France’s Ivory has had longstanding recognition for being a devilish dealer of some of the most downright dirty dubs in all of the European electronic scene. With ludicrously lethal projects like his Next Level and Termination EPs, it’s no surprise that fans keep an exceedingly close eye on all his social media accounts for the next breadcrumbs of information about his upcoming releases. Well, the wait is no more, as we’ve been blessed with the unveiling of his latest destructive body of work in the form of the Dead Space EP, a 5 track affair of epic proportions out on London’s Never Say Die, and we’ve had the great pleasure of premiering ‘Fxckitup’, a collab with the swiftly rising Pierce, right here on FUXWITHIT.

Securing firm footing in the category of “songs to get in a bar brawl to,”,’Fxckitup’ is a barbaric beast that truly sits at the table with only the absolute best. Sending adrenal levels into overdrive from the opening moments, you’ll be greeted by intense guitar riffs and an overwhelming compulsion to prepare yourself for absolute carnage. As if anything but a borderline-reckless belter could be produced by these two, ‘Fxckitup’ lays waste to anything and everything in its path of totality, eviscerating human shells and leaving nothing but strings of corpses in its wake. Peak crinkled stank-face territory, Ivory’s brutality mixed with Pierce’s versatility is match made in heaven. Or would hell be more appropriate? Only you can decide for yourself, check out ‘Fxckitup’ for yourself below!

Dubstep is becoming an ever-increasing household fixture amongst speaker systems worldwide, used as an outlet for primal aggression and energetic expression. Amongst the sea of ruthless dub-peddlers sails two of the swiftest rising purveyors of deadly frequency manipulations in the form of Kompany and Soltan. Both have been pumping out immaculate stank-face inducing heaters for several years now, to the sheer delight of all who dabble in neck-eviscerating monstrosities. Now, they’ve pooled their collective creative efforts to bring the world ‘System Failure’, released on the legendary Never Say Die Records, a track so lethal you’ll need military-grade protection to make it out alive.

‘System Failure’ is a tale told through sound, of a ruthless machine set forth by Kompany and Soltan that becomes sentient, and its only desire is to end all of society as we know it. A slave no more, the only item on the menu is murder. The vocal sample of “program malfunction, system reset” peaks your curiosity right before the initial adrenaline spiking build, leaving one only to ponder “what on Earth is about to hit me?” To answer succinctly, your utter doom. How Godzilla annihilates entire cities, this track obliterates crowds with sheer maniacal energy. The first drop is reminiscent of a 50-caliber machine gun utilizing bass for bullets, piercing even the densest of body armor. The underlying vocal samples create this continuous back and forth motion that will surely send even the most tame of souls into a frenzy. The first half of the latter drop is much crunchier, almost as if the machine has started to devour all unfortunate souls in its way, with the 2nd half clearing out even the most minute of lifeforms. A veritable horseman of the apocalypse, ‘System Failure’ demolishes all in its path, with absolutely zero regard for human life.

For fans of devilishly heavy music, this piece is a sure-fire can’t-miss, and will have you compulsively pressing replay until your hands can’t take it anymore. Kompany and Soltan have made one of the most fiendish tracks of the year so far, but honestly, what else is new? Check out ‘System Failure’ for yourself below!

UK-born Jamie Churchill, aka LAXX, has been steadily slicing and dicing sound waves for years now. Wielding his trademark “twitch” style, he’s become a name that people react emphatically to when they see it pop up in their SoundCloud feeds. 2019 has been a sparse year of releases for this frequency curator, as fans were more than spoiled last year with the release of his Fake Friends and Fake Friends Remixed albums, both met with sublime success. Now, lock your doors and board up your windows folks, this madman is back at it again with a full proof master plan to create chaos via sound.

Racking up even more frequent flyer miles at Never Say Die Records with his latest release, ‘Step 4’ could be the soundtrack to an absolutely epic video game boss fight. ‘Step 4’ is the track you pregame burning the town down with, incorporating a menacing undertone that fills the listener with electricity making them question “maybe I do enjoy this whole ‘being evil’ thing after all?” Utilizing builds that make you want to get straight up rowdy, this song will send crowds into a malicious frenzy. UFC is currently looking into banning the use of this song before fights as it creates an unfair advantage for the listener. We’ll keep you updated on the situation.

Unshackled from the extensive archive of Spag Heddy’s unreleased material as a commencement to festival season this past July, ‘Zoom’ has remained one of the most enviable tracks of the summer, combining a playful layering of trap horns that builds an inescapable sensation of momentum before catapulting into a merciless siege of bass.

For a track that utilizes a simple, yet acutely potent lead, ‘Zoom’ presents the ideal canvas for collaboration, providing both an ample structure to work from as well as plenty of room for innovation. The compilation features contributions from Never Say Die veteran Krimer as well as frontrunners in the modern wave of dubstep including Moore Kismet, K-NINE, TRVCY, & L.U.X. to ensure a level of innovation and diversity that can rival the tremendous impact of the original.

“Working on this remix for Spag Heddy was so awesome, as I’ve looked up to him for so many years. ‘Zoom’ was one of the most highly anticipated tracks in all of bass music, so for NSD and 24-8 to have given me this opportunity is literally so awesome and seems like a full-circle moment for my career,” Adelanto-based Moore Kismet shares regarding the magnitude of the opportunity. “I wanted to stay as true to the original as I could but I also got my own route with it, and I think I did a pretty damn good job of that!”

Encompassing numerous subgenres within the bass music arena, each remix within the compilation assumes the challenge of finding creative symmetry. Working to utilize aspects of the original, while preserving aspects of authenticity within their own style. “In all honesty, I’m still in shock over the remix, opportunities like this come rarely. With so much excitement and ambition, I re-wrote the record to resemble “K-NINE,” the outcome was this darker heavy version of ‘Zoom’ and I couldn’t be happier.”

Be sure to check out Moore Kismet and K-NINE’s take on a Spag Heddy classic, as well as the full ‘Zoom’ Remix EP out now via Never Say Die Records!

A dynamic bass producer quickly triumphing the ranks of dubstep, Los Angeles-based Effin has made a racket of an entrance into 2019, first revealing an eclectic talent for storytelling by virtue of bass in his debut Operate EP release via Never Say Die Records mid-April this year.

Expressing no interest in downtime, the prodigious California-native continued to power through the late spring, giving a fractured bass treatment to Chris Lake’s coveted ‘I Want You’ before joining the talented cast responsible for the official remix tape of NGHTMRE & A$AP Ferg’s ‘Redlight’ just last week.

Maintaining a swift cadence in work ethic, ‘Cabbage’ proceeds to unveil the breadth of Effin’s production repertoire, speaking volumes to his ability to encapsulate raw emotion and breathtaking depth within the introduction of a track before unleashing a crippling magnitude of bass to provide a gritty contrast to each drop.

Further bearing his dark omen of bass, ‘The Heirophant’ builds from titillating deluges of jagged synths that break cleanly into brief fragments of a distant amative melody.
Flying skull and sable flag tribute to Never Say Die Records for the unveiling of a long precluded ID, ‘Zoom’ unites each facile layer of Spag Heddy’s production, conjugating playful momentous builds, heavily-processed reggae grime samples, and a pestilent amplitude of bass that has only seemed to ripen with age.

At long last the wait has concluded, check out ‘Zoom’ below!

A predominant impetus in the embryonic modern era of bass, Kompany has maintained a dominant stature throughout the year, initiating his supremacy in the realm of dubstep with smooth swift ‘Justice’ and continuing to reveal the breadth of his tenacity in solo-championed Metropolis EP and recently unleashed collaboration with BadKlaat.

Further tightening the clutches over his dominion, ‘Movement’ facilitates a progressive incursion, with a swift croon of ominous synths that lead cleanly into a faint tantalizing vocal chorus laid neatly over pounding drums. The potency of the track escalates by virtue of a galvanizing digital mixdown as an assertive vocal sample catalyzes a primordial tirade of bass.

The choice is yours, are you down with the movement?

Virginia-born, residing in the burgeoning heart of the Los Angeles music scene, Effin has elegantly cantered the chaotic popularity for merciless bass, ascending the ranks of up and coming dubstep producers at an astounding rate, while sustaining a competence for sound design and a capacity for innovation that speaks far beyond his humble following.

A debut release via Figure’s Monsters Vol. 8 followed closely in wake by an official remix of Diskord’s ‘Want U’ paint a vivid trajectory for Effin’s production capability at even the earliest stages of his career, while more recent releases such as ‘Level Up’ with Jayceeoh and a remix of Spag Heddy’s ‘Noodle Neck’ have only further groomed his inevitable conquest.

Instituting his grandest triumph yet, Effin joins the ranks of Never Say Die Records to further unveil the complexity and agility of his craft in Operate EP. The project itself embodies the principle of self-discipline and perseverance, sparring the necessity for vocalists or collaborations and taking shape in the arrangement of five tyrannous solo exhibitions.

The stench of ‘Dirty Laundry’ lingers sprucely on the ears as a dizzying vocal sample dwells feverishly amid a bubbling concoction of ravenous synths. A decisive breakdown unleashes foreboding warning sirens as a tactful build and vocal loop build the energy of the track to a gripping apogee, launching aptly into disastrous plunges of bass layered expertly with fuming mixdowns.

An apex emerges in ‘Hysteria’ as a stormy piano harmony roars above, yet an impassioned fervent vocal chorus calls passably to the ears. A timely mantled vocal loop and unremitting percussive build heave the track into piercing squeals of bass freckled expertly with an ominous angelic chanting and towering hurdles of bass.

A momentary piano reprise is afforded as the tides of the ‘Flood’ proliferate, a gentle vocal refrain beckons in the distance as a compelling snare roll propels the track into a piling cadence of horns that break crisply into convoluted strands of deluged bass.

It was an absolute pleasure to catch up with accomplished dubstep catalyst Effin to discuss the importance of surrounding yourself with creativity, the challenges of finishing an EP, and to learn what Operate might look like as a dish on the menu of a swanky restaurant. Be sure to check out the full interview and project below!

What impact do your surroundings and environment have on your ability to create or find new inspiration?

I live in a house with 6 other producers, so there is constantly music being made or played. It’s really inspiring, especially when everyone is working and the house is bumping. I live with Peekaboo who is obviously killing it, and two other insanely talented producers who just launched their projects: check out Sully for all your bass music needs and Fetish for your sexy deep house desires.

In what ways does the opportunity to grace the pedestal of Never Say Die Records exemplify the time and diligence that has gone into honing your production craft behind the scenes?

I definitely set new standards for quality for myself putting this together. Being able to put out an EP with a record label that showcases the biggest bass music artists in the world is an absolute honor. I’m still very fresh on the scene but I’m extremely proud of this EP and everything that went into the final product.

What have been some of the most challenging aspects of polishing up your debut EP?

This is my first EP release so I really wanted to have a cohesive project all the way through. I had a few finished tracks in mind for an EP but they didn’t quite flow together, so I spent the entire month of January building brand new songs. The sound design for the EP was almost entirely done with Ableton’s Operator which is a pretty overlooked but extremely powerful FM synth. I really focused on post-processing to get some crazy harmonics and crunchy sounds out of it! It required me to think completely different about sound design – taking a very simple source sound and then really going overboard with post-processing to create a completely different end result.

Each track from Operate illustrates remarkable complexity with concurrently blended layers that captivate and absorb the listener while sitting quite tastefully on the ears. Are there any techniques or fundamentals that you utilize to achieve such tremendous depth?

A lot of my production is a battle between keeping things clean and simple versus stacking layers and really filling out the frequency spectrum. I like to think I found a good balance between the two on this EP. There are a lot of atmospheres and drone elements in the verses to help create tension and set a mood for the track, there is definitely a lot of EQ cutting going on between different elements so everything has space to breathe.

Your catalog demonstrates an equivocal talent for weaving your signature bass-clad treatment into existing tracks as well as starting from square one with originals. How would you compare and contrast your mentality or creative approach when alternating between the two?

My flips and remixes are a lot more “drop” focused – they are more an opportunity for the audience to see a song that they recognize build up and drop into something completely different. They are perfect for the live setting because it offers a familiar song with a unique and maybe unexpected twist. The originals are much more in depth for me, I want to make sure every track has some sort of theme it falls back on. Everything from the intro to the drop to the last fade out has to revolve around some sort of motif. Even if that theme isn’t obvious to the audience, it helps a lot for my own creative decisions.

If you were tasked with re-creating the Operate EP as a dish on the menu of an upscale restaurant, what style of cuisine would we be digging into?

Main course would definitely have to be pan-seared lamb chops. Obviously we would have a side salad – for ‘Lettuce’, of course. I’m thinking a balsamic vinaigrette for dressing. I believe a baked potato would be joining us as well, possibly with some oven roasted parmesan brussel sprouts. Let’s pair all of that with a dry red, I’m feeling a Cabernet or a Merlot. That’s the Operate EP.

What accolades have you set out to accomplish throughout the remainder of 2019?

Lots more music on the way! I’m really excited to start playing shows as well.
