Despite gracing us with an action-packed guest mix perfectly suited for an intense workout, Just A Gent‘s recent productions have strayed from this energy to encompass more meaningful, powerful soundscapes. From the refreshing ‘Time Voyage‘ to the ethereal ‘Open Spaces‘ with Nevve, the Australian producer has pushed a newfound melodic aspect to his sound and has embraced it to its full potential. With the recent release of his URCA EP on Monstercat, Just A Gent continues to show us all why he is regarded as one of the most versatile artists out right now.
Along with the aforementioned tracks, the URCA EP boasts three more vocal-driven pieces that bring listeners on a sonic journey. The opening and title track builds beautifully for over two minutes before a vibrant section adds knock and bounce to the orchestral piece. ‘Iris in the Dark’ continues along this theme, using McCall’s angelic vocals in the introduction to lure you in before a radiant section truly hooks you. ‘Wings’ caps off the project with vocals from Olivia Grace once again driving the track forward until a sparkling aura of melodies put you in a dream-like state.
