PREMIERE: Koresma & VOLO Precipitate Revelry in ‘Been Gone’

Midway through July of last summer, we were presented the opportunity to catch up with the wandering creative spirit of Oliver Brusca during the period briefly preceding his long-awaited Live Free LP, released under his musical guise VOLO. Brusca highlighted the freedom afforded by his nomadic lifestyle as a key catalyst to his creativity, paving the road for (self-captained) and collaborative musical exploration alike.

“At the time, I was living on the road and had a very laid-back outlook. I had left an old life behind and wasn’t tied down to a busy work schedule or any sort of grueling daily routine. I think Ryan (Koresma) and I both resonate with the more mellow relaxed vibes, which has carried over into the music we’ve created together,” Brusca reflects, drawing symmetry between the title of his latest track ‘Been Gone’ with Koresma and the overarching mentality guiding each of their minds at the time.

‘Been Gone’ depicts the collaborative harmony that can take place when two outspoken creative energies align naturally, mantled with a gently uplifting and refreshingly euphoric ambiance. Initiated from an impromptu jam-session in Koresma’s studio during Brusca’s Los Angeles crusade last summer, the structure of the track began to progress from that initial spark of imagination. “We didn’t really have any initial goal for the track, we just started jamming and the idea started to flow very naturally,” Brusca observes about the free-flowing inspiration that aided in his latest collaborative effort.

PREMIERE: VOLO Prefigures Forthcoming LP with ‘Luminous’

Previously based out of San Diego, now adopted to a wandering, itinerant lifestyle, VOLO has become a familiar face within the FUXWITHIT crowd, from offering an early look into his Force of Nature EP last year to thoroughly dissecting ‘Horizon’ from his Inspirit EP, VOLO’s ornate, luscious soundscapes and eclectic approach to production have provided majestic strands of diversity to the overall fabric of the blog.

‘Luminous’ cleverly foreshadows the highly anticipated debut full-length project from the prodigious Californian, beginning with a warm distant ambient glow that gently amplifies into your periphery. An ethereal vociferating pierces the foreground as tranquil strings synthesize effortlessly with placid drums, which linger tenderly amid an impassioned piano reprise.

“Most of the music on this project is very visual for me, so the process felt like painting an evolving picture with textures and weaving it together in different layers with melodies,” he reflects in anticipation of his forthcoming Live Free LP.

Explore The Galaxy With Volo’s Inspirit EP

Volo’s music has always been about taking listeners on a journey. With the release of his new EP Inspirit he takes that journey to new heights in what feels like an intergalactic affair. Each song on the project is an exploration of a new planet in some distant solar system. ‘Just Breathe’ is your first step on alien soil. It’s riddled with uncertainty and whipping breezes. There’s a stretch of anxious energy that is eventually culled with the track’s constant reminder to “just breathe.” Fear eventually finds its way to the back-burner as you peer over the crest of the land for the first time. ‘Horizon’ is pure elation. A planet where everything is bright and lush and the air injects a sense of euphoria throughout. ‘Outlands’ is the most earthly. Familiar keys and chants provide the backbone for this one. ‘Inspirit’ rounds out the adventure with a sound that’s archaic and futuristic. PREMIERE: Volo’s Latest Is Like Gazing At A Stunning ‘Horizon’

Volo isn’t your average producer. He’s an artist that is able to turn sounds into an experience that goes beyond just audio. Each work is visually striking; a new canvas that is made more mystifying with each element. His latest piece entitled ‘Horizon,’ builds upon this foundation exceptionally. The opening brings forth a broad and foggy hillside that becomes clearer with time. Flowing water and birds bring you into the scene and you can practically feel the sun on your skin. You’re alone in the wilderness, looking out at the ocean, but you’ve never felt more right. Every pluck and drum leads you to feel more elated. Volo Takes a Trip Across The ‘Atlantic’

Volo first entered my life with his Traces EP; a unique 3 track offering. Since then, he’s continued to impress with a wide array of releases, namely ‘Pacific’. 9 months later, Volo has completed the coastal series with the release of ‘Atlantic’. The track feels like drifting over the coast line and out into the open ocean. The sun is beaming down, the ocean is glimmering and the air has never smelled sweeter. With wordly samples that embody a deeply spiritual sense, ‘Atlantic’ is a transcendent record that feels like one of life’s greatest voyages, within just a few minutes. The progression makes each section its own chapter in the story and as it finishes you’ll be dying to reminisce. At which point just hit the replay and drink it all in again.

FUXWITHITFRIDAYS – Week 99

Happy New Year! With the first falling on a Friday, you know we’re kicking the year off with a fresh FUXWITHITFRIDAYS. Week 99 kicks off with the new smash from Kanye West ‘Facts’. From there we get into some trap heaters from Stooki Sound and LUUDE x Twerl. Other standouts include a ‘Hula Hoop’ flip from DJ Hood x Might Mouze x Gifted 6, We Are Nuts! bass house remix of ‘The Next Episode’ and VOLO’s trip to the ‘Pacific’. We cap it all off with some rap, including a new cut from Dreamville’s Cozz and the Logic, Killer Mike and Slug collab. It’s a wide variety but every track is worthy of a few spins at the least. Bump the playlist and look out for next week’s, we’ve got something special to celebrate 100.
