A few months back Riot Ten connected with Young Buck & Afterthought for an absolutely nasty rap meets bass banger in the form of ‘Mawlee.’ This week the track is being reborn with a slew of stacked remixes from top-tier talent. Standing out from the pack comes Godlands’ take on the heater.

Upping the energy and tempo Godlands goes bass house for a blistering rework. The four on the floor patterns drive the track forward as Young Buck’s signature vocals are layered in. The fresh take injects additional groove, particularly in the first drop with a vibe that’ll have you shuffling. The back half somehow manages to ramp up the intensity, delivering a darker more sinister energy. It’s still primed to ignite dancefloors but in an even filthier way. Look out for this one killing clubs.

The full remix pack drops Friday but you can stream Godlands’ rework exclusively below.
Her newest track, ‘Out My Face’ is a step into a new and colorful light within her production feel. Bringing a different and atmospheric vibe to her project. Known for her heavy sound design and bass filled realms, Godlands has honored the electronic genre again and again. From hard-hitting trap, to groovy house music, there’s no telling what you’ll hear next. She’s even collaborated with several heavy hitters such as Josh Cassidy, JEANIE and even NXSTY! Her acquired skills over the years have helped evolve her as a musician even further than before with every release.

‘Out My Face’ is a bounce-induced wonderland. A light yet powerful vibe of melody. Filled with gentle and catchy rhythms. The wavy glide of each section ties together perfectly with the other elements playing a huge role within the track. Truly capturing the pure essence of beauty. Resulting in one of the most intoxicating tracks to date.

From an inducing introduction to a sweet aroma surrounding the chorus, Godlands really gave it her all within this piece. You’ll find yourself having the song on repeat for a very long time due to its natural arrangement and execution. Not to mention how bright the sound design is. It’s nothing but a positive and heartwarming feeling. Flowing through your body with each listen. No matter where you are, you’ll be bringing a large amount of energy for all to enjoy with this art piece. So make sure to go support her by streaming ‘Out My Face’ everywhere via Dim Mak.

This month is Women’s History Month, so we have to shout out the ladies that are killin’ the game right now. We know there are mad female producers on the rise and making money moves out there. But we’ve decided to limit it to female trap and rap producers, because, well… that’s just what we like. We’re proud to say this list includes a wide variety of female trap and rap producers. All the ladies on this list come from different cultural and musical backgrounds. Let them be an inspiration to all the women who want to get into music!

Here are 10 female trap and rap producers who we’re watching out for, in alphabetical order:

#1: Crystal Caines

If you like trap and hip-hop, you should definitely learn about Crystal Caines. She’s a Guyanese–American rapper, hip-hop record producer, artist, and songwriter from Harlem, New York. She’s both in the hip-hop and electronic music space, working with artists like A$AP Ferg, Dave East, and Bauuer! Her song ‘Gather Round’ featuring FOURTEE and her collab with WondaGurl (who we’ll be talking about later), ‘Play Tough’ make anyone girl feel like they can take on the world.

LA is unofficially home of the trap, so it’s no surprise Emily Patterson, aka episcool, resides here. She consistently puts out some of the best beats and is criminally underrated. Whether you want some grime or something more chill, she has something in store for you. The best examples of her being able to seamlessly blend different subgenres of trap in one track are one of her newest songs, ‘wasabi’ and her collab with Dabow called ‘gastown.’

If you’re a classic trap junkie like us, you’ve gotta check out Godlands. Her music is the chef’s kiss trap of all trap. Not many people create pure trap anymore, so if you have a trap void you need to fill in your heart, Godlands will fill it. While she’s worked with legends like Stööki Sound (with her song ‘No Stress’ featuring Jelacee of Stooki Sound and Jeanie), she also makes bangers of her own. Like, have you heard her new track ‘Smoke Em Up,’ yet? Needless to say, I’m fucking obsessed. Get to know more about her in our interview with her.

#4: Jeanie

While we’d consider Jeanie more of a bass artist—based on her live shows—rather than trap, she did start off as a trap artist. And she also consistently drops trap tracks on her SoundCloud, even recently collaborating with Godlands, who we mentioned above. She’s from Brooklyn, so I obviously stan, but even 2 of her more recent tracks, ‘SPEED’ and ‘HEADSHOT’ are a trap and bass lover’s dream.

#5: Megan Hamilton

Now I’m a little biased with this one (she’s not really trap or rap) because I just spoke with her on the phone and she was chill as fuck. Megan Hamilton is super dope and although her genre is technically midtempo funky house, her inspiration comes from classic hip-hop like A Tribe Called Quest, and it really shows. Her tunes come with a groovy, rhythmic melody that you can easily dance to, very much so in the spirit of ATQC. She never shies away from showing her hip-hop roots and even started off by producing hip-hop.

Megan Hamilton labeled one of her songs ‘Low Low’—which she also produced, did the vocals, instruments, mixed, and mastered—as future bass. But with those snares and vocals, I’ll have to make an executive decision and say it is, in fact, trap. Her love of hip hop shines as she also remixes a lot of hip-hop songs and gives her own flair to them like in one of my favorites from Megan, her flip of Kendrick’s ‘Humble.’

If you haven’t seen TOKiMONSTA live, you’re missing out. The girl knows how to put on a good show. We wouldn’t call LA-based producer, Jennifer Lee, a female trap producer since she wears many hats. Plus, she’s worked with artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Earthgang. But we can confidently say her music and live shows have enough trap elements to put her on the list. TOKiMONSTA was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease in late 2015 and she had to undergo two brain surgeries because of it. For a short period of time, she had lost language and comprehension skills yet still began working on Lune Ruge, despite her health struggles. Lee is the epitome of ‘I’M A BAD BITCH, YOU CAN’T KILL ME!’

While her genre variety can’t be beaten, there’s no denying that rappers love working with her like ‘NO WAY’ featuring Isaiah Rashad, Joey Purp & Ambré and ‘Fried for the Night’ featuring EARTHGANG.

By the age of 15, she had won first place at Battle of The Beat Makers competition.

Australian producer VNCCII has had a breakout 2019 and is looking to close off the year with a bang. Following up on her highly-infectious ‘Astro Life‘ from a few months back, the talented producer is back to revive the hit with a VIP and two additional remixes that push the versatility of the original to new heights.

“The purpose of my ‘Astro Life Pt. II’ version was to take the song to a completely new level. The meaning of ‘Astro Life’ is multi-layered, and in this case, it’s a collective uplifting message of striving for your dreams and passions. This VIP version seeks to take the song into a new context and give universal meaning with the aim of spreading love and positivity. My avatar is driving through space with not a care in the world, symbolic of embracing the cosmic journey,” VNCCII explains.

VNCCII’s new take on the track is just as captivating as the original, yet added euphoria and intensity make ‘Astro Life Pt. II’ a festival-ready, frenzy-inducing hit. The first official remix comes from fellow Australian producer Godlands, who is known for her bass-riddled signature and makes this known with her rendition of ‘Astro Life.’ Not much of the original track is left intact as Godlands delivers hefty trap horns and punchy, metallic synths in a bass-driven first drop, before she switches to her bass house signature in the latter half to close out the well-rounded heater. Finally, Paces caps off the remix pack with a chilled-out version of ‘Astro Life,’ utilizing the poignant vocals to drive the track forward, perfectly complimenting his minimal yet alluring production.

Don’t miss the ‘Astro Life’ remixes below.

What started as a single release on Dim Mak‘s New Noise imprint almost a full year ago has now evolved into a fully fledged monster of an EP. After signing to the esteemed label last year, Adelaide’s Godlands has been hard at work concocting a bass-centric project sure to please a wide array of electronic music fans. Coming to fruition as the 4 U ONLY EP, it’s safe to say that Godlands and her fellow collaborators are artists to put on your radar immediately.

In project’s first and newest track, Godlands taps fellow trap queen JEANIE and Stööki Sound’s Jelacee in ‘No Stress’ to create a grime-infused anthem. Blaring horns and crisp vocal flow shine in the introduction before the talented producers unleash chaos in the form of metallic, mechanical synths and a rugged yet electrifying sub bass. In ‘Lowkey‘ alongside NXSTY, simplicity is the theme without escaping the grittiness and heaviness of wonky, experimental trap. Continuing with the diversity in ‘2 Clips’ and ‘Back Now,’ Godlands flexes further trap versatility and bass house ingenuity, respectively. To cap it all off, ‘Valour’ featuring BOI makes use of powerful, anthemic vocals and blurs the lines between future bass and trap to raise hell in typical Godlands fashion one last time.

Don’t miss the 4 U ONLY EP below!

Based out of Vancouver Canada, NXSTY has been taking the bass scene by storm with his releases including recent of remixes of ‘Earthquake’ by Quix and Dog Blood’s ‘Turn off the Lights’. Hailing from the Land Down Under, Godlands has been blowing up in the Austrailian bass scene (and now stateside) thanks to her ability to transform beats into heavy club anthems. Now, Godlands and NXSTY join forces on this relentless hybrid trap banger. The track starts out with an eerie undertone and distorted bells in the background followed by some hard hitting lyrics laid down by rapper Lil Traffic. With a hesitant drop coupled with bass hits like a Mack truck and layered melodic sounds, the duo prove they are not to be taken lightly. Stay ‘Lowkey’ below.

With just a few original releases under her belt, Godlands has been able to stir up a storm in the electronic scene with her infectious ability to create bass-heavy anthems. From first appearing on our radar with her boisterous track ‘Everybody Knows‘ to impressing us with the aptly-titled ‘Wild‘, the Australian producer seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to making hits. This talent is not being unrecognized, as she recently signed to Dim Mak and has embarked on multiple tours in the past few months.

Despite the extremely packed schedule, Godlands was able to conjure up a wildly energetic mix for us. Her nine years of DJ experience are on full display in this mix, as she seamlessly weaves her way through a plethora of bass avenues to keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire forty three minutes. We also has the chance to catch up with the versatile artist about her origins, recent signing with Dim Mak, touring, and much more. Check out the mix and interview below!

Tell us about your origins and how Godlands came to be.

I have been DJing for 9 years now. I knew when it came to a point where I was confident with my DJing, that it could only take me so far. So that’s when production and learning to make music came into play. I remember hearing an interview with Lunice, he mentioned that he’d listen to music and semi remix in his head, adding snares or a different drum pattern and that’s what led him into properly remixing/producing music. That really stuck with me and so that’s when I started to properly look into production and started studying at SAE. It’s been an uphill progression from that, every time I’m in front of my computer I make sure I try and learn as much as I can and apply that to my music.

What was it like transitioning from DJ to DJ and producer?

To be honest it was exciting, well… scary and exciting. I still get nervous about my music, I’m my own worst critic. I wasn’t sure how people would react to my music nor did I think I’d actually be good enough to be taken seriously. I haven’t ever really had proper musical training. I was a percussionist for a couple of years, but I never truly took it seriously. I just knew what sounded right and in key, whether it was actually good is a whole other story haha! But I’m still learning which is the most exciting thing about this whole process, I continue to learn and grow and explore sounds/techniques.

The team at Dim Mak want you to succeed, they will try their absolute to accommodate you and get things popping.

2018 was a breakout year for you. How did your recent signing to Dim Mak come about?

2018 has actually been so nuts, I’ve just finished a 3 month tour spanning over 3 countries. I have an amazing team behind me. My manager (a real life angel) has been with me for literally 8 years, since I first popped up on the scene in Adelaide. He saw potential in me from the get go and we’ve just worked hard together for that long and now we are here! It’s crazy to think about, I’d be nowhere without him so shout out Sean! He’d be emailing and sweet talking me up and Dim Mak saw potential in me (GRATEFUL). I’m still shocked. I can’t even.

How do you think this signing will influence your future artistically?

The team at Dim Mak want you to succeed, they will try their absolute to accommodate you and get things popping. It’s so nice to have such a solid team backing you, they have connections to other artists that I’d love to work with and will always try to push you to reach the next level in your production.

You’ve also been touring a ton. The ‘Pleasures’ tour was your first, before joining the ‘Listen Out’ crew and then going into full Hellraiser’ mode. How do you balance touring and producing?

I just bought a new laptop, because the one I was using was 8 years old and it no joke took 45 minutes to open Ableton and have it running smoothly. So now producing on the road is sooooo much easier. Hey RAM, nice to meet ya. I will always get the laptop out every flight. I have to write music, unless I’m extremely hungover… lol.

I wasn’t overly known then and then as soon as I finished so many people were messaging me saying they stayed because of my set which was crazy and humbling

What’s your favourite show you’ve played to date?

That’s so hard to say, I think Splendour in the Grass was a huge one for me because I was actually just an in between act. I didn’t have a full stage but people stuck around or was walking past my tent and stayed. It was a bit of a breakout experience for me because I wasn’t overly known then and then as soon as I finished so many people were messaging me saying they stayed because of my set which was crazy and humbling and ahhh even think about it makes me giddy haha!

What’s the hardest part about touring?

Definitely late night and early flights. Consecutive nights where I’ll be coming home at 3AM then needing to get up at 5:30AM for a flight is extremely tiresome as you can imagine. Also trying to keep as healthy as possible. Eating on the road can be hard because it’s easy to just grab takeaway. I’m telling you I’ve never at so much KFC in one year. So that’s one thing I definitely need to improve on when I go on tour again.

Do you think you’ll ever get tired of playing in your home country? When can we expect to see you in North America?

NEVER! Home is where the heart is. I still think of myself as a club DJ, so I’m still not used to people knowing me or even rocking up to my gigs haha! I’m so grateful for every last person that takes the time to see me perform. I DEFINITELY want to come to North America sometime this year hopefully, if all goes well!

I love so many different types of bass music and I think you’ll be able to hear that in this mix.

What can we expect from the guest mix? What inspired the track selection and overall vibe?

With every mix I do live or otherwise, I like to go up and down the BPM spectrum. I love so many different types of bass music and I think you’ll be able to hear that in this mix. I like to think it’s harmoniously sporadic… a mix of genres and sounds working together to make your guts rumble and head bang.

Godlands first appeared on our radar earlier this year with a monster of a track titled ‘Everybody Knows‘ that let the bass scene know that she was one to keep an eye on. The Australian up-and-comer has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in just a few original releases, where she continues to carve her place in the trap scene. These original releases have also gotten the attention of Aussie promoters, as she’s now set to embark on the Australia-wide Listen Out festival tour later this month.

A couple of weeks ago, Godlands released yet another trap heater, and we’re not quite sure why we only got to featuring it now. Nonetheless, her latest titled ‘Wild’ lives up to its name, and in more than one way. Godlands leads things off with an eerie soundscape highlighted by tribal percussion and jungle-like samples, giving you the impression that you’re out in the wild. She quickly follows up with an earth-shattering drop where metallic synths ring in the foreground while heavy 808s lurk in the distance. A change in tempo rounds out the track, further demonstrating Godlands’ versatility and raw talents as a musician.

Check out ‘Wild’ below!

Today is an extra special Friday for the team at FUXWITHIT as we’ve celebrating our 4 Year Anniversary in Toronto tonight! If you’re in the city you should definitely come through! Now that that little bit of self-promo is out of the way, we’re here to give you the best tunes of the week. We kick things off with a massive new release from Son-J, before getting into cuts from Godlands, Dr. Fresch, Barclay Crenshaw, and more. Other standouts include icekream & Majeed’s super smooth ‘Bellini’s,’ Medasin’s new Post Malone remix and the crazy stacked collab from A-Trak, Falcons, Young Thug and 24hrs. Press play and enjoy the weekend.
