasure of premiering ‘Signal’ from Hypernatural right here on FUXWITHIT for all the lovers out there today,

From the opening beat, ‘Signal’ thrusts its immensely clean and refreshing production to all in its vicinity, with swampy low end and a delightful melody. The first drop is all in the hips, making slow, romp-shaking the name of the game. A surprise awaits after the first break down, as Wreckno comes on the mic and absolutely slays a wildly-energetic verse. The next build is exceptionally timed and fits like a glove with the looped and chopped vocals. The traditional trap elements blended with the modern day experimental sounds makes this delicious combination that is a true treat for the ears.

If ‘Signal’ is a sign of anything for these two incredibly talented youthful artists, it’s that they have an undeniable sound that will absolutely be well-received by the masses. With Super Future just putting out an all original mix 2 weeks ago and a guest mix slotted for us in the near future, and Wreckno now incorporating his own vocals atop his already pristine production, the only question that comes to mind is “what can’t these two do?” Hypernatural as a whole is a major success, and a concrete statement that these two are here to stay. The future is insanely bright for these two, but for now check out ‘Signal’ for yourself below!

After being teased for over a year, Chicago-based MeSo and Grand Rapids native Super Future follow up their previous collab ‘Like Dis’ with another groundbreaking release ‘Chromatose’.

There’s no denying freeform bass’ overwhelming growth and popularity in the past year – a sound so many have dabbled with, yet Kevin Lee and Nick Rowland have continually found a way to push the envelope of experimentation and originality. ‘Chromatose’ is a kaleidoscope of weird metallic arpeggios perfectly layered with crisp percussion and a deep sub bass. The track encapsulates breathtaking depth for the producers, exploring halftime midtempo with freeform swagger. The chromatic sound and feel is a staple in Super Future’s brand, which can also be heard in his previous track ‘Lay It Back’ with Viskus released back in April.

Neither MeSo nor Super Future shows signs of slowing down. Before we even have time to gather ourselves from previous releases, there is already some new heat from these two. Be sure to catch MeSo at the Spicy Bois Wakaan Fest takeover on the Jaenga Bus and Super Future at Michigan’s Breakaway Music Festival this fall. Stream their new track below!

Super Future demonstrates the diversity of the Mid-West Trap scene with hard-hitting bass lines, emotional melodies, and luminous progressive synths alongside s e s h on ‘Air Bender.’

There are a lot of ambitious musicians and artists creating on their own, and most of them know the day job and the hustle. So it’s inspiring to see a trap artist work to not only produce music that is liked, but to also allow it to bring people together. Nick Rowland, aka Super Future, has been learning and creating music since he was a child, and in the last few years has wowed crowds playing along the side of DJs like Herobust, Zeds Dead, What Sot Not and more. Super Future has also brought electronic music fans in his hometown community of Grand Rapids, MI with his Samsara collective. Following the release of his debut self-titled EP, we are now anticipating his second EP Prisms: Part 1, which is due out later this year. He’s known to show up at underground parties, or festivals (Electric Forest, Imagine, Spring Awakening, Sonic Bloom, etc.). Pretty much anywhere there is good electronic music, there is a strong chance he may be there.

Premiering with FUXWITHIT, is Super Future & s e s h’s hauntingly beautiful ‘Air Bender’; this track is sinuously melodic and undergoes a darkening transformation. Super Future and s e s h show off what could only be the permeating influence of the Mid-West trap scene with slicing synths and thick, wafting wubs. The track is both thought provoking and soothing with its alternative style and progressive finesse of electricity- a fluid trap beat.

We were lucky enough to be able to ask Super Future and s e s h a few questions about their creativity, aesthetic, and get some answers that lead to more questions but also paint a picture of what unique artists they are.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

Super Future: The Super Future aesthetic is something I thought hard about as soon as I realized it was getting traction. I looked at so many greats (Prince, Bowie, Skrillex and more) and realized that they had their own look that nobody had used before and then all of a sudden their look was associated with a sound just because they picked that aesthetic! I thought that was pretty powerful. Right away I found that a brand that incorporates a spectrum of all colors at once was my answer. What I mean by that is utilizing what a prism does for light, and reflects all colors. So sharp, prismatic arrangements or iridescent surfaces, holographic, and chrome metal. Wrap that up in a Neo-Tokyo vibe and you have a good idea of what Super Future’s brand is about visually. Better yet, I try to capture that sonically as well, and even encompass that into the vision of what I stand for. Vibrance, chromatics, iridescence and visualization of the future. It takes going to my shows and seeing/hearing more of me to understand.

s e s h: I’ve always really stuck to melodies when it came to my project ” s e s h .” I’ve seriously made all styles of music under this name, but I always keep my melodies prevalent. Lately I’ve been really focusing on combining my melodies with a bunch of different sound designs, and it’s been really fun so far.

I love me some Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Marvin Gaye, etc. When I’m not producing music I’m basically always listening to oldies

If you could you only listen to one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Super Future: Future Bass. 70’s Rock & Roll comes in at a very close second though…

s e s h: I love the oldies. It’s funny when people get in my car and it’s always tuned to “cool 101” playing like old 60’s music, they’re really shocked. I love me some Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Marvin Gaye, etc. When I’m not producing music I’m basically always listening to oldies. It’s actually had a lot of influence on my music, especially my older music.

It’s created an endless stream of unique and amazing ideas that people want to get behind.

Tell us about your Samsara Family Collective and what it’s like to be a part of it.

Super Future: “Samsara” is a term that refers to the concept of the cycles of change within existence. It is a concept that is linked to fundamental succession from past experience in order to grow and continue through the cycles. It’s an ancient Hindu and Buddhist term that refers to the difficult period of the journey of the soul in which it learns over and over until one reaches the insight to progress to Nirvana. We focus on the portion of continuous learning, because it signifies hard work and humility of the learning process on the way to greatness. The other parts that make up what we do are, hence the name, rooted in keeping a community that we call our family. That mentality right there makes it feel inclusive for our artists, supporters and friends. Not fans, not followers, just family. I feel like that has given us a sense of uniqueness in a world full of more and more collectives popping up. For the artists, this was just a fun thing meant for comradery and collaboration, and most of all a place to express ourselves in an experimental outlet. I think of it as a fun art project that you actually want to learn from and try to be as different as possible. It’s created an endless stream of unique and amazing ideas that people want to get behind. The best part is that it’s not a business, not a label, just a group of homies building each other up!

s e s h, tell us what it was like to collaborate with Super Future on the Samsara Family mixtape.

s e s h: Nick and I have always just clicked when it comes to collaborating. We’ve made a few songs together and they’ve always just come naturally, which is really special. Our first couple collabs were done mainly in person, but this one was finished entirely over splice. Splice is such a neat tool for musicians. Nick is a just wizard when it comes to sound design, so he just sent me this idea and I laid a bunch of melodies over top of it.

What attracted you to electronic music?

Super Future: The energy it created among a group of people and even personally. This is no new fact but Skrillex, Zeds Dead and Blackmill really got me hooked back in 2011.

s e s h : It’s a funny story actually, I was at a buddies house playing some video games when I heard “Deep Jupiter – Shigeto” playing in the other room. I just set the controller down and continued listening and it was like nothing i’d ever heard before. It really changed my perspective on what electronic music could be like and I remember saying “man I feel like I could make melodies like that” and my best friend just responded “do it.” (shouts out Kolenko). I bought my first midi keyboard and software a few weeks later.

What is your favorite instrument?

Super Future: Electric Guitar!! Definitely partial to it since I play it in my sets- haha.

s e s h: The Saxophone has always been my favorite instrument. I LOVE brass.

I would want to describe it as a melodic banger.

How would you describe your track ‘Air Bender’ to someone who has never heard it before?

Super Future : Blending the styles of two artists who prioritize melody and experimentation, ‘Air Bender’ is a beautiful adventure through a sonic fantasy world. S e s h and I have created an entirely new feeling, with sounds of pitch-diving, flowing air, on top of a fluid trap beat. The name pays homage to an amazing anime show from about 10 years ago that I hope fans catch. It feels like the energy of some characters in that show, light, mythical, and powerful. Even the synths sound like moving air which I’m proud to have been able to make!

s e s h: Hm… I would want to describe it as a melodic banger. I think it starts really pretty and then takes a nice turn into something you can really get down to.

What was the initial inspiration for ‘Air Bender’ and how long did it take you to complete it?

Super Future: Zach and I had made a track like this before that we like to keep for our sets only, so I had a great outline for a beat. I’m also not afraid to admit that I was able to come up with some of the prominent parts of this track while micro-dosing. I feel like breakthrough ideas require some thinking in a flow state, so I tried it and this was one of the results of that week. The idea came to me all in one instance, but I had to let my computer keep up- haha. The idea was pretty much conceptualized in a night, and then I shot it over to Zach so he could add more melodic flow and he’s very good at that. Two styles based in melody perfectly blending together to create something highly unique. The name pays homage to an amazing anime show from about 10 years ago that I hope fans catch.
s e s h : Nick and I have been kind of formulating this new sound together that combines weird bass wubs and beautiful melodies together. The initial influence was from CharlesTheFirst. He is hands down my favorite producer and probably always will be. I actually remember the very first time my good friend Jared showed me his music, it literally blew me away. He has had the most influence on me personally as an artist. The track ‘Air Bender’ was actually finished faster than any of our collabs. We started by using our previous collab (which is a slapper) as a template and just moved really fast. He sent me the initial drop idea and the melodies came very naturally for me on this one. Probably took us a few days to get it playable.
